Hakimi Puts Bromance with Mbappé on Hold
'Mbappé is my friend, but each one defends his team,' Hakimi told reporters. 'I spoke with him before the tournament and he was sick, but now he is completely ready. I am happy to face him, but the most important thing is our team.'
Hakimi, 26, is expected to start at right-back for PSG in what will be one of the most anticipated fixtures of the tournament – Mbappé's first match against his former club since joining Real Madrid on a free transfer last summer.
Mbappé, who spent seven seasons at PSG, missed the group stage due to an inflammation in the stomach and intestines and has only featured from the bench in Madrid's knockout ties. But manager Xabi Alonso is reportedly ready to hand the 26-year-old his first start of the tournament.
Hakimi, who formed a well-known off-pitch bond with the French forward during their time in Paris, said that friendship will take a back seat for 90 minutes: 'As I said, he is a good friend of mine, and [meeting him in the semifinals will] be great, but I will defend the colours of my team, which is the most important thing of all.'
Nuno Mendes has the same sentiment: 'Yes, there's something extra because [Mbappé] was here with us. But the truth is that we're prepared to play against the entire Real Madrid team – that's our objective.'
PSG are chasing their first-ever Club World Cup Final appearance, and Hakimi has made it clear – their friendship can wait. Tags: HakimiKylian MbappePSGReal Madrid

CAF President Motsepe praises Morocco's role in hosting landmark Women's CAN 2024
The president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, emphasized on Saturday in Salé that the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2024), currently taking place in Morocco, will be the most memorable edition of the tournament to date. «This edition will undoubtedly be the most successful and memorable of all. I express my deep gratitude to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, as well as to the Moroccan people for their unwavering support for the development of African football», Motsepe stated during a press conference at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmora, a suburb of Salé, following a meeting of the CAF Executive Committee. After thanking the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) for hosting the committee's proceedings, the South African official praised the participation of African clubs in the Club World Cup, namely Wydad Casablanca, Espérance de Tunis, Egypt's Al Ahly, and South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns. Motsepe expressed hope that African teams will advance even further in future editions of the Club World Cup. He also highlighted Morocco's historic run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where the Atlas Lions reached the semi-finals. «Africa is proud of Morocco's performance», he said. «I am confident that an African team will be crowned World Champion in the future», he added, also predicting that Morocco will host the best-ever edition of the men's Africa Cup of Nations in 2025. The CAF Executive Committee meeting was held on the sidelines of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations, which runs from July 5 to 26 in Morocco.

Real Madrid Close in on Alvaro Carreras
Real Madrid are on the verge of signing Spanish left-back Álvaro Fernández Carreras from Benfica in a deal that will also see 21-year-old Castilla defender Rafael Obrador head to Lisbon, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. The agreement is expected to be finalised this week, with both moves registered as separate transfers. Carreras, 22, has a $50 million release clause in his contract. Initially, Madrid were expected to trigger it – which would have handed Manchester United a 20%sell-on fee, as agreed when they sold the full-back to Benfica last summer. Instead, Madrid will pay a lower cash fee and allow Obrador to join Benfica, effectively reducing the headline price while complying with FIFA rules that part-exchange valuations must reflect fair market value. Carreras left Old Trafford on loan in January 2024. He has helped Benfica in the Champions League knock-out rounds and triggered an obligation-to-buy clause after playing more than half the club's matches. Benfica completed the permanent deal last June for an initial $7.5m, which included United's sell-on and a $16 million buy-back option valid until 2026. Since arriving in Portugal, Carreras has impressed. He made 68 appearances across all competitions, scored 5 goals and 5 assists while clocking over 5,000 minutes of game time. Known for his progressive passing and intelligent positioning, the Spanish defender offers both defensive stability and attacking intent. Real Madrid have been in the market for a new left-back, with Ferland Mendy placed on the transfer list. Carreras has done enough to convince the club's technical staff that he is the right fit. Paperwork on both transfers is expected to be signed in the coming days. Once the fees are lodged with FIFA's Transfer Matching System, Manchester United will learn exactly how much they will recoup from the Benfica-Madrid deal. Real Madrid v Paris Saint-Germain: Preview & Score Prediction
Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain face off for a place in the Club World Cup final, with plenty on the line — pride, silverware, and one very big reunion. Kylian Mbappé will take on his former club for the first time since joining Real last year. Kick-off is at 8 p.m. Moroccan time (GMT+1), and fans can catch the action live on the DAZN website and app. Both sides have suspensions to deal with. Real defender Dean Huijsen is banned, while David Alaba, Eduardo Camavinga, and Ferland Mendy are still out injured. Éder Militão is back in training and could be on the bench. Coach Xabi Alonso must now decide whether to start Mbappé or stick with Gonzalo García, who has four goals in the tournament. PSG will be without defenders Lucas Hernández and Willian Pacho after both were sent off against Bayern. Lucas Beraldo is expected to step in. Ousmane Dembélé could start after scoring in the last round, although he's still building up fitness. Score Prediction Both teams are packed with attacking talent, but missing key names in the backline – even worse for PSG. Mbappé to score the winner against his old club? Wouldn't be a surprise.
