'I'm begging him to work with me again...' Stephanie Leonidas wants new project with Nick Love following Marching Powder

Perth Now08-07-2025
Stephanie Leonidas is "begging to work" with Nick Love again after starring in Marching Powder.
The 41-year-old actress played Dani Jones the wife of Danny Dyer's ageing football hooligan character Jack Jones who is given one last chance at couples therapy to save his marriage in Lowe's modern day rom-com.
Stephanie cannot praise writer-and-director Nick enough and she is ready for a role in his next project, whatever that may be.
In an exclusive interview with BANG Showbiz, she said: "I'm begging him to work with me again!
"I love Nick, I love working with him, I love his comedy.
"I think Nick wrote really well for her [Dani], I had some great one liners.
"Some of the scenes just slid off the page like butter, it felt so easy to say Nick's lines.
"Nick is an incredible writer and he's an incredible director. He brings so much to the set. He really listens as well. He lets you bring whatever you want to bring to the character. It was such a pleasure working with him.
"Obviously, there was the football element, there was the violence, in it. But the relationship was something new that Nick wanted to really shine through this one. It's very much a rom-com.
"The world needed it, something a bit outrageous, a but cheeky, a little bit on the nose. It was good timing."
Stephanie had auditioned for parts in Nick's previous movies, which include The Football Factory, The Business and film version of The Sweeney, based on the 1970s police drama series of the same name, with no success.
Leonidas was looking for a role that brought her back to her "London roots" after having main roles in sci-fi series Defiance and mystery drama American Gothic, and was delighted when she got cast as Dani after running her lines with Dyer.
She revealed: "I've tried working with Nick for many years, actually. I auditioned for a few of his films. And I was like, 'One day I will work with him.' And then this came up. This character just blew me away, because it was everything I'd wanted.
"I've been working in the States a lot, I've been working in Canada a lot, doing American accents, I really wanted to get back to my London roots ... I wanted to play a Londoner again. This came up and I just worked my arse off when I auditioned for him. I got in the room with Danny and just had so much fun, I was over the moon to get the part."
Stephanie - who was born in Westminster, London - says going to work each day on Marching Powder was incredible fun and she enjoyed the amount of foul language she got to use playing Dani.
She said: "As you can imagine it was one of those sets where it was just so much fun everyday. There wasn't a day where we had such a laugh.
"Nick is passionate about what he does, but you never feel pressured on set, you always feel you're going on such a fun set, it feels like a hobby, not a job. Because they set that standard every department feels the same, it trickles down. It was probably the most fun I've had on set, for sure. Where else do you get to say the C-word as many times I have? It's brilliant, it's such an excuse to go nuts.
"Whose not passionate about the C-word?"
Marching Powder is available now on digital, DVD and Blu-ray now.

Jonas Brothers 'felt the pressure' to live by purity ring rules

The Jonas Brothers "felt the pressure" to live up to their Christian values after talking publicly about their "purity rings". After shooting to fame in the 2000s, the pop stars famously wore bands symbolising their desire to abstain from sex before marriage and Joe Jonas, 35, has admitted being open about their beliefs forced them to maintain the very high standards they set for themselves. During an appearance on Penn Badgley's Podcrushed podcast, Joe explained: "Famously we were known for like purity rings, which were something in the community of a church where that was like what everybody else in our age were doing around 10, 11 years old, like, we're going to wait for the right person ... "One person on an interview when you're 15, 16 [years old] would ask you about it, and you're like: 'I don't want to talk about this,' and then they're like: 'Well, I'm going to write that you guys are in a cult'." Joe went on to say: "Whether it was sex, or it was even religion or Christianity, [they'd be] questioning things like questioning if I believe in God, what is God? Is there even a God? And it's on the record. "And you're like, uh ... and so you felt the pressure,. I can definitely speak for all three of us here. [We] felt the pressure of being like: 'Well, we have to live these lives because we kind of said it in a paper once. And it's in print, so you [have] got to do it forever'." Joe was joined in the interview by his brother Nick, 32, who admitted he did not feel comfortable being asked about his views on sex when he was just a teenager. Nick said: "I think it's really a good thing [that it would no longer be acceptable to ask a teen about sex]. Where it would be like so outside of the realm of possibilities or something someone would do to ask at that time a 14-year-old about their sex life." Nick previously admitted wearing the rings "was challenging" in many ways. In a Reddit Ask Me Anything forum in March 2016, he explained: 'I've got a lot of perspective and real care about sex from those days, and specifically because people were watching us, because it was such a strange thing to a lot of people to wear these purity rings, especially as young men in a pop boy band. "But I think when I'm looking back on it, although it was challenging to live with that, to be seen and have that attached to our name was very tough. "'I think it was a good thing. It gave me a really good perspective, to whereas now my main thing is about being OK with who I am as a man and the choices I've made, and I think everyone should have a good and solid conversation with either their parents or loved ones about sex and about what they want to do with their life, because it shouldn't be taboo. "It's a big part of who we are and what makes us human, and if we can't address these things head on, then I think that it can really be challenging."

