Rain chance today far west; Turning windy, hot, and dry this weekend
In the short-term forecast, warm temperatures and mainly dry conditions are the big headlines to watch in KELOLAND over the next few days. We have lots of sunshine to start the day in Aberdeen.
Our 24-hour rain reports show how scattered showers and thundershower clipped western SD yesterday.
That rain could redevelop again in patches in western SD. Notice how the rain is moving from south to north, not west to east.
Clouds in Rapid City will keep temperatures cooler in the 60s. Meanwhile, Sioux Falls and Aberdeen will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Highs tomorrow will average in the 70s as the upper level disturbance to our southwest pulls away from western KELOLAND. After that, expect warmer temperatures heading into Mother's Day Weekend.
The weather pattern continue to feature the strong influence of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere. We will warm into early next week with widespread 80s and 90s expected in KELOLAND. A storm system should enter KELOLAND around Wednesday of next week. We'll watch and see if it brings storms and rain chances to portions of the northern plains.
Here are the details of the forecast.
