Anant Agarrwal, Director of Marketing and Inside Sales at Cogent Infotech , a global IT consulting and workforce solutions organization headquartered in Pittsburgh, PA, has been honored with the prestigious National Business Ratna Award 2025 by Business Connect—in the category of Corporate Leader of the Year 2025. The award recognizes his exceptional ability to blend strategic thinking, innovative vision, and empathetic leadership to drive organizational growth.
Anant's journey at Cogent Infotech has been defined not only by his knack for anticipating market trends but also by his deep commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and agility. He is known for driving strategic initiatives from concept to reality, ensuring flawless execution and measurable impact. Through disciplined implementation and decisive leadership, he has helped the organization continually innovate and excel in a rapidly evolving marketplace.
Reflecting on this milestone, Anant attributes much of his success to the guidance of Cogent's leadership, particularly President Manu Mehta, CEO Nandan Banerjee, and his direct manager, Vice President Shane Rocque. He credits their strategic mentorship and unwavering belief in his potential as instrumental in shaping his leadership philosophy and strengthening his ability to navigate complex business environments. They have fostered a culture that not only inspires strategic thinking but also empowers leaders at every level to drive meaningful impact.
Cogent Infotech's distinctive culture, carefully nurtured by Manu Mehta and Nandan Banerjee, promotes continuous learning, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration. Under their guidance and with sponsorship from Cogent, Anant completed an Executive MBA from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, enriching his strategic toolkit and preparing him to drive growth across global markets.
Anant's strategic mindset took shape early in his career through formative experiences at The Times of India, where he developed insights into customer dynamics, strategic implementation, supply chain operations, and market strategy. During his tenure there, he proposed an innovative idea aimed at helping vernacular-language readers transition into English readers for The Times of India and increasing the adoption of The Economic Times within educational institutions. His suggestion involved including definitions for difficult English words at the bottom of each page, making the content more accessible and engaging for readers. Although the idea wasn't implemented at the time, The Economic Times has since introduced a similar feature, offering word meanings for select challenging terms, an initiative that closely aligns with Anant's original vision to enhance reader engagement and expand readership.
Following his time at The Times of India , Anant further honed his skills at Club Mahindra, where he deepened his understanding of consumer behavior and developed the agility required to respond to rapidly changing market demands.
At Cogent Infotech, Anant's career has progressed rapidly. Having joined the organization in 2021 as an Assistant Brand Manager, he rose through the ranks to become the Director of Marketing and Inside Sales. Under Shane Rocque's mentorship, he mastered the nuances of aligning global teams, managing cross-functional challenges, and executing complex strategic initiatives. Shane's influence reinforced Anant's conviction that clarity in strategic direction and empowered teams are essential for sustained success.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Anant is also the creator of The Power of 3M , a blog ranked among the top 25 globally in the mythology category. Through this platform, he blends mythology, management, and mindset to offer leadership insights grounded in timeless wisdom. Drawing from shlokas and stories from the Bhagavad Gita and the Mahabharata, he interprets ancient teachings and translates them into modern management lessons, bridging past wisdom with today's business realities. For Anant, The Power of 3M is more than a blog—it's a reflection of his belief in integrating diverse knowledge streams to inspire modern leadership and foster innovative thinking.
Anant says, "I define success as more than just achieving performance metrics. I believe that true success is built on creating the environment that makes those outcomes possible. For me, results reflect the underlying culture: a high-performing team isn't built by chance but through deliberate design.' He evaluates success through tangible signals: the number of collaborative solutions developed, the quality of internal feedback loops, and the courage with which new ideas are pursued. For him, a culture centered on ownership, problem-solving, and experimentation is what drives sustainable results not only today but well into the future.
Anant views Generative AI as more than just a tool; he believes it's fundamentally transforming business models by redefining processes, structures, working relationships, decision-making, business operations, and value chains. In the IT industry, it has begun to decouple growth and service delivery from traditional headcount-based models.
Regarding the IT industry's transformation, Anant observes that headcount alone no longer defines success. The true differentiator now lies in how organizations combine domain expertise with intelligent automation. Its impact is already visible in areas such as code generation, software testing, personalized customer solutions, and advanced analytics, driving speed, precision, and innovation
Anant emphasizes that leadership in this era requires clear judgment—understanding which tasks can and should be automated for efficiency, which can be augmented with AI support, and which can be amplified to drive maximum value. He believes that Generative AI should be integrated into the core strategy of the company and not viewed merely as a tactical decision. It's not about replacing people, but about helping them unlock new potential through smarter AI integration. Anant believes this mindset enables organizations to drive transformation rather than merely react, building adaptive, future-ready teams equipped for intelligent collaboration.
At the heart of his leadership philosophy is a focus on developing leaders who look beyond performance metrics and value the softer dimensions of leadership—emotional intelligence, trust-building, and team alignment. While innovation and agility are critical for staying competitive, Anant believes that culture is the true accelerator. A strong, purpose-driven culture doesn't simply help organizations keep pace with change; it shapes how that change unfolds. Through mentorship, cultural stewardship, and strategic enablement, he remains committed to preparing the next generation of leaders for success in a complex and fast-changing landscape.
Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Anant sees the award as a reflection of the collective vision and collaborative culture at Cogent Infotech. He extends heartfelt thanks to Manu Mehta and Nandan Banerjee for their invaluable guidance and support. "Their leadership," he says, "continues to inspire me to strive for excellence, anticipate change, and empower those around him to embrace the future with confidence."

