
Skims inks new partnership with League One Volleyball
As part of the partnership, Skims will participate in LOVB community and athlete-driven events, league-wide activations, and more throughout the season. The deal will also provides Skims with exposure across LOVB's official digital platforms, events, and broadcasts.

Italy opens probe into Meta over AI tool in WhatsApp
Meta owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. Several months ago, its Meta AI tool appeared on the screens of the WhatsApp messaging service. "In March 2025, Meta, which holds a dominant position in the market for consumer communications apps, decided to pre-install its artificial intelligence service on the WhatsApp app," Italy's antitrust body said in a statement. "In doing so, Meta may be 'imposing' the use of its chatbot and AI assistance services on its users." It said merging Meta AI with WhatsApp, Meta could be "channelling its customer base into the emerging market, not through merit-based competition, but by 'imposing' the availability of the two distinct services upon users, potentially harming competitors." The antitrust authority said it carried out an inspection of the premises of Meta's Italian subsidiary on Tuesday along with Italy's Financial Police. It also said it was investigating the company "in close cooperation with the competent departments of the European Commission". 'I didn't feel safe': Banned Canada coach explains move to New Zealand
Wellington Phoenix announced Wednesday that Priestman would take over as head coach of its women's team, returning to football in the country she was banned for spying on with a drone, New Zealand. She has signed a two-year contract. The 39-year-old was visibly emotional as she discussed her suspension, and how nervous she is to be returning to the sport. "I didn't feel safe," Priestman said of living in Canada after the Olympics. "That's being brutally honest. It was very difficult for my family, and I have to live with that. "Obviously it was an absolute media frenzy. You've got people knocking at your door and everything, and I've got a little boy. "Without going into too much detail, it was very difficult. We knew we had to get out of that country." Governing body FIFA banned Priestman for one year after her coaching team used a drone to snoop on New Zealand before they played at the Paris games. New Zealand had spotted drones flying over their training sessions before their opening match and reported it to officials. An investigation found the Canadian team had been spying on rival training sessions for some time. Priestman said she is prevented from speaking about the situation in detail, due to ongoing legal discussions. But on her return to New Zealand she said she had talked to players and officials. She said the move to Wellington was an opportunity to "reset" her career, and rebuild. On Tuesday night, hours after her ban was lifted, she ran her first coaching session in more than a year. "I celebrated last night coaching the under-7s, my son's team, in the pouring Wellington rain," Priestman said. "That was a nice, humbling experience. They got all the energy from me in that moment because I've just been itching to do that." Priestman won the Olympic gold with Canada at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, and is the best credentialed coach to come to the women's A League. She said she had learned from her ban, and her experience with Canada, and would be a better coach for it. "There's certain values that I hold and unfortunately, you know, things around me have clouded my judgement," Priestman said. "So for me personally, I just want to get back to... I love working with people. I love getting the best out of people. I love being on a football pitch. "I just want to create a special moment for this city, for this country and move forward." Wellington Phoenix chairman Rob Morrison said he was "really pleased to be able to welcome Bev back to football". "We all know she's had a period of time away from the game, but we understand the circumstances and we're really comfortable with this appointment. "Bev can't wait to get started, and we're really happy that she's going to be coaching the Phoenix."

Gucci owner Kering posts 46% profit slump before new CEO arrives
French luxury group Kering reported Tuesday a 46 percent plunge in net profit during the first half, with sales slumping again at its flagship Gucci brand, as the group awaits a new CEO to try to regain its footing. See catwalk Group net profit fell to 474 million euros ($547 million) in the first half from 878 million in the same period last year, on sales that were down 16 percent at 7.6 billion euros. Kering announced in June that it had poached Luca de Meo, then the head of French automaker Renault, to become chief executive and help turn around the company alongside Francois-Henri Pinault, who will remain board chairman. Pinault's family controls the holding company that is the largest shareholder in Kering, whose crosstown rival LVMH reported last week a 22 percent drop in first-half profit. Luxury groups worldwide have been hit hard by slowing Chinese appetite for luxury goods and by US President Donald Trump 's barrage of tariffs since returning to office this year, which could crimp demand in a North American market that represents a fourth of Kering's sales. "Though the numbers we are reporting remain well below our potential, we are certain that our comprehensive efforts of the past two years have set healthy foundations for the next stages in Kering's development," Pinault said in a statement. Gucci remains the prize in Kering's stable of brands, generating 44 percent of its sales and roughly two-thirds of its operating profit. But it has struggled to turn things around at the Italian fashion house famous for its handbags, and in March it wooed the Georgian designer Demna to take over as artistic director. Gucci's sales dropped 26 percent in the first half to 3.03 billion euros, for an operating profit of 486 million euros -- down 52 percent. But investors may have to wait for a recovery plan from De Meo, who has yet to take up his post. "The change in group management is positive, but earnings will remain under pressure in the short term," analysts at HSBC said in a note before the earnings release. "Luca de Meo will not take up his post until September 15, and it's unlikely that he will present his strategic plan before the publication of full-year results, expected in February 2026," they said. Kering's two other top brands are also facing headwinds, with Yves Saint Laurent sales falling 11 percent in the first half to 1.29 billion euros, and Bottega Veneta sales up just one percent at 846 million euros. Kering must also contend with a debt load that stood at 9.5 billion euros at the end of June, the result of acquisitions and investments in recent years. It bought a 30 percent stake in Valentino, took over the beauty brand Creed, and opened stores on key but pricey sites in cities including Paris and Milan. "Selling this real estate (below the purchase cost) is a bitter but necessary solution," analysts at Bernstein wrote ahead of the earnings statement. Kering said it was "stepping up the initiatives needed to support the development and growth of its houses, while implementing with determination the efforts required to increase its efficiency". "These actions imply particular vigilance with regards to financial discipline," it added.
