Niche AI services
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the biggest trend in the markets today, and with so many companies providing exposure to it in different ways, it can be challenging to parse the best AI stocks to buy. What appeals to many investors are huge growth opportunities and technology that provides a moat. That's where Palantir comes in.
Some of the large AI companies like Nvidia and Amazon are already so big that it's debatable how much bigger they can get. Stocks generally move on growth, and the larger the foundation, the harder it is to increase it in percentages. Finding a younger company with growth prospects that can still move the needle can be much more attractive to growth investors.
Palantir provides an AI platform that organizes data, connecting data from different places to simplify complex operations. Its original product was built for government clients, but it now has a product for commercial use as well, which is growing quickly.
Its government and defense contracts give it stability and create a high barrier to entry, while the commercial platform in the U.S. is growing at a faster pace -- up 71% year over year in the 2025 first quarter, outpacing total company revenue growth of 39%. As more companies see the benefits of using AI, this segment has a long growth runway.
With total company revenue of only $3.1 billion over the trailing 12 months, Palantir could continue to enjoy high and profitable sales growth for many years, with a stock gain to match. That's something for investors to get excited about.

Strongest Q2 Production Yet: Continue to Hold ExxonMobil Stock

Last Friday, Exxon Mobil Corporation XOM announced second-quarter 2025 earnings that surpassed expectations. This was fueled by the highest second-quarter production since Exxon and Mobil merged over 25 years ago, thanks to XOM's presence in high-return assets like Permian and offshore Guyana, also contributing to a strong business outlook. Before analyzing the factors driving this positive outlook, let's first review the second-quarter results. XOM's Q2 Earnings Snapshot ExxonMobil reported earnings per share of $1.64 (excluding identified items), which beat the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.49. The bottom line declined from the year-ago level of $2.14. Total quarterly revenues of $81.5 billion missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $82.8 billion. The top line declined from the year-ago figure of $93.06 billion. Chevron Corporation CVX and BP plc BP are two other prominent integrated energy companies. While CVX has already posted results, BP will report tomorrow. Two Highly Profitable Upstream Assets of ExxonMobil ExxonMobil has a strong presence in offshore Guyana resources and the Permian, the most productive basin in the United States. The integrated energy company announced that it discovered a massive amount of oil—nearly 11 billion barrels—off the coast of Guyana. To put it simply, this is the largest oil discovery anywhere in the world in the last 15 years. In the region, there are three active projects currently for XOM, combinedly producing at a rate of roughly 650,000 barrels per day. XOM expects a total of eight projects in the region to be online by 2030, which will produce a combined 1.7 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (MMBoE/D). In the Permian, the energy giant is employing advanced technology to get much more oil out of each well, thereby improving oil recovery. From the most prolific basin, XOM is expecting to produce 2.3 MMBoE/D by the end of this decade, suggesting a surge from the current 1.6 MMBoE/D. XOM Revises Pioneer Acquisition Synergy Estimates Upward With a strong focus on strengthening its presence in the Permian, ExxonMobil completed the acquisition of Pioneer Natural Resources Company on May 3, 2024. With 1.4 million net acres of the combined company in the Delaware and Midland basins, having an estimated 16 billion barrels of oil equivalent resource, ExxonMobil has greatly transformed its upstream portfolio. The Pioneer Natural acquisition's average annual synergy, which XOM earlier estimated at roughly $2 billion over 10 years, has now been revised upward to more than $3 billion annually. The integrated giant now believes the average number could be even more. How the Diversified Energy Majors CVX, BP Fared in Q2 Chevron reported adjusted second-quarter earnings per share of $1.77, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.70. The outperformance stemmed from higher-than-expected production in the company's key upstream segment. However, the bottom line came well below the year-ago adjusted profit of $2.55 due to weaker oil price realizations. CVX generated revenue of $44.8 billion. The sales figure missed the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $47.1 billion and decreased 12.4% year over year. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for BP's earnings is pegged at 68 cents per share, suggesting a year-over-year decline of 32%. Should Investors Bet on XOM Stock Right Away? Despite the positive developments, ExxonMobil has gained only a modest 3.8% year to date, possibly due to intensifying trade tensions, which have made the overall market uncertain. Notably, ExxonMobil admits it's still unsure whether projects like blue hydrogen (a cleaner fuel) and lithium (used in EV batteries) will generate enough profit to be worthwhile. While these are promising long-term opportunities, their high risk and uncertainty may weigh on the stock price. YTD Price Chart Coming to the valuation story, the stock is trading at a 7.12x trailing 12-month Enterprise Value to Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization (EV/EBITDA), which is at a premium compared with the broader industry average of 4.31x. Thus, considering the uncertainty and expensive valuations, it might not be the right time to bet on the stock. Those who have already invested may retain XOM, which carries a Zacks Rank #3 (Hold). Zacks Names #1 Semiconductor Stock This under-the-radar company specializes in semiconductor products that titans like NVIDIA don't build. It's uniquely positioned to take advantage of the next growth stage of this market. And it's just beginning to enter the spotlight, which is exactly where you want to be. With strong earnings growth and an expanding customer base, it's positioned to feed the rampant demand for Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Internet of Things. Global semiconductor manufacturing is projected to explode from $452 billion in 2021 to $971 billion by 2028. Tesla awards CEO Musk millions in shares valued at about US$29 billion