Amazon Web Services launches Kiro for writing code with AI help

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy speaks during an Amazon Devices launch on Febriuary 26 in New York where the company unveiled Alexa+, with AI features. On Monday, Amazon Web Services announced Kiro, allows developers to write code with help from artificial intelligence. Photo by John Angelillo/UPI | License Photo July 14 (UPI) -- Amazon Web Services on Monday released Kiro, a program that allows developers to write code with help from artificial intelligence. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy launched the service in a post on X. "Introducing Kiro, an all-new agent IDE [Integrated Development Environment] that has a chance to transform how developers build software," Jassy wrote about the service from Amazon's Web Services, which is the leading provider of cloud infrastructure. Amazon's name doesn't appear in the announcement, Geekwire noted. AWS launched in 2006 and includes storage and computing power. In 2024, its revenue was $107.6 billion. Overall, Amazon's revenue was $637.9 billion, including retail services, delivery, digital content, devices, Whole Foods, physical stores Vibe coding directs computers to creative software without much human direction. After the free preview ends, free and premium versions of Kiro will be available. The company plans three pricing tiers: a free version with 50 agent interactions per month; a Pro tier at $19 per user per month with 1,000 interactions; and a Pro+ tier at $39 per user per month with 3,000 interactions. Jassy noted the advantages of its program, which uses AI models from Amazon-backed Anthropic but there will be alternatives. "Kiro is really good at 'vibe coding' but goes beyond that," he said. "While other AI coding assistants might help you prototype quickly, Kiro helps you take those prototypes all the way to production by following a mature, structured development process out of the box. This means developers can spend less time on boilerplate coding and more time where it matters most -- innovating and building solutions that customers will love." Diagrams and tasks are generated to streamline development, AWS said. Kiro now can only communicate with people in English. Two product developers, Nikhil Swaminathan and Deeak Sing, gave some details on the programming service and provided a tutorial. "I'm sure you've been there: prompt, prompt, prompt, and you have a working application," they wrote. "It's fun and feels like magic. But getting it to production requires more. ... Requirements are fuzzy and you can't tell if the application meets them." They said Kir works "like an experience developer catching things you miss or completing boilerplate tasks in the background as you work. These event-driven automation triggers an agent to execute a task in the background when you save, create, delete files, or on a manual trigger." In one example, they showed how an e-commerce application for selling crafts can add a review section for users' feedback on crafts. They looked to the future, writing "the way humans and machines coordinate to build software is still messy and fragmented, but we're working to change that. Specs is a major step in that direction." Other companies are going into vibecoding, CNBC reported. Google plans to make its Gemini Code Assist more useful for software developers. On Friday, the company paid a $2.4 billion for licensing rights and top talent from AI software coding startup WIndsurf. On Monday, AI startup Cognition announced it is acquiring Windsurf's intellectual property, produce, trademark, brand and talent for an undisclosed amoint. Microsoft's GitHub's agent allows its Visual Studio Code to work in agent mode for automated software development. Anysphere has developed Cursor and plans to raise money at a $10 billion valuation. OpenAI had considered acquiring Windsurf and Cursor.