Fans let rip as Snoop Dogg AFL grand final rumour goes viral

As the AFL season races to the pointy end, multiple reports are suggesting controversial US rapper Snoop Dogg will be the headline act on grand final day. In fact, AFL great Brendan Fevola said 'I can tell you 100 per cent' that Snoop Dogg — 'a bloke who's been banned from the country' — will be appearing at the AFL's showpiece event. And 3AW host Ross Stevenson also said it had has 'been suggested' to him that the 53-year-old rapper was the chosen one, along with Dr Dre. As the story went viral, fans reacted on social media with many, including Fevola, not happy. 'It will be an epic fail,' Fevola brutally declared on The Fox's Fifi, Fev & Nick, however, his co-host Fifi Box was not on board. 'I love Snoop. That excites me, but he doesn't ... I'm interested to see how that'll go on the day,' Box said. Fevola: 'Not for me ... he's gonna have to smoke like a joint. He's gonna have to do some real radical stuff (to get the crowd going). 'But I just think it's a fail ... we did hear Foo Fighters. That would have been amazing. You want sing-along (songs). Kids aren't going to the MCG (for Snoop).' Last year Katy Perry was considered a roaring success and fans were also blown away by high-energy acts in KISS and Robbie Williams in 2023 and 2022. But the announcement of Snoop has also left fans cold, with many highlighting his reputation for drug use and misogynistic lyrics. 'I've kind of done everything I can to avoid exposing my kids to this culture, why do the AFL want to,' one fan said. 'AFL always respects women,' another said And another: 'Embarrassing decision. He's terrible now. Australia is the only place that gives him the time of day. The Menulog GF. 🤦‍♂️.' And another: 'Some dude well past his used by date ... Honestly Is there no current local band in these shores that could whip up a storm? This is the best we can do ???? AFL still haven't learnt their lesson from Meat Loaf.' And another: 'Why does Meat Loaf immediately spring to mind? And another: 'I love Snoop and have seen him live twice. Let me put it like this - if you are trying to get someone to rival Meat Loaf as the worst ever choice for GF entertainment, he is your man. PS. Do the AFL have any idea what he sings about? 😀' While another said: 'Hope they can hand out enough weed so we can all enjoy the show🥴.' And another: 'Seriously, AFL?? You couldn't actually find some real Aussie talent for the 2025 AFL Grand Final pre-game entertainment?? Typical ... 🙄. The AFL did not confirm the Snoop Dogg story but said they were hoping to make announcement soon. 'The pre-game entertainment at the AFL grand final is always a talking point, and we're hoping to make an announcement shortly,' a spokesperson said. 'We are excited to deliver another world-class show in front of 100,000 fans at the MCG, and the millions more watching the broadcast ahead of the biggest game of the season.'

Jonas Brothers' dad Kevin Sr buys rights to part of band's music catalogue

The Jonas Brothers' father has bought the rights to part of his sons' back catalogue. Kevin Jonas Sr. has reached a deal with his sons Nick, Joe and Kevin via his own talent management company Jonas Group Entertainment Holdings, which gives him the publishing and recording rights to the trio's The Happiness Begins, 2023's The Album, and their upcoming LP Greetings From Your Hometown, plus standalone singles Remember This and Like It's Christmas. As reported by Billboard, he told his sons: "I don't know that anybody can love your music any more than I do or be any more proud of you. 'I am not asking for less than the purchase price but for consideration of the passion I'll bring to keeping your legacy thriving.' In a statement, the siblings praised Jonas Group Publishing president Leslie DiPiero for supporting "songwriters and creators". They said: "We are passionate about songwriting and the creative process, and Leslie DiPiero [Jonas Group Publishing president] has always been a true champion for songwriters and creators. 'We look forward to working with her and the team.' Kevin Sr. added that considering the family connection - and his past experience managing the trio with Phil McIntyre early in their career - working together again should be "easy". The exact financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. However, Jonas Brothers still have ownership of their first four albums - It's About Time, their self-titled album, A Little Bit Longer, and Lines, Vines and Trying Times. The debut was released on Columbia Records, while the other three were on Disney's Hollywood Records. Speaking after parting ways with Disney and retaining their masters, Nick said at the time: "This was a decision that we made as a group. Naturally, as with any partnership, when you do part ways, there is emotion tied to it. "We've been blessed to have a lot of success with Hollywood and with Disney, but speaking on behalf of my brothers and our team, we're all looking forward to this next chapter. "We're ready for that next step as a group, and being able to take our work with us was so important.'
