(Jason Franson / THE CANADIAN PRESS) Calgary police say officers removed more than a hundred people from local businesses over the weekend amid an influx of outlaw motorcycle gangs. Police issued a public warning on Friday that Calgarians could expect to see an increase in members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club and other groups around the city for a 'planned gathering.' On Monday, police confirmed to CTV News that 145 people were ejected from several businesses after staff grew 'concerned about the presence of members in their establishments.' Man charged for driving impaired, racing on Hwy. 417 in Ottawa
Ontario Provincial Police laid multiple charges against a 28-year-old man for allegedly racing and driving impaired on Highway 417 in Ottawa over the weekend. Police say officers were called about a crash on the highway near Innes Road shortly after 7 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police they had seen the driver racing another vehicle when he lost control of his car from failing to make the curve at the Highway 174 and 417 split, OPP said in a news release Monday. The driver was transported to hospital with minor injuries. Police say he had been allegedly consuming alcohol and registered more than twice the legal drinking limit. Officers allegedly also found alcohol and cannabis inside the vehicle. The man was arrested on two charges related to impaired driving, dangerous operation, racing and failing to properly wear a seatbelt. He had his driver's licence suspended for 90-days and received an automatic 30-day driving suspension. He is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa at a later date.

Late-night fast food craving results in impaired driving charge: Hamilton police
A Hamilton Police vehicle is pictured in Hamilton, Ont., Friday, May 2, 2025. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Nick Iwanyshyn A Hamilton police officer got more than he bargained for when a late-night craving for fast food led him to an impaired driver early Monday morning. Hamilton police said one of their officers pulled into a local fast food drive-thru at around 2:30 a.m. when he noticed the car in front of him wasn't moving. 'With hunger mounting and curiosity piqued, he got out to investigate,' a release issued Monday said. Police said the officer discovered the driver of the vehicle passed out behind the wheel and unresponsive. 'After several attempts to rouse the individual—and a strong scent of alcohol in the air— the officer determined the driver was impaired," the release said. When the officer was finally able to wake the driver up, police said they displayed 'clear signs' of intoxication. The individual was arrested and taken to the police station for breath testing, where readings of 101 and 96 milligrams of alcohol per 100 mls/blood were registered. The driver was later released on an Undertaking. 'Hamilton Police would like to remind the public that impaired is impaired—whether you're cruising down the highway or coasting toward a combo meal."
