State Bank of India launches 250 billion rupee share sale to institutional investors

July 16 (Reuters) - State Bank of India (SBI.NS), opens new tab, the country's largest lender by assets, launched a 250 billion rupee ($2.9 billion) share sale to institutional investors on Wednesday.
The so-called floor price of the fundraise is 811.05 rupees per share, a 2.5% discount to the Wednesday's closing price, according to an exchange filing.
In May, the lender approved, opens new tab raising up to 250 billion rupees through modes including a so-called qualified institutional placement, which is used by listed Indian companies to raise funds from large institutions.
Earlier in the day, SBI approved raising up to 200 billion rupees through bonds during fiscal year 2026.
Shares of the bank ended 1.9% higher on the day, while the benchmark Nifty 50 (.NSEI), opens new tab index closed largely flat.

July 18 (Reuters) - India's equity benchmarks opened flat on Friday, as a decline in financial stocks, led by Axis Bank after a quarterly profit miss, offset gains across other sectors. The Nifty 50 (.NSEI), opens new tab was down 0.01% to 25,108.55 points, while the BSE Sensex (.BSESN), opens new tab lost 0.08% to 82,193.62, as of 9:15 a.m. IST. Ten of the 13 major sectors logged gains at the open.
