Olympique Lyonnais' relegation to Ligue 2 was overturned by the French soccer federation (FFF) on Wednesday after an appeal by the club.
The FFF has imposed a framework for the wage bill and transfer fees in the club's proposed 2025/2026 Ligue 1 budget.
"Olympique Lyonnais welcomes today's decision by the DNCG to keep the club in Ligue 1," Lyon said in a statement.
"Olympique Lyonnais would like to thank the Appeals Committee for recognising the ambition of the club's new management team, which is determined to ensure that the club is managed seriously in the future."
Lyon were demoted by French football's financial watchdog (DNCG) in November due to the poor state of their finances.
The decision was confirmed in June after a meeting between U.S. businessman and club owner John Textor and the DNCG.

Ireland name two new caps to start against Portugal
Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox LISBON - Ireland will hand first caps to winger Shayne Bolton and flanker Alex Kendellen as a much depleted side take on Portugal in their test in Lisbon on Saturday. Uncapped centre Hugh Gavin from Connacht is also set for a debut as he was named on Thursday among the replacements by interim coach Paul O'Connell, who made five changes to the side that won 34-5 over Georgia last Saturday. Ireland have the bulk of their regulars away touring in Australia with the British & Irish Lions as well as head coach Andy Farrell and Simon Easterby, who stood in for Farrell during the Six Nations earlier this year. Connacht's Bolton comes in on the left wing in place of Jacob Stockdale, who was a first-half casualty in Tbilisi last Saturday and returned to Ireland for treatment during the week. At flyhalf, Jack Crowley gets an opportunity as Sam Prendergast is rested. Kendellen starts in a back row that includes Ryan Baird and the returning Cian Prendergast while Tom Ahern makes his first international start after coming off the bench last weekend, and he will partner Darragh Murray in the second row. 'I have been really pleased with the attitude of the players over the last number of weeks,' O'Connell said in a statement naming the team. 'The dedication and diligence of the squad in testing conditions over in Tbilisi demonstrated the players' willingness to embrace challenges, and hopefully that bodes well again this weekend. 'Portugal are another impressive emerging side who look to play an exciting brand of rugby, and we know that we're in for another battle, hopefully in front of another big crowd of travelling supporters,' he added. Team: 15-Jimmy O'Brien, 14–Tommy O'Brien, 13–Jamie Osborne, 12–Stuart McCloskey, 11–Shayne Bolton, 10–Jack Crowley, 9–Craig Casey (captain), 8–Cian Prendergast, 7–Alex Kendellen, 6–Ryan Baird, 5–Darragh Murray, 4–Thomas Ahern, 3–Thomas Clarkson, 2–Gus McCarthy, 1–Jack Boyle. Replacements: 16–Tom Stewart, 17–Michael Milne, 18–Tom O'Toole, 19–Cormac Izuchukwu, 20–Max Deegan, 21–Ben Murphy, 22–Ciaran Frawley, 23–Hugh Gavin. REUTERS

Former England captain Farrell named for Lions tour match against AUNZ
Sign up now: Get ST's newsletters delivered to your inbox MELBOURNE - Former England captain Owen Farrell has been named in the replacements for the British & Irish Lions' tour match against an Australia-New Zealand Invitational XV in Adelaide on Saturday. Lions head coach Andy Farrell brought son Owen into the squad last week following Elliot Daly's broken arm, which ruled the versatile back out of the three-match test series against the Wallabies. Though boasting 118 England caps and three previous Lions tours, the 33-year-old playmaker's inclusion was polarising given he has not played a test since 2023 and is coming off an injury-plagued season in French club rugby. Andy Farrell, who defended Owen's inclusion last week, said on Thursday his son was no different to other teammates in needing to catch up fast to the Lions' playbook. "He's the same as everyone else who's had to get up to speed pretty quickly," Farrell told a press conference in Adelaide on Thursday. "Everyone had to at the start and a few have come in since. I think the art of this stage of the tour is mentally being as switched on as you possibly can. "There's not that much training that you can do. We're at a captain's run tomorrow and that's the preparation for this game." With only a couple of days' break following the laboured 36-24 win over the ACT Brumbies, Farrell has overhauled his squad while retaining a few players from Canberra. Winger Mack Hansen and loose forward Henry Pollock, who each played off the bench against the Brumbies, were included in the starting 15. England playmaker Marcus Smith has also been retained on the bench after replacing injured fullback Blair Kinghorn when he came off in the first half in Canberra with knee trouble. Farrell said he was hoping for good news on Kinghorn ahead of the first Wallabies test in Brisbane on July 19. "Whether it's going to be long term or shortish term, I don't think it's as bad as what could have been," he added. "It was something innocuous, really. Just a rugby accident that was unfortunate." Hugo Keenan will start in the number 15 jersey in Kinghorn's place in Adelaide, with lock Tadhg Beirne to captain the side as Maro Itoje is rested. Farrell's team will face 14 test players in the AUNZ line-up coached by Les Kiss at Adelaide Oval, their final run-out before the Wallabies. "As a unit, how they gel together, there's a little bit of unknown there," Farrell said of their opponents. "It looks like a formidable side, doesn't it, that's going to be hard to stop." Team: 15-Hugo Keenan, 14-Mack Hansen, 13-Huw Jones, 12-Sione Tuipulotu, 11-Duhan van der Merwe, 10-Fin Smith, 9-Ben White, 8-Ben Earl, 7-Jac Morgan, 6-Henry Pollock, 5-Tadhg Beirne (capt), 4-James Ryan, 3-Will Stuart, 2-Luke Cowan-Dickie, 1-Pierre Schoeman Replacements: 16-Ronan Kelleher, 17-Andrew Porter, 18-Finlay Bealham, 19-Scott Cummings, 20-Josh van der Flier, 21-Alex Mitchell, 22-Marcus Smith, 23-Owen Farrell REUTERS

Scotland have eye on World Cup seeding as they ready to face Fiji
SUVA - Scotland are aware that vital World Cup seeding points are up for grabs when they take on Fiji in a test on their Pacific tour, adding to the importance of the contest on Saturday, said coach Gregor Townsend. In the December draw for the 2027 World Cup in Australia, the top six in the World Rugby rankings will earn a seeding in the first round pools for the tournament that has been expanded to 24 teams, making a win vital for seventh-placed Scotland. At the 2023 World Cup, Scotland were unseeded and ended up being paired with Ireland and South Africa in the group stage and failed to get past the first round. "This is a very important game along with next week's test against Samoa and also the tests we have in November to put ourselves in the best possible position to get in that top six," Townsend said at a virtual press conference on Thursday. Scotland are narrowly behind sixth-placed Argentina on points, putting the seeding firmly on players' minds. "That can be a bit of added pressure and that's good. These games are all massive and our approach is to go out and win," added Rory Darge, who captains the side in Suva on Saturday. "It's something we've talked about but we can't really look beyond Fiji in Fiji because that's going to be a massive challenge," he said. Townsend said Scotland's approach on their tour, which started with a hard-fought win over the Maori All Blacks in New Zealand last weekend, was to field two separate teams for the opening two matches. "We'd planned to mix it up which is an element of risk. But what I believe works well for us, and has worked in the past, you get that cohesion with this team that is going out against Fiji, having trained together now for the last two or three weeks," the coach added.
