'Massive' win for Guernsey FC in relegation fight
It was the first time since January 2023 that Guernsey had kept back-to-back clean sheets after a 2-0 win at bottom side Badshot Lea last week.Vance's side are unbeaten in their last four matches, but the Guernsey boss knows survival is out of his hands ahead of a trip to mid-table Binfield on Saturday."We're still fighting. Obviously we still need a little bit of luck on the way," he said."In a funny kind of way this win means nothing if we don't beat Binfield and we've got to make sure we do that."That's a different game altogether than today, but we're on a decent run at the moment and have good momentum."The players have been fantastic and are really stepping up, but it's frustrating because I think it's 18 points we've lost from winning positions after 83 minutes and that might hurt us at the end of the day, but we're going to keep going and keep giving it the best shot we can."

Orkney 2025: Jersey and Guernsey shine with 50 golds at the Island Games
The 2025 Orkney Island Games have drawn to a close. It has been a hugely successful week of competition for the Channel Islands, with more than 130 medals won. Athletes from both Bailiwicks broke a total of 12 Island Games' records, with Jersey finishing second in the final medal table, just ahead of Guernsey in third. Meanwhile, Alderney and Sark missed out on any podium places, but showed a huge amount of spirit across the week. Read on for a breakdown of the medals, records, and notable highlights from the Channel Islands. Swimming If the Channel Islands dominated in any category, it was swimming. This is where Jersey and Guernsey made history with 12 Island Games' records broken - Filip Nowacki claimed half of them, as well as helping his team set the fastest time in the Men's 4x100m Medley Relay. All in all, Jersey's super swimmer came away with seven golds. Guernsey's Chloe Bown also broke two records, individually in the Women's 100m Freestyle and collectively in the Women's 4x100m Medley Relay, as she came away with two golds. Guernsey's Tatiana Tostevin ruled the water in the Women's 50m Backstroke, breaking two records, with a fastest time of 28.21 seconds. Athletics Jersey: 6 gold, 6 gold, 1 bronze Guernsey: 5 gold, 3 silver, 7 bronze On the track, Jersey's Ted Chamberlain secured individual golds in the Men's 1500m and 800m events. He also helped win a further gold in the Men's 400m Relay. Fellow Jersey athlete Jessica Troy impressed in the Women's Half Marathon, winning silver and beating her personal best time, despite recovering from an injury. Guernsey found track success thanks to golds from Rhiannon Dowinton in the Women's 100m Hurdles, Darcy Hodgson in the Women's 800m, and Nicolas Ackermann in the Men's 400m Hurdles. Field athletes also brought home a raft of medals: Guernsey's Victoria Hancock won gold for the Women's Long Jump and bronze in the Women's Triple Jump. Jersey's Evan Campbell also secured gold in the Men's Shot Put, and Zara Asante surpassed Hancock to claim the Women's Triple Jump gold medal. Cycling Jersey: 5 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze Guernsey: 3 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze Onto cycling, where Pippa Inderwick was instrumental in securing all three golds for Guernsey in the Women's Individual Road Race, Team Road Race, and Road Criterium Team Award. She even had time to pick up a bronze in the Women's Individual Town Criterium and a silver in the Time Trial Team Award. Jersey found most success in the team competitions, winning two golds in mountain biking and a further two in Road Team events. Tom Huelin also came out on top in the Men's Individual Road Race to claim another gold. Archery Jersey: 3 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze Guernsey: 1 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze Zoe Gray was responsible for Guernsey's only archery gold, coming out on top in the Women's Compound Head to Head Knockout. Her sister Lisa Gray and Jason Le Page had a nail-biting decider in the Mixed Recurve Head to Head Team Knockout, narrowly beating Menorca to secure the bronze. Meanwhile, Mollie Perrett won triple gold for Jersey in the Single WA 1440 Women's Recurve and Women's Recurve Head to Head Knockout. With help from Fredrick Crosby, the duo comfortably came out on top in the Mixed Recurve Head to Head Team Knockout in the final against the Shetland Islands. Sark sent two athletes to the Games - Kevin Adams and Elizabeth Norwich - who competed in archery, but fell short of a medal after being knocked by a pair from hosts Orkney. Triathlon Jersey: 2 gold Guernsey: 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze Thomas Atkinson had a comfortable seven-minute lead to win the Men's Triathlon with a full time of 01:52:47. He also helped the Jersey Men's Triathlon Team to claim gold, with the Guernsey team picking up bronze in the same event. Meanwhile, Sarnian Hannah Kennedy shone - collecting a silver in the Women's Individual and helping Guernsey to gold in the Women's Triathlon Team event. Lawn Bowls Jersey: 1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze Guernsey: 2 gold Guernsey's Rosemary Ogier won four of her five matches in the Women's Singles as she claimed gold. She found similar success alongside Julie Williams as they won the Women's Doubles. For Jersey, Michael Rive won all six of his matches to comfortably pick up the Men's Singles gold, while Josh Band and Kevin Le Long secured a bronze in the Men's Doubles. The trio then came together to collect silver in the Men's Triples. Badminton Guernsey: 1 silver In the Men's Doubles, Guernsey's Alex Tapp and David Trebert beat Menorca to set up the gold medal match against the Faroe Islands. Despite beating a different Faroe Islands' team earlier in the competition, this time Magnus Dal-Christiansen and Rúni Øster came out on top and the Guernsey duo had to settle for silver. The Isle of Wight took gold, followed by Ynys Môn in silver position. Other events: In Men's Football, defending champions Jersey narrowly fell out of the top three places after being defeated by Bermuda, and then the Isle of Man in the bronze medal game. Meanwhile, Jersey Women's football team came 6th after losing to Ynys Môn. In gymnastics, Harry Lapthorn-Nears came closest with fourth place on the Men's FIG Individual Rings. Alderney competed across several events, including the half marathon, shot put and lawn bowls, but did not come close to any medal positions despite their best efforts.
