College Student Allegedly Created Undressed Images Of Classmates With AI, Then Sold Them
'There was one from when I was 15. I'm almost 20 years old now,' one victim told Chicago station WGN-TV.
The victim's adolescent photo was one of many images that 19-year-old Michael Erickson allegedly used to produce realistic-looking images with the help of AI, according to the outlet. Police say most of the victims had been Erickson's classmates and were between 13 and 17 years old at the time the photos were taken.
Erickson was charged this week with 21 felony counts related to child sex abuse material, including 'production of child pornography, disseminating child pornography and possession of child pornography,'according to a press release shared with HuffPost.
A lawyer listed in Erickson's records did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Erickson's arrest stemmed from a tip Batavia police received in April from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to a charging document obtained by HuffPost. A month later, DeKalb County Sheriff's Office deputies searched Erickson's dorm room at Northern Illinois University to find 20,000 images of suspected child sexual abuse material.
A spokesperson for Northern Illinois University told ABC affiliate WLS-TV that 'the student no longer lives in campus housing.'
Deputies noted that several photos of one victim on Erickson's devices had been uploaded to Telegram, a messaging platform, according to the document. Users in the Telegram chat paid Erickson to have that victim's clothing removed in the images.
In total, Erickson 'disseminated more than 35 deep fake images' of that victim to others online, including on Snapchat, police said. That victim told police she was 17 years old at the time her photo was taken, and that she had graduated from high school with Erickson.
Deputies went on to list several more victims who attended high school with Erickson, the youngest being 13 at the time her photo was taken. Erickson allegedly disseminated thousands of images of child sex abuse material —including both photos and videos — since at least the end of February to March.
According to a Snapchat conversation from March 3 cited in the document, Erickson told a prospective buyer that he charged 'cheap' prices, which he listed as '10$ for 10 pics 5$ for 5 and 20$ for 20.' When asked by another user why he made so many images, Erickson responded, 'to sell them to boys.'
Erickson was granted pretrial release Tuesday and ordered not to have any contact with minors or access to the internet, WGN-TV reports. He is due in court on July 17.

'Once you set this up, it's only ever visible to you and the friends you've chosen to share your location with on Snap Map.' Indeed, Snap says that it's developed Home Alerts with privacy in mind, with alerts only able to be sent to friends that you already share your location with. Your arrival notification will be sent out one time, then it'll be deactivated automatically, so you won't have to worry about sending out alerts to all of your Snap friends every single time you arrive home safely. It'll only happen when you've manually chosen to activate the notification. It's another security measure which could help to provide peace of mind to your Snap friends, while also giving you some additional assurance that people know where you're at, in case something happens. And while friends can already track you on the Snap Map, having a message that reassures them of your safe arrival could be another simple benefit, for friends and likely parents as well.

Rapper GloRilla wants to know why she ended up being arrested after someone attempted to break into her Georgia home this past weekend. The Grammy nominee, whose full name is Gloria Hallelujah Woods, voluntarily turned herself in to Forsyth County Jail on Tuesday to face felony drug charges after authorities investigating a break-in at her residence allegedly discovered marijuana and another substance inside. Following Thursday's reports of her voluntary surrender, Woods addressed the circumstances that led to the charges in a post on X. 'CRAZY[!!] My house got home invaded Saturday while I was in Indianapolis performing for the WNBA All-Star game & instead of focusing on finding the suspects, they focus on some cannabis,' she wrote. 'Long story short my house gets home invaded and Im the only one that gets arrested. So that's tea,' she continued, adding a shrugging emoji at the end. According to a statement from the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office detailed by People magazine on Thursday, authorities were called to Woods' home for 'burglary in progress' in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 20. The police's account confirmed that the rapper was not present at the time of the incident, during which three suspects allegedly entered her home and 'were in the process of stealing items when an armed occupant fired at the intruders.' Authorities report that none of the home's occupants were injured and that the suspects fled the scene without appearing to have been struck by gunfire. Police said after being unable to locate the suspects that they proceeded to initiate 'a thorough investigation' of the crime scene. 'While on scene, deputies detected a strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics. As a result, the Lanier Regional Drug Task Force was contacted and responded to the residence,' the statement said. A search warrant was then obtained, allegedly leading authorities to 'a significant amount of marijuana'″ in the closet of the home's master bedroom. Based on the discovery, Woods was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of [a Schedule 1] controlled substance. She was released on $22,260 bond following her voluntary surrender. While authorities told People that the burglary investigation is still 'active and ongoing,' Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman said that his department must still 'uphold and enforce the law' in regards to 'all aspects' of the case. Rapper GloRilla arrested on drug charges after burglary at Georgia home
Rapper GloRilla has been arrested in Georgia after cops found a 'significant amount' of drugs while investigating a burglary at her metro Atlanta home. Authorities were called to the rapper's house at around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday to investigate a break-in, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office confirmed to local ABC affiliate WSB-TV. The 'Let Her Cook' artist, who's legal name is Gloria Woods, was away in Indianapolis for the WNBA All-Star Game at the time of the incident, but a family member inside her home fired a gun at the burglars, causing them to run away, according to police. During the investigation, cops smelled a 'strong odor consistent with illegal narcotics' in a closet inside the home's primary bedroom. A drug task force was called in, after which 'a significant amount of marijuana was discovered in plain view,' according to the sheriff's office. After voluntarily turning herself in to the Forsyth County Jail on Tuesday, the 25-year-old rapper was charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance. She was released the same day on $22,260 bond. Attorneys for GloRilla have slammed local law enforcement following the incident, calling their client 'a victim, not a suspect.' 'The arrest of Gloria Woods is a disturbing window into how warped law enforcement priorities have become,' her lawyers said in a statement to TMZ. 'Instead of investigating the violent home invasion and theft at Ms. Woods' home, they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana. Law enforcement then sought arrest warrants for her even though she hadn't been at her home for some time.' As noted by her lawyers, no arrest warrants have been issued for the burglars, who made off with some 'high-value jewelry.' 'This is our tax dollars at work, absolutely unbelievable,' her attorneys said. Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman called the rapper 'a victim of a serious crime' and said his office is committed bringing the thieves to justice, but noted they must still 'continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.'
