BBC Sport Wales asked Cardiff City fans for their views on potential new ownership of the club by a Gareth Bale-led consortium and the new management after the appointment of Brian Barry-Murphy as head coach.Kathryn Barnard:I have supported Cardiff City for 60 years and over the past few seasons I have not enjoyed it at all. Tan has no clue how to run a football club and it breaks my heart to find us in Division One. We need some fresh blood and I would be delighted to see Gareth Bale and his Associates come in and make my club a Premier League Club again.David Thomas:I think the club need a change of direction, no identity or solid leadership for a while now at Cardiff City, we became an established Championship team but then struggled with lack of, or correct investment, in the right players and managers. Grateful to Mr V Tan for the many good seasons and taking us to the Premiership and previous good players and managers, but now in League 1, a rebuild and new leadership is required to steer the club in right direction and unite fans and club again.Callum Harding:BBM quite an underwhelming appointment, but has fantastic opportunity to work with some really talented youngsters. Bale would have the City rocking. Although the fans would take anyone to replace Tan at this point, not just an American consortium fronted by Bale!Shaun Bond:[Bale] Would make a lot of us fans very happy. Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has slammed the current Club World Cup as 'the worst idea ever in football' in a brutally honest swipe at FIFA. Klopp, 58, appeared to be wholly unimpressed with the path taken by the sport's decision-makers to introduce a newly-expanded 32-team format this summer. The tournament, which is currently being held in the United States, has come in for heavy criticism for adding to what many players and managers believe to be a saturated schedule. It has seen many of Europe's top clubs - including the likes of PSG, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Chelsea - have a truncated off-season due to their requirement to participate in the tournament. Klopp has become the latest high-profile figure to express his disdain for the tournament, pointing out that its positioning in the calendar could see numerous top players get injured. Speaking to German newspaper Welt am Sonntag, he said: 'The Club World Cup is the worst idea ever implemented in football. 'People who have never had anything to do with day-to-day business are coming up with ideas. 'I fear that next season players will suffer injuries they've never had before. If not, then it'll happen at the World Cup or afterwards.' The German, who is now Red Bull's global chief of football, was an outspoken advocate on the importance of player welfare during his time as Liverpool manager. In August 2022, he compared the issue of player welfare to climate change ahead of that year's World Cup taking place mid-season in Qatar. He said at the time: 'If you go to the final at a World Cup and win it or lose or a third-place match you are already quite busy and then the rest starts a week later. 'If all the players then have a break it is not a problem, it is good. It is like a winter break which I had that in Germany as a player a lot, four weeks (off), stuff like that. 'When I start talking about it, I get really angry... It is like with the climate. We all know it has to change but nobody is saying what we have to do.' 'My problem is that as much as everybody knows it's not right, nobody talks often enough about it that it will be changed. Something has to change. 'This World Cup happens at the wrong moment for the wrong reasons.' Klopp also revealed why he opted to turn down the chance to manage the German national team at the end of the 2022-23 season. He had the chance to take the Germany job while still at Anfield, only to stay on Merseyside for one more year. However, his decision to subsequently leave the Reds came as a major surprise with Liverpool leading the Premier League title race at the time. Klopp also explained that he 'could have said yes' when presented with the chance to manage his home country. He admitted that 'it might have been better to do something else' after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign for Liverpool. That saw his side finish fifth in the Premier League and miss out on Champions League football Explaining why he chose not to move into international management, he said: I didn't want to. And the decision wasn't about the job of national coach per se. 'I couldn't leave Liverpool like that. There was a team there, there were people I had a relationship with. I wanted to put things right again with [players new to the squad] and the core team. That was important to me.'

GEMMA Atkinson has sparked controversy after turning to crowdfunding to raise £500,000 to launch her own beauty brand. The actress has already attracted an impressive social media following for her skincare company Gem & Tonic, which aims to provide products to "simplify your beauty regime". 5 5 "Every single product combines scientifically-proven ingredients with mineral rich gemstones," she said. As she prepares to "officially launch" the brand in September 2025, Gemma has decided to try and raise funds through Crowdcube - which asks people to "invest in Europe's best startups". On the Crowdcube page, which has already raised £48,296 from 354 different investors, Gemma says: "We're now looking to raise £500,000 to officially launch in September 2025 to continue the movement and the community we've already started. "If you're looking to invest in a brand with a real community in real demand, you've found yourself a real good gem." The page also highlights some of the company's successes to date, including the fact they made £127,000 in pre-order sales in just three weeks. The equity investment has a share price of 90p and a pre-money valuation of £2.25 million. "The Company had already raised £250,000 prior to the Crowdcube raise," the page reads. "For the avoidance of doubt, this has been included in the pre-money valuation displayed in the pitch." And for those investing in the business, there are various 'rewards' for doing so - all of which start from an investment of £50. Investing £50 will get you a signed thank you card from Gemma, while for £25,000 you'll get to "meet Gemma and have lunch with the G&T team", as well as an investor-only lifetime discount of 15%, a product bundle, an invite to the press launch, lifetime early access to new products and Gemma's signed thank you note. "Why hasn't she used her own money?" one wrote. "I don't want to Invest of your not engaged to the hilt in every financial way." "Crowd funding to make herself rich," another added. "Ok send me money and I'll start a business!" "So she wants people to help her… doesn't she know about the cost of living crisis us normal people are dealing with?" a third commented. "Over 1/2 mil in her bank - usual rich get richer!" someone else sighed. "Crowd funding? Gemma can do one," another raged. "Bloody hell she has more than most for money!" someone else said. And as another labelled it ridiculous, someone else agreed, writing: "Clearly not confident in her own idea to fully invest herself, putting up her property as collateral. "Guaranteed to fail." Makin makes history with PSA Squash Tour Finals title win
British number one Joel Makin has become the first Welsh player to win the PSA Squash Tour Finals after he beat world number one Mostafa Asal at Toronto's Revival Film 30-year-old won the first two games 11-10, 11-7, before Asal, 24, retired from the match due to an ankle injury after the Egyptian went 1-0 behind in the third game. Makin was appearing in the first major PSA final of his career and he has now won the 10th - and biggest - title of his career. It is Makin's second title of the season after also winning the Silicon Valley Open in October 2024."I've just been chipping away, and it's not been a short process, that's for sure," said Makin."It was a really high quality one, the same as last night [against Diego Elias].
