Police release photos of suspects who allegedly attacked transgender woman
Police released photos of the three suspects and said that an initial attack and sexual assault allegedly took place on April 8, while the most recent attacks that police believe to be "perpetrated by the same individuals" allegedly took place at around 11:38 p.m. local time on Saturday.
No arrests had been made in this case as of Monday afternoon, an LAPD spokesperson told ABC News.
"[The suspects] returned to the victim's location and physically assaulted her, inflicting serious injuries. The suspects fled the scene before officers arrived," the LAPD said in a statement released on Sunday.
Police said the victim is a 61-year-old transgender woman but did not disclose her identity. However, the victim of the alleged attacks -- Sabrina de la Peña -- came forward in an April 28 interview with ABC Station in Los Angeles, KABC.
De la Peña, a small business owner in the Westlake neighborhood, recounted the alleged April 8 attack. She told KABC she believed that being transgender made her a target.
She said that the first suspect came into her store and attempted to flirt with her but became angry when she turned him away.
"He pushed me down... on the floor and we start fighting on the floor," she said.
According to an April 28 police statement, "the suspect sexually assaulted the victim and discovered she was a transgender woman. The suspect pulled away and threatened to kill the victim."
"Subsequently, the same suspect returned to the location multiple times with additional suspects and committed hate crimes against the victim," police said.
According to police, during one incident the suspect allegedly struck the victim with a skateboard, and on another occasion, he pepper-sprayed her. During a third incident, the suspect allegedly "threw an unknown liquid at the victim while another suspect attempted to stun her with a Taser," police said.
De la Peña said that after the initial incident on April 8, the suspect allegedly returned the next day with another man and beat her with a skateboard.
"He take me to the alley, out my door...and he beating me," she told KABC. "I think he hate transgender women because he tell me many times... 'I'm gonna kill you.'"
Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the three alleged suspects and urging people to review the photos and share any tips with LAPD Rampart Division Detectives at (213) 484-3495.

Tesla camera captures video of suspects stealing safe from Woodland Hills home
Cameras on a Tesla captured the moments that two suspects allegedly took off with a safe they stole from a home in Woodland Hills on Sunday. Los Angeles police say that the burglary was reported just after 7 p.m. in the 4800 block of Canoga Avenue. "He literally took off full speed, skidding with the tire track," said the neighbor. No injuries were reported in the incident and no arrested have been announced by police.

Possible shooting at Encino home sparks outrage amongst neighbors in midst of crime wave
Just two weeks after "American Idol" producer Robin Kaye and her husband were shot and killed in their Encino home, another possible shooting next door has outraged neighbors who are struggling to feel safe in the midst of a concerning wave of crime affecting their neighborhood. Hundreds of people flooded the White Oak Avenue home for a party that had to be broken up by police late Saturday night, shown in cell phone video captured by neighbors. They say that the house has been a constant issue, and despite complaints, nothing has yet been done. "This party house would've been shut down in Beverly Hills, would've been shut down in Burbank, but in LA you can break the law and there's no consequences," said Rob Glushon, the president of the Encino Property Owners Association. "We're very supportive of LAPD, but honestly they need to be tougher. This is an example of when something gets out of control because the law doesn't get enforced when the problem starts." It's just the latest issue in a growing trend that has seen the neighborhood plagued by break-ins, burglaries, robberies and murder. A community meeting days after the deadly double-shooting brought hundreds of concerned neighbors in front of law enforcement and city leaders who said changes were being made. Hours later, two homes were targeted in attempted burglaries, including one at a home belonging to former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Teddi Mellencamp. Neighbors say that that the party house is emblematic of Encino's problems in dealing with lawlessness. "That just kind of talks to the issue that we have in this whole community, where there's so many awful things going on, the burglaries and party houses and even murders," said Roy Nwaisser, president of the Encino Neighborhood Council. "It really does break my heart." LAPD station evacuates after military ordnance is dropped off
A couple brought a military explosive device into a Los Angeles Police Department station Saturday afternoon in an attempt to dispose of it, spurring officials to temporarily evacuate the Pacoima station and nearby homes. The incident comes less than two weeks after an explosion killed three Los Angeles County sheriff's detectives — the deadliest incident for the Sheriff's Department in more than 150 years. Three agency veterans died in the incident: Dets. Joshua Kelley-Eklund, Victor Lemus and William Osborn. According to the LAPD, two people came into the Pacoima station at 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon and said they were cleaning out the home of a family member who recently died when they found what they believed were explosives. The department's bomb squad used a robot to take images of the plastic box the couple had brought, which had 'several military ordnances inside.' After deeming them safe to transfer, the bomb squad moved them to a storage facility for the U.S. military to collect. In the latest twist in the case in which the sheriff's detectives were killed, one of the grenades found before the explosion is missing, authorities said Friday.
