An article on Page 38 this weekend about Luke Littler, widely considered to be the world's best darts player, misstates the duration of the Premier League darts competition. It is four months long, not six.

Norris wins home British Grand Prix

Lando Norris won a treacherous rain-hit British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday from his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Sauber's Nico Hulkenberg took third for the veteran German's first ever podium in 239 races. Advertisement Briton Norris returned to a rapturous reception from his home fans as he moved to within eight points of Piastri in the drivers' standings. "It's beautiful, everything I ever dreamed of, this is everything I wanted to achieve, aside from winning the championship this is as good as it gets," beamed Norris. Piastri, who finished less than seven seconds behind Norris, threw away the win after the Australian was hit with a 10-second penalty for a safety car infringement. As last week's heatwave gave way to a more typical British summer's day -- spells of blue sky mixed with torrential showers -- drivers had to keep their wits about them with puddles forming on the track. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton came in fourth ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen. nr/lp/nf

Lando Norris Wins First Home Grand Prix After Piastri 10 Second Penalty

The British Grand Prix was marred by a mid-race rainstorm and a major penalty to the leader; it ended with Lando Norris winning his first British Grand Prix, capturing his first home Grand Prix. Max Verstappen kept the lead on the restart against Oscar Piastri. A Virtual safety car for Bortoleto spun on lap 6, followed by a full safety car on lap 17 for the heavy rainstorm. Piastri took the lead from Verstappen on lap eight and controlled the race until a major penalty on the lap 21 restart. Piastri and Verstappen were lined up for the restart on lap 21, where Piastri braked after accelerating following the Safety Car turning off its lights. Verstappen reacted and a few moments later spun from P2. "Apparently, you can't break behind the safety car anymore," Piastri told F1TV about the penalty following the race. "I did it for five laps before that. I'm not going to say too much, I'll get myself in trouble. I still like Silverstone, even if I don't like it today." Midway through the race, the battle was for third position as Lance Stroll worked to keep third place with two fairytale stories following him. With Hamilton in fifth chasing his first Ferrari Podium and 16th at Silverstone, and Nico Hulkenberg chasing a career first podium in his 239th start. "It's been a long time coming," Hulkenberg said of his victory. "I always knew we had it in us, I had it in me somewhere. What a race, coming from virtually last, doing it all over again from last week." The midfield started the pit cycle to move off of wet tires. Fernando Alonso and George Russell were the first to experiment and went too early. Russell went around through the grass but returned to the straightaway. Piastri's 10-second penalty was served on his final pit stop to take off the Wet tires and move to the Mediums. Norris followed a lap later and left the pits as the leader. Piastri, angry about his major penalty, drove off the track and asked for a position swap. Norris, who had nothing to do with the penalty situation, was not required by McLaren to give back the lead, and the seven points cut into Piastri's championship lead.
