Glasgow brewery bar set to host new festival that will bring country music to Scotland
One of Glasgow's best-known brewery bars is getting ready to turn the east end into the Wild West, as Drygate Brewing Co. prepares to launch a brand new country music festival this summer.
Country Fest will take place on the weekend of August 16 and 17, transforming the city centre venue into a haven for country fans, complete with live music, line dancing and themed entertainment.
Organisers are promising two days packed with energy and fun, with a line-up of 12 live acts and a mix of entertainment that includes a bucking bronco, southern-style food, and group dancing led by line-dancing favourite Maggie, who has been dubbed the 'queen of the rodeo', Glasgow Live reports.
Among the confirmed performers is alt-pop and country crossover artist Roisin McCarney, who will headline the event.
She'll be joined by a variety of emerging and established acts set to bring a blend of classic country, folk and Americana to Glasgow.
Drygate's team said: 'Whether you're a die-hard country fan or just love a great live show, this is a festival not to be missed. Dust off those boots, grab your hat, and join us for a day of non-stop music, dancing, and good ol' country fun.'
Festivalgoers are being encouraged to embrace the dress code, with cowboy boots, hats and western-themed outfits all welcome.
The venue will be decorated to match the mood, giving fans a taste of Nashville in the heart of Scotland's biggest city.
The event is being organised by Drygate's general manager Jamie McCann, who said the team are excited to unveil something a little different this summer.
'We've been counting down the days, this event is going to be something special,' Jamie said.
'Our team is ready, and we can't wait to share the energy with everyone who walks through the door. It's going to be something you don't wanna miss.'
Drygate Brewing Co., located near Glasgow Cathedral and the Tennent's Wellpark Brewery, has long been a fixture of the city's craft beer and live entertainment scene.

Known for its large taproom, beer hall, and event space, the venue regularly hosts music nights, food pop-ups and festivals, but this will be its first foray into country music on this scale.
Tickets are now on sale via the Drygate website, with day passes priced at £18 for Saturday and £12 for Sunday.
Availability is limited, and organisers expect a strong turnout given the popularity of themed music events in the city.
With the recent rise in popularity of country music in the UK, boosted by acts like Luke Combs and Kelsea Ballerini selling out major venues, Drygate's Country Fest is set to be a welcome addition to the Glasgow festival calendar.

Video of Morgan Gibbs-White transfer U-turn gets same response from ALL football fans
Tottenham were seemingly closing in on the signing of Morgan Gibbs-White earlier this month but the Nottingham Forest star has now signed a record contract to stay put Morgan Gibbs-White has officially committed his future to Nottingham Forest - just weeks after the attacking midfielder looked all but certain to join Tottenham. News broke earlier this month that Spurs had triggered a £60million release clause in the 25-year-old's contract. However, Forest were left angered by what they considered to be an illegal approach from their Premier League rivals for one of their most influential stars. Gibbs-White has since played for Forest in pre-season as all talk of finalising said move to Spurs went quiet. And the club have now confirmed that Gibbs-White has signed a club-record three-year deal, putting an end to speculation over the midfielder's future. A video showing Gibbs-White and Evangelos Marinakis, the club's owner, was posted online to announce the news. But some mischievous fans have quipped that the Forest star looked like a 'hostage' in said video. One social media user joked: "Nothing like a hostage video with your captor standing beside you so you don't cry for help! #FreeGibbsWhite". Another poster quipped: "Gibbs-White fake smiling with his owner after being held hostage at Forest just like Olise at Palace." Teen girl suffers horror head injury after 'freak accident' on fairground ride
Police confirmed they are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) following the incident on Saturday night. A teenage girl has been left with potentially life-changing head injuries after her hair became trapped on a ride at a popular fair. The 18-year-old was rushed to hospital following the incident at the Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show around 10.50pm on Saturday, reports the Mirror. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary confirmed they are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as part of the investigation. A woman who was at the scene said she helped give first aid to the stricken teen as panic broke out. She said: 'One of the girl's friends came down and said how serious it was and some of us offered assistance. It's very shocking it could happen on a fairground ride that young children go on. This must never happen again." Fair owner Charles Cole said he 'sympathises' with the girl and her family and revealed her hair became trapped on the Fun House walk-on attraction. Speaking earlier today, he added: 'Approximately 50 people had been on the ride before the 18-year-old, and there were no issues. 'The ride is 20 years old but it had been tested that day. This was a freak accident. Somehow, the girl's hair got caught and she could not grab on to the handrails. 'Nobody wants to hurt anyone, and we are a family business. Last night was very upsetting, especially for the man who owns the ride. Safety is our priority, and we sympathise with the girl and her parents." A post on the show's Facebook page on Sunday insisted: 'Good morning from day three of the show. Despite what you may have read or seen online, we are open and look forward to seeing you all!" The ride has been shut down while police and safety inspectors investigate.
