Video footage shows the stressful moment a group of men start violently punching and kicking one another as commuters rush to get out of the way.
Amidst the chaos is a young toddler seen abandoned at the bottom of the stairs.
Nearby, a baby in a buggy can be seen crying as the fight breaks out on the opposite side of the barrier and the stairwell descends into chaos.
The video starts just after the brawl has begun, with a man on the floor being repeatedly punched by a group of men.
A suited man who ran up the stairs quickly begins stomping on the head of the grey tracksuit-wearing man.
Another commuter coming down the stairs tries to pull him away before another man intervenes, with the pair managing to restrain him from the attack.
The man in the suit then leans over the divider on the stairwell, grabs a rucksack and launches it backwards.
Once he is released by his detainees he then immediately rejoins the fight.
Several men lift the man in the tracksuit into the air as he thrashes wildly, kicking at the others.
The suited man then continues to kick him repeatedly before the man being attacked is dropped onto his back on the stairs.

He can then be seen trying to crawl up the stairs while at least three men continue to punch him.
Meanwhile commuters can be seen waiting at the top of the stairs as they watch the fight, or trying to dash quickly past.
A woman who had been holding the buggy can be heard screaming throughout the video as she earlier rushed towards the toddler.
The man who had earlier detained the alleged attacker eventually gives up, backing away from the ongoing altercation.
Another woman also tries to resolve the situation but backs away when she nearly gets caught by a punch.
She discourages a woman in a yellow dress from getting involved in the situation as she can be seen holding the arm of one of the reported attackers.
The woman then grabs one of the other men as the video cuts out.

British Transport Police hasn't yet released details of the incident, however, eyewitnesses claim one man punched the other while he was holding the baby, causing the toddler to fall to the ground.
The force said in a statement: "Officers received a report of a fight at Highbury and Islington Underground station at around 5.30pm yesterday.
'Officers are aware of footage circulating on social media, and the incident is currently being investigated.'

Comments on the video expressed concern for the toddler who had been left sitting on the floor throughout the ordeal.
One wrote: "Crazy, that poor kid could have been trampled."
Another said: "Odd that no one is picking up that baby and he is at risk of that whole nest of violence falling down upon him, and they'd most probably carry on brawling on top of him."
A comment reads: "This is just awful. That poor little boy on the floor. I do hope he's ok."
Metropolitan Police said that the incident was being handled by British Transport Police as the incident took place inside the station.

Taliban assassins have murdered at least ten Afghans who helped the West in the days since the Government revealed data of thousands who worked for the UK had been leaked. Four were killed in one execution this weekend, their bodies dumped in a ditch in a field, while another four have been killed separately after being forced out of Iran where they had been hiding. It is unclear if any of the dead were among the 100,000 'at risk of death' impacted by the data breach but the executions mark a dramatic increase in killings. Campaigners were checking reports the four killed in Badakhshan, some 200-miles north of the capital Kabul, were ex-Afghan Special Forces who had fought beside the UK and its allies in the 20-years of war with the Taliban. If correct, they say, one or more may have applied for relocation under the Afghan Relocation and Assistance Policy (ARAP) – meaning their details could have been among those leaked. Meanwhile, concerned British lawyers for Afghans hiding in Iran while their cases go through the courts in London or awaiting a decision from ARAP were urgently trying to verify if their clients are among those killed after being sent back to Afghanistan. Man brutally beaten up by friend, stripped naked and paraded through village while neighbours filmed him
A MAN has been jailed after brutally beating up a friend and parading him naked through the streets. Thug Karl Griffins, 42, received a huge sentence after the horrifying ordeal was caught on camera by neighbours. 3 3 Swansea Crown Court heard that Griffins spent much of the day and evening of January 30 at a friend's house in the Welsh village of Penclawdd. According to prosecutor Crag Jones, Griffins received a phone call and left the flat before returning and locking the door behind him. Then, he told everyone inside that they couldn't leave. Next, the court heard that he took the phones of his friend and his friend's partner and accused them of stealing from them though it was unclear whether he was accusing them of stealing money or drugs. Griffins refused to return the couple's phones and then beat the pair with his friend's girlfriend's crutches. The court heard that he punched his friend in the head, before demanding that he removed his clothes. Reportedly, Griffins told his friend that they were 'going for a walk' and 'paraded him naked around the streets'. Mobile phone footage of the victim near the Penclawdd CK store was recorded during the ordeal, before Griffins returned his friend to the flat. The 42-year-old smashed his friend's TV before calling the police and saying: 'Someone better come and get me, I'm going to kill someone.' Griffins was arrested and told authorities that he had gone to his friend's house after arguing with his mother. The 42-year-old was then slapped with a 31 month prison sentence, with half of his sentence to be served behind bars. His defence said that no disagreement between Griffins and his friend "could not remotely justify the level of humiliation and violence" caused by his client. He added that it was clear in the video footage that the victim was distressed as "he was marched through the centre of Penclawdd in a state of undress". Griffins' defence said that his client's actions could be explained through him being intoxicated and that he was now facing his addiction to controlled drugs. The 42-year-old has been granted enhanced-prisoner status at HMP Swansea and allegedly hopes that his former friend can forgive him in the future. Griffins has a history of criminal activity, including non-domestic burglaries, supplying Class A drugs and weapons offences. 3