(AP Photo/Jose Luis Magana, File) Tesla is awarding CEO Elon Musk 96 million shares of restricted stock valued at approximately US$29 billion, just six months after a judge ordered the company to revoke his massive pay package. The electric vehicle maker said in a regulatory filing on Monday that Musk must first pay Tesla $23.34 per share of restricted stock that vests, which is equal to the exercise price per share of the 2018 pay package that was awarded to the company's CEO. In December Delaware Chancellor Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick reaffirmed her earlier ruling that Tesla must revoke Musk's multibillion-dollar pay package. She found that Musk engineered the landmark pay package in sham negotiations with directors who were not independent. At the time McCormick also rejected an equally unprecedented and massive fee request by plaintiff attorneys, who argued that they were entitled to legal fees in the form of Tesla stock valued at more than $5 billion. The judge said the attorneys were entitled to a fee award of $345 million. The rulings came in a lawsuit filed by a Tesla stockholder who challenged Musk's 2018 compensation package. That pay package carried a potential maximum value of about $56 billion, but that sum has fluctuated over the years based on Tesla's stock price. Musk appealed the order in March. A month later Tesla said in a regulatory filing that it was creating a special committee to look at Musk's compensation as CEO. In a letter to shareholders, Tesla's board said that Musk hasn't received 'meaningful compensation' for eight years, citing the 2012 CEO Performance Award that was last earned in 2017. The board argued that Musk deserves compensation because he's delivered 'transformative and unprecedented growth' that's 'translated into immense value generated for Tesla and all our shareholders.' Musk has been one of the richest people in the world for several years. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives feels Musk's stock award may alleviate some Tesla shareholder concerns. 'We believe this grant will now keep Musk as CEO of Tesla at least until 2030 and removes an overhang on the stock,' Ives wrote in a client note. 'Musk remains Tesla's big asset and this comp issue has been a constant concern of shareholders once the Delaware soap opera began.' Tesla shares have plunged 25% this year, largely due to blowback over Musk's affiliation with President Donald Trump. But Tesla also faces intensifying competition from both the big Detroit automakers, and from China. In its most recent quarter, Tesla reported that quarterly profits plunged from $1.39 billion to $409 million. Revenue also fell and the company fell short of even the lowered expectations on Wall Street. Under pressure from shareholders last month, Tesla scheduled an annual shareholders meeting for November to comply with Texas state law. A group of more than 20 Tesla shareholders, which have watched Tesla shares plummet, said in a letter to the company that it needed to at least provide public notice of the annual meeting. Investors have grown increasingly worried about the trajection of the company after Musk had spent so much time in Washington this year, becoming one of the most prominent officials in the Trump administration in its bid to slash the size of the U.S. government. Tesla's stock rose more than 2% in morning trading. Shares are down about 23% in the year to date. By Michelle Chapman

Trump says he will hit India with higher tariffs for buying Russian oil

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he will substantially raise tariffs on India over its purchases of Russian oil. 'India is not only buying massive amounts of Russian Oil, they are then, for much of the Oil purchased, selling it on the Open Market for big profits. They don't care how many people in Ukraine are being killed by the Russian War Machine,' Trump said in a post on Truth Social. 'Because of this, I will be substantially raising the Tariff paid by India to the USA.' He did not elaborate on what the tariff would be. Trump last week said he would impose a 25-per-cent tariff on goods imported from India and added that the world's fifth-largest economy would also face an unspecified penalty but gave no details. Over the weekend, two Indian government sources told Reuters that India will keep purchasing oil from Russia despite Trump's threats. The sources did not wish to be identified due to the sensitivity of the matter.
