Davante Adams, Chris Godwin top Keyshawn Johnson's list of NFL free-agent WRs

Fox Sports06-03-2025
In a pass-happy league, an NFL team can't have enough wide receivers.
Luckily, there's a solid list of pass-catchers who'll be available on the open market this offseason. In fact, there are a few who can sign with teams before the legal tampering window opens at noon ET on Monday because they were released by their previous teams.
Two notable wide receivers joined that list on Wednesday. The Seattle Seahawks released longtime standout Tyler Lockett and the Jacksonville Jaguars cut Christian Kirk for cap purposes.
Those moves happened after Keyshawn Johnson, an 11-year receiver in the NFL and current co-host of FS1's "Speak," shared his top nine free-agent wide receivers this offseason. There are also a few other wide receivers who could be moved via trade. DK Metcalf and Cooper Kupp have both been granted permission to speak with other teams, while Tee Higgins could still be traded on the franchise tag.
Still, there are quality receivers on Johnson's list. So, let's take a look at his top nine.
Keyshawn's thoughts: "He had 39 receptions for 390 yards in his first season with the Tennessee Titans. You're not gonna do much better than that in Tennessee. Previously, he had two 1,000-yard seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018 and 2019."
Keyshawn's thoughts: "Since 2019, Slayon's led the Giants in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns."
Keyshawn's thoughts: "Many people would say [Thomas] is a big nepotism thing with me because it's my nephew, who didn't play last season because of his ankle rehab. So, I know the haters are going to start hating. He's a three-time Pro Bowler and a two-time All-Pro. He had four straight 1,000-yard seasons in New Orleans to start his career. He just turned 32 years old. He still has the single-season receptions record with 149."
Keyshawn's thoughts: "He missed the last nine games due to a torn ACL. Before that, he had six straight 1,000-yard seasons in Buffalo and Minnesota. But he'll turn 32 next season. A little bit older and coming off a torn ACL."
Keyshawn's thoughts: "Second-most receiving yards for the Cleveland Browns last season. He'll only be 25 years old next season, making him the third-youngest receiver on the open market."
Keyshawn's thoughts: "Cooper is a five-time Pro Bowler."
Keyshawn's thoughts: "A speedster, can take the top off it. He played in five games last season after spending 14 games on IR with a hurt shoulder. He's still young — he's only 27 years old. His last 1,000-yard season was in 2021 with the Baltimore Ravens, but he can still run though."
Keyshawn's thoughts: "His great year was derailed because of a dislocated ankle in Week 7, trying to score for no apparent reason at all. I don't even know why he was even out there. But through seven weeks, he led the league in receptions and had the second-most receiving yards. He's had four career 1,000-yard seasons."
Keyshawn's thoughts: "Davante, a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, had the only 1,000-yard season of any of these receivers. Away from Aaron Rodgers, he should be a pretty good sign for somebody."

Johnny Manziel Threatens Podcast Host In Bizarre Feud Over Cam Newton

Johnny Manziel Threatens Podcast Host In Bizarre Feud Over Cam Newton originally appeared on The Spun. Johnny Manziel appears to have inserted himself into the growing feud between fellow SEC legend Cam Newton and "Million Dollaz Worth of Game" host Gillie Da Kid. Coming to the defense of Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts after Cam didn't rank him as a top-10 NFL QB, Gillie — a Philly-born rapper turned podcaster — clapped back at the former No. 1 pick in a video posted to social media. "A good day, Cam Newton. I seen you came at me because I said Jalen Hurts did what you couldn't do… win a Super Bowl. So you wanna get all in your feelings? Man, shut your tight jeans wearin' a— up," Gillie said. "You had on a jersey with a bow tie, you corny a— [expletive]!" "What you do? You won MVP? Won a Super Bowl? Win the Super Bowl MVP? And you hating on him? 'Cause he did what you couldn't do [expletive], win a Super Bowl! And he been to two of 'em!" he continued. "So when you hate on him [expletive], just know you wasn't better than him." That led to Gillie further trolling Cam at his birthday party over the weekend when the host held up a Lombardi Trophy and yelled "Cam ain't never had one of these... I ain't going back and forth with you [expletive]!" That caused Johnny Football to step in— where the former Heisman Trophy winner made a pointed threat towards the 41-year-old regarding the next time they see each other. "Yo @gilliedakid you may be the biggest (expletive) loser on the planet," Manziel wrote Saturday. "Talking like you've (expletive) done anything on a football field. If I see you just know I'm going to slap the (expletive) out of you, trust." "I love million dollaz worth of game but that's the corniest (expletive) I've ever seen in my life," he added. "Can't wait for this response… Just set up the Rough & Rowdy and let's call it a day." Johnny then upped the ante by disrespecting the ex-rapper even further and telling him, "Take Jalens (expletive) out of your mouth for a couple minutes. Pretty sure he's already got a chick." Clearly neither side is ready to back down and Cam has already warned: "There will be no playing with my name."Johnny Manziel Threatens Podcast Host In Bizarre Feud Over Cam Newton first appeared on The Spun on Aug 2, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared.

