Nordstrom closing 2 stores by end of summer: See where
Two Nordstrom stores are set to close by the end of the summer amid a wave of closures and shake-ups across the retail industry. A Nordstrom spokesperson confirmed that the closures of two locations, one in Santa Monica, California, and the other in St. Louis, Missouri, are set to happen later this year. The company said, despite the closures, they hope to transition employees at the affected stores to other locations. 'We believe we'll be best able to serve customers in each region by leveraging our surrounding stores and through our digital channels,' a spokesperson told USA TODAY. 'Decisions like this are never easy, and we understand the impact they have on our team members. We're committed to taking care of our employees through this transition, including supporting those who are interested in finding another role within Nordstrom.' The closures come on the heels of other iconic retailers closing locations across the country. Back in March, Macy's said it would be closing 150 underproductive stores, and in the same month, Kohl's said it would be closing 27. In May, JCPenney closed seven locations across the country, while last month, At Home filed for bankruptcy and said it would be closing 26 "underperforming" stores. What Nordstrom stores are closing? According to a Nordstrom spokesperson, the following stores are closing: Dick's House of Sports will be replacing the Nordstrom closing in St. Louis, Fox 2 reported. Nordstrom goes private after being acquired for $6.25 billion Nordstrom is now a private company after a $6.25 billion deal finalized in May 2025, where the Nordstrom family and Mexican retailer El Puerto de Liverpool acquired the company. "For over a century, Nordstrom has operated with a foundational principle of helping customers feel good and look their best," Erik Nordstrom, chief executive officer of Nordstrom, said in a December 2024 statement. "Today marks an exciting new chapter for the business. On behalf of my family, we look forward to working with our teams to ensure Nordstrom thrives long into the future." The breakdown in Nordstrom's ownership is now 50.1% by the Nordstrom Family and 49.9% by Liverpool, according to a December 2024 news release. According to the retailer's website, it has more than 350 Nordstrom, Nordstrom Local and Nordstrom Rack locations. Fernando Cervantes Jr. is a trending news reporter for USA TODAY. Veho Expands E-Commerce Delivery to St. Louis, Cleveland and Pittsburgh
Customer-Centric, Tech Enabled E-Commerce Delivery Now Available in 53 U.S. Cities NEW YORK, July 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Veho, the technology company operating the fastest-growing alternative parcel delivery platform in the U.S., continues its nationwide expansion with the launch of e-commerce delivery services in St. Louis, Missouri; Cleveland, Ohio; and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Veho now serves 118 million Americans across 53 metropolitan areas. In just the last six months, Veho has doubled its volume of e-commerce deliveries because its technology enables its 85,000 driver-partners to deliver more reliably, quickly, cost effectively, and provide a better delivery and brand experience, than legacy national or regional carriers. This is why Veho has become a delivery partner of choice for major retail and e-commerce brands, delivering millions of parcels per month for household names like Macy's, Saks, Zara, Lululemon, Stitch Fix, Hello Fresh, and dozens more. Veho's expansion comes as legacy delivery carriers are shrinking, including by reducing services, raising rates, closing facilities, or laying off staff. Veho's beginning service today in St. Louis, Cleveland and Pittsburgh builds upon a series of recent launches, including in New York City, Richmond, Virginia, and Louisville, Kentucky – and after recently experimenting with robot-assisted delivery in Austin, Texas. "As e-commerce consumers, we all want deliveries that are fast, reliable, and hassle-free. When that happens, it's a win-win: brands reduce costs from refunds and replacements, and customers are more likely to buy again," said Albert Silva, Veho's Senior Vice President of Operations. "That's why we're excited to bring Veho's industry-leading delivery experience to St. Louis, Cleveland, and Pittsburgh, combining best-in-class cost, speed, and reliability to help brands grow and consumers come back." In expanding to St. Louis, Veho will serve an additional 1.5 million people in the area through over 10,000 deliveries per week. Driver-partners will operate out of Veho's new facility just south of downtown. Cleveland is the fourth metropolitan area in Ohio to which Veho has expanded service, following Cincinnati and Dayton in 2022 and Columbus in 2024. The company expects over 10,000 parcels to be delivered in the greater Cleveland area, based out of Veho's new facility near Warrensville Heights. Veho's expansion into Pittsburgh is also a natural progression given the company's significant presence and regional parcel sortation hub in Philadelphia. Veho expects over 10,000 parcels to be delivered in the Pittsburgh area per week. About VehoVeho is the fastest-growing parcel delivery platform in America because its technology enables more reliable, faster, cost competitive delivery enabling a superior delivery experience. The industry-leading results speak for themselves: 99% on-time-delivery, 4.9/5 customer satisfaction score, 71% fewer delivery-related refunds, and a 41% increase in customer lifetime value.
