Footage has captured the moment a 15-year-old began rummaging through the rubbish bins at a local cafe shortly after allegedly murdering a 58-year-old fashion mogul in his own home.
Greg Josephson, 58, was found dead at his Clayfield house in the city's north, shortly after 8pm on Thursday night.
Mr Josephson co-founded the youth-focused Universal Store clothing company with his brother Michael in 1999, in the southeast Brisbane suburb of Carindale.
The alleged murder happened while about 30 teenagers were having a party at the home.
Mr Josephson and a 15-year-old known to him allegedly were involved in an altercation in which the multi-millionaire sustained critical injuries.
The teenager was arrested and charged with one count of murder.
CCTV has now emerged of the moments shortly after the alleged murder which shows the boy rummaging through the rubbish bins of a local cafe in Ascot.
The boy, who is wearing dark clothes, walks over to the back of the venue where multiple rubbish bins can be seen.
He picks up and moves two of them while holding a white piece of cloth.
The boy sustained minor injuries to his hand, police said.
Police have since searched the cafe as part of their investigation.
On Friday, in Brisbane Children's Court, Magistrate Megan Power ordered a brief evidence which is set to be provided to the defence by August 22.
He will remain in custody until the case returns to court on September 2.
Acting Assistant Commissioner Rhys Wildman said a household knife was used during the alleged murder.
Police allege the 15-year-old made the triple 0 call himself before being arrested at a street nearby.
'There was some sort of altercation that's resulted in this 58-year old male tragically losing his life,' he said.
'It's not a case of carrying knives, it's unfortunately allotted in a home.
'This is quite a traumatic incident that occurred, so the welfare of those young people will also be considered in this.'
Inspector Jane Healy said police arrived to a 'confronting' scene.
'We are still establishing the timeline of what has happened at this address. There were about 30 young people here,' Inspector Healy said.
'It's still extremely early and the situation was quite chaotic, confusing and confronting scene when police arrived.
'Police are not looking for any other party, so it was an individual, the 15-year-old is the sole offender that we allege was involved in this incident.'
Neighbours who spoke to the Courier Mail said partygoers were desperately trying to leave the party.
'They were just like 'we want to go home, and we're not allowed to leave'.
'They were devastated,' the neighbour said.
They said the party was so quiet that they did not even realise anyone was home.
'It was extremely quiet, I wouldn't have even known there was a party going on last night.'
Family's mansion had recently gone up for sale
Mr Josephson's family had recently listed their 'five-star' mansion for sale and spoke of his sadness at moving the family to Noosa.
He had purchased the home with his wife Tamra in 2017.
'We were looking for a big family home and this was in very original condition,' Mr Josephson told The Courier-Mail at the time.
'It was perched on a peak with vistas to the Gateway Bridge and mountains, and the house had character, a solid structure, and was on a big block.'
Mr Josephson and his brother sold Universal Store for more than $100 million in 2018, with the company since becoming an ASX-listed company worth close to $600 million.
Since the 2018 sale Mr Josephson has been chief executive of Josephson Holdings Pty Ltd, according to his LinkedIn, but appears to have kept a relatively low public profile.