Micah Parsons Makes Decision On Practice After Trade Request

Micah Parsons Makes Decision On Practice After Trade Request originally appeared on The Spun. Cowboys All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons is reportedly back at practice after an eventful past few days, but that doesn't mean we should expect to see No. 11 back on the field any time soon — at least not in Oxnard. After feeling like he's been jerked around by the team's front office following months of contract talks, Parsons took to social media to publicly request a trade out of Big D. "I no longer want to play for the Dallas Cowboys," he penned in a lengthy statement to X. "My trade request has been submitted to Stephen Jones personally. ... I did everything I could to show that I wanted to be a Cowboy and wear the star on my helmet. I wanted to play in front of the best fans in sports and make this Americas team once again. ... Unfortunately I no longer want to be here." Jerry Jones has since responded to Micah's comments as merely being "part of negotiations." Adding, "I don't really place that with any real seriousness. We're in good shape. This is negotiation. Don't lose any sleep over it." Parsons has been held out of practice with a "bad back" but was spotted at the team's facility this weekend per longtime Cowboys writer Clarence Hill Jr. "Micah Parsons at Cowboys practice one day after trade request," Hill reported. Jones has described his organization as being "A Soap Opera 365 Days a Year," and that couldn't be more true this offseason. Dallas has certainly made its share of headlines off the Micah situation, and that to Jerry may be more valuable than the few extra million or so he'll have to pay by dragging this out if/when Parsons signs. Head coach Brian Schottenheimer has also said he's "talked" to Parsons amid this most recent standoff and that those conversations have been "great." "I've talked to Micah," he shared. "I've talked to all of our guys. ... I'm not going to continue to talk about Micah's contract situation. A lot of great things are going on. ... I had great conversations with him."Micah Parsons Makes Decision On Practice After Trade Request first appeared on The Spun on Aug 2, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared.

Terry McLaurin Receiving Trade Interest From Notable AFC Team

Terry McLaurin Receiving Trade Interest From Notable AFC Team originally appeared on The Spun. As the Washington Commanders continue to navigate the situation surrounding Pro Bowl wideout Terry McLaurin, an AFC contender has formally inquired about the veteran receiver's services, according to reports. McLaurin officially requested a trade from the team on Thursday after the two sides failed to make any progress this offseason towards a contract extension that would him one of the highest-paid at his position in the league. McLaurin is entering the final season of a three-year deal that's set to pay him $15.5 million with just $2.8 million in guaranteed dollars. Since then, Washington's star has been "holding in" at Commanders training camp in hopes reaching a new agreement. But five-time 1,000-yard receivers don't just hit the market every day and a team in the rival conference would reportedly like to add him to their roster. Per DK Pittsburgh Sports, the Pittsburgh Steelers have reached out to Washington's franchise about a trade for the 29-year-old star. However, sources say they're not expected to land the former Ohio State product. Writes Steelers beat writer Chris Halicke: "He informed the team this week that he wants to be traded, prompting Omar Khan to reach out." "In reaching out to the Commanders, the Steelers learned that McLaurin not only wants to be paid like a true No. 1 receiver, which is expected, he wants to be a true No. 1 receiver on whatever team he plays on in 2025 and beyond. With the Steelers having DK Metcalf signed to a five-year, $150 million contract, they've committed to him as their No. 1 receiver." Pittsburgh has been hyper-aggressive this summer compared to seasons past, but in many ways it feels like they're just trying to make up for lost time. As exciting as it would be to see another wide receiver in the No. 17 a la Mike Wallace, it isn't sounding too realistic at the moment. Although this clearly won't be the only phone call the Steelers and others make regarding Scary McLaurin Receiving Trade Interest From Notable AFC Team first appeared on The Spun on Aug 2, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared.
