Anupam Kher recalls clash with Aamir Khan when the 'Lagaan' actor complained about him to Mahesh Bhatt during 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi': 'Mere andar ka NSD ka gold medalist jag gaya'

A amir Khan and Anupam Kher had shared screen space in 'Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahi' which starred Pooja Bhatt also and was directed by Mahesh Bhatt. Kher played Pooja's father in the film. There was a disagreement between Kher and Aamir in the film because the latter didn't like the interpretation of scene. In a recent interview, while promoting his latest directorial, 'Tanvi the Great', Anupam Kher opened up on this incident. When asked if Aamir was upset with him during the shoot, Kher said during a chat with Siddharth Kannan, 'He wasn't upset with me, he disliked my interpretation of the climax scene. I play a man who tells his daughter to abandon her to-be husband and run away from the 'mandap'. In my imagination, only a man who is not in his senses would make such a suggestion, so I decided to play the scene comedically. Aamir didn't like it, apparently. So, he went and complained to Bhatt saab even though he was just an actor like me.' He added further, 'Bhatt saab told me what Aamir had said, and that's when mere andar ka National School of Drama ka gold medalist jaag gaya (my inner drama school gold medalist was unleashed). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo I asked Bhatt saab, 'You're okay with my performance?' People thought that Kher was disrespecting him but the actor-director clarified his stance. He said, 'He is too important for me to disrespect him like that.' Kher had made his acting debut with 'Saaransh' which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt.

‘Hera Pheri is a film that I will be excited about till the day I retire'

In a candid chat, director Priyadarshan talks about Hera Pheri 3, which will go on the floors in March 2026 Director Priyadarshan has a packed schedule with three Akshay Kumar starrers back to back, including Hera Pheri 3, which was caught in the midst of a controversy that's now settled down. The director is helming Bhooth Bangla co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi and Tabu, Haiwaan also featuring Saif Ali Khan and Hera Pheri 3, featuring its original cast — Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal . With Bhooth Bangla at the editing stage, Haiwaan set to kick off in August, when asked about the status of Hera Pheri 3, Priyadarshan says, 'The film is still at writing stage, but we plan to start it by March 2026.' Neeraj Vora had taken over as director for the second film installment of the cult film, and now Priyadarshan is back on the director's seat. He says, 'No matter how many films you make, people always say the original is the best. I've had a long career having directed nearly 100 films, and Hera Pheri is a film that I will be excited about till the day I retire.' Speaking about Paresh Rawal's return to the franchise, he says, 'The issue was sorted between the producers [Akshay Kumar's production house and Paresh Rawal]. It was a misunderstanding, but at the end of the day everything works out when artistes have good hearts.' Paresh Rawal Returns To Hera Pheri 3 After Legal Battle With Akshay Kumar

Aamir Khan overstepped his boundaries and complained to Mahesh Bhatt about Anupam Kher's acting: ‘Mere andar ka NSD ka gold medalist jaag gaya'

Actor Anupam Kher looked back on an altercation that he had with Aamir Khan on the set of Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, the 1993 film they worked on together, with director Mahesh Bhatt at the helm. The film also starred Pooja Bhatt, and was released when Aamir was on the cusp of superstardom. In a recent interview, Anupam suggested that Aamir stepped out of line when he complained about his performance to Bhatt, 'even though he was just an actor' on the film. Bhatt didn't keep the complaint to himself, which further fuelled tension on set. This was when Anupam unleashed his inner drama school gold medalist, and rejected Aamir's suggestion. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, he said, 'He wasn't upset with me, he disliked my interpretation of the climax scene. I play a man who tells his daughter to abandon her to-be husband and run away from the 'mandap'. In my imagination, only a man who is not in his senses would make such a suggestion, so I decided to play the scene comedically. Aamir didn't like it, apparently. So, he went and complained to Bhatt saab even though he was just an actor like me.' I asked Bhatt saab, 'You're okay with my performance?' He said he is, so I told him, 'Then let's continue as we were'.' In the same interview, he also spoke about an incident at a press conference, where he was heard telling Bhatt to leave. Anupam explained that there can never be any differences between them, because he considers Bhatt to be a father figure. He said that Bhatt was hungry, and that he was merely telling him to go get lunch. 'He is too important for me to disrespect him like that,' he said. In an earlier interview with Times Now, Anupam had spoken about the altercation, adding that Aamir was upset with him for the entire duration of the shoot. 'I was fully ready to portray it, but Aamir complained to Mahesh Bhatt saab about my interpretation. He found it wrong and different. Bhatt saab added fuel to the matter and told me about Aamir's comment. I used an English phrase for Aamir Khan to shut him down,' he said, adding, 'Aamir was upset with me throughout the film. He was at that stage of becoming Aamir Khan, which he wanted to become. All my love for him.'