Amazon jumps into AI vibe coding with preview of Kiro

Amazon's cloud unit said Monday that it has released a preview of Kiro, a program that developers can use to write code with help from artificial intelligence. In a post on X, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said Kiro "has a chance to transform how developers build software." The introduction comes days after Google said it's hiring staffers of AI coding software startup Windsurf as part of a $2.4 billion technology licensing deal. Google said it plans to make its Gemini AI models more useful to software developers. Amazon and Google are jumping deeper into so-called vibe coding, the process of directing computers to create software with minimal human direction. Microsoft has also bolstered its Visual Studio Code editor with an agent mode for automated software development. Windsurf competes with Cursor, whose parent company Anysphere was reportedly in talks to raise money earlier this year at a $10 billion valuation. OpenAI looked at acquiring Windsurf and Cursor. Amazon Web Services, the leading provider of cloud infrastructure, said on the frequently asked questions page of the Kiro website that vibe coding in its current form can be overly complex. "When implementing a task with vibe coding, it's difficult to keep track of all the decisions that were made along the way, and document them for your team," the site says. "By using specs, Kiro works alongside you to define requirements, system design, and tasks to be implemented before writing any code." Kiro can make diagrams to show how data will flow through a proposed application, and create task lists, so that people can see what's missing, Nikhil Swaminathan, product lead at AWS, and Deepak Singh, the group's vice president of developer experience and agents, wrote in a blog post. Kiro currently can only chat with people in English. Support for additional languages will come later. The program draws on AI models from Amazon-backed Anthropic, but alternatives will follow, AWS said. Free and premium tiers of Kiro will be available after the preview ends. Content from paying users won't be used to train models, and free users can opt out, AWS said.

Group that owns Burnley in England also taking over Spanish club Espanyol

Associated Press BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — English-based group Velocity Sport Limited and its American shareholders are taking over Spanish club Espanyol. The club said Monday that its current owners, Chinese group Rastar reached an agreement with VSL to join the holding company and 'participate in a strategic alliance that will position RCD Espanyol at the same level" as Premier League club Burnley, which is also part of the group. 'With this deal, Espanyol and the English club will be part of this investment group, which expands its interests by having a club in La Liga and another in the Premier League, although each will remain independent,' Espanyol said in a statement. 'This business integration formula allows for the coexistence of two historic clubs that will operate independently, although they will be supported by the same financial group,' Espanyol said. Espanyol said the agreement is 'pending officialization and completion until all administrative procedures are formalised.' The club said Rastar 'is not disassociating itself from Espanyol, but rather its shares will become part of this new investment vehicle that will have stakes in both clubs.' Espanyol said that with this "step forward, Rastar underlines a firm conviction that this integration into the VSL group will strengthen both the economic and sporting structure" of the club. Espanyol, which was twice relegated in the decade or so under Rastar, finished 14th in the league's standings last season. The club's fans had been showing their disappointment with Rastar owner Chen Yansheng for years. Financial details were not released by the club. ___ AP soccer: recommended Item 1 of 3 in this topic
