Detectives launch hunt for thief who broke into Helensburgh flat and stole jewellery and car
A brazen thief broke in to a Helensburgh home and stole jewellery and car keys – only to return later that night to steal a car from the same property.
Police are now appealing for information after the break-in occurred at a property in the town's Strathclyde Court on Tuesday, July 29.
Detectives probing the incident believe it happened some time before 4pm that day.
They say the thief gained access to the property and a quantity of jewellery was stolen along with car keys.
A red Toyota Auris, with a registration number of SG18 SVK, was then driven away from the property at around 11.40pm on the same day.
It was reported that when driving away, the vehicle crashed into other parked cars so may have damage to the front.
Detective Constable John Pryde said: 'Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the car and those responsible, and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or has any information that could assist to contact us.
'We would also ask anyone with dash-cam, ring doorbell or private CCTV to check their footage from Tuesday and get in touch if they have captured anything that could assist our investigation.'
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland quoting incident number 1103 of July 30.
