Love Island fans plead 'hurry up' as they all issue same complaint during ITV final

Daily Mirror15 hours ago
Love Island's grand final got underway on Monday night but viewers were quick to all issue the same complaint about one thing as they waited to discover who would be crowned this year's winners
Love Island fans all issued the same complaint as the live final got underway on Monday night. The ITV2 dating show wrapped up its twelfth series as couples Angel Swift and Ty Isherwood, Harry Cooksley and Shakira Khan, Yasmin Pettett and Jamie Rhodes, and Toni Laites and Cach Mercher all hoped to win the public vote and walk off with the £50,00 prize.
But just minutes into the episode airing, fans were quick to slam the programme as 'boring' and flooded social media with their reactions. It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025.
One wrote: "I forgot how f****** BORING the #LoveIsland finale always is," and the opinion was echoed across the site. Another viewer said: "Are they not doing the declaration of love crap this year?
"If not thank god that is boring because half the things they say to each other is not genuine because most of them break up within a few months," and a third fumed: "Thank god they stopped doing those dramatically long final dates and near-wedding speeches . So boring"
Others just appeared keen to know who will walk off with the £50,000 cash prize, as one said: "The final is always so boring, just give us a 10 minute episode telling us who won we haven't got the patience anymore," and a fourth said: "May be a unpopular opinion but the final is the worst episode of the series, so dragged out and boring."
A fifth viewer lamented: "i really wish i cared more about Angel and Ty but i just don't hurry up and rank them 4th so i can see which REAL couple wins"
The reality show is now in its milestone 10th year and this series, it has been dubbed 'TV gold' by fans who hailed it 'iconic' with its summer of jaw-dropping twists and turns. And on the day of the final, it was announced that spin-off All Stars will return next years as well. Single Islanders from across the 10 years of the show will return to the famous Villa in South Africa, but this time they'll be in the villa for six weeks instead of five.
"We are very excited about series 3 and you can expect the twists and turns to continue in All Stars, after an incredible smash hit summer series.' The second series of Love Island: All Stars aired earlier this year, and was won by Gabby Allen and Case O'Gorman. The series also saw the reunion of Ronnie Vint and Harriet Blackmore - but it didn't come without complaints.
In February, the show lodged over 2,000 complaints to Ofcom in its final week, as fans fumed at various stars for their "bullying behaviour". On February 12, there were 1,347 complaints, followed by 820 on February 11, 63 on February 13 and 57 on February 16.
The February 12 episode saw Ekin-Su and Elma clash over the latter's comment about Ekin-Su and Curtis having the weakest connection. Things only got worse between the group when Ekin-Su had kissed Sammy during the heart rate challenge. During the argument, an angry Elma swore at Ekin-Su and Curtis and told them to "shut their mouths".
Tonight, viewers will see either Toni and Cach, Yasmin and Jamie, Shakira and Harry or Ty and Angel take home the crown as the 12th series concludes. This series however, has also been hounded with complaints. Last week, it was revealed that fans had complained to Ofcom over scenes where they claimed Islanders were bullying Shakira.
A total of 9,339 complaints were made to Ofcom in this vein, whilst a further 298 were made about the way Blu spoke to Toni. But for those feeling a little inspired by this year's Islanders and think they have what it takes to head to the iconic villa, dreams can come true as anyone can apply for the show.
ITV have a section dedicated to Love Island on its website where hopefuls can submit their application forms. It reads: "ITV2 & ITVX are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who are looking for love in the sun!
"The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another, but to remain in paradise, they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders, who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island. If you think you've got what it takes, then we want to hear from you!"
Those wanting to apply must be aware of the all-important eligibility requirements. All applicants must be at least 18-years-old at the date of applying and they must not be currently employed by ITV, Motion or Cast It Reach.
They also must not have a live-in partner or relative who works on Love Island. Applicants need to have or be prepared to get a passport and they must be available to participate in Love Island for a minimum of ten consecutive weeks.
Bosses are able to keep the names and contact details for applicants so they can reach out with opportunities for three years or suggest other ITV shows. As well as meeting all the eligibility criteria, those wanting to appear on Love Island will need to complete the application questions "honestly and truthfully".

The loved-up pair beat Shakira Khan, 22, and Harry Cooksley, 30, to the top spot, while Yasmin Pettet, 24, and Jamie Rhodes, 26, placed third, and Ty Isherwood, 23, and Angel Swift, 26, came fourth. A number of hilarious, dicey and awkward moments took place on the show, particularly during Maya's grillings of the stars. She was praised for her professionalism in the face of scandals. Delighting in praise from followers, Maya responded with a heart Emoji when a follower wrote: 'A real professional presenter grew up with you Maya we know you're a real one who had to grind her way to the top... In her candid style, Maya pointed out: 'You did say that you learnt a lot being in here...' to which Toni said: 'That's for damn sure'. An intrigued Maya continued: 'What has been the biggest lesson for you do you reckon?' Toni replied: 'Don't put up with sh**ty men.' Strictly star finds love with boxer after being linked to dance pro

A STRICTLY Come Dancing star has found love with a boxer after being linked with a BBC show pro. The Paralympian, 32, has showcased her new romance in a cute video posted to her Instagram grid. 6 6 6 It showed her stripped to a blue bikini holding her man's hand as they strolled into the crystal-clear sea in Sardinia. Back in 2019, Lauren Steadman, 32, was linked to her Strictly partner AJ Pritchard after their "romantic" routines on-stage. Yet now Lauren, who reached the semi-final of the 2018 series with AJ, has found love with a boxer known as Bradley. He appears to keep a low profile not being tagged on her account, yet he appears in both their sweet holiday clip and a post showing them boxing together. Lauren wrote in her holiday caption: "Pausing to make time. "It actually looks like Bradley is just entertaining my morning waffle. "Between my training and his boxing coaching time has been limited but 20mins every morning at the beach has been well worth it." Her followers were quick to react to the post, which showed the pair loved up and holding hands. One wrote: " Awwwwwww my sweeetiee piessss." Lauren Steadman and DJ Locksmith are crowned as co-winner of Channel 4's Celebrity SAS- Who Dares Wins A second put: "This makes me happy. Just saying." A third then gushed: "Great news!!!!!" MOVING ON Since Strictly, Lauren went on to be crowned a co-winner of gritty reality series Celeb SAS. Yet prior to this, she and AJ had been wowing audiences around the country for the last few weeks with their routines as part of the Strictly live tour. After Lauren and AJ performed their touching Viennese Waltz to You Are The Reason by Calum Scott, judge at the time Darcey Bussell praised Lauren on how much her dancing had improved. She then added they had brought "plenty of romance" to their performance, which appeared to make the pair blush and squirm a little. Host Ore Oduba then added fuel to the fire, saying Darcey was "reading between the dance lines", causing the audience to 'ooh', 'ahh' and whistle their approval. It wasn't the first time AJ and Lauren had been romantically linked, as during their series, AJ hinted there could be more than friendship between them. He told The Mirror at the time: "I am very protective of her because we have worked so closely together. 'There are different things that she will talk about in training that she would never talk about on camera." Yet the world champion Paralympic athlete had her eyes on the prize as she celebrated "normalising disabilities" on the prime time BBC show. She and dance partner AJ often had to find new ways to do routines because Lauren was born missing her lower right arm. Alongside this, Lauren had to compete against celebrities like Ashley Roberts and Faye Tozer who were already professionally-trained dancers. 6 6 6

Repair Shop Jay Blades turns to TikTok to earn money from fans and host late night live sessions despite being charged with two counts of rape as he awaits trial on separate charge of controlling and coercive behaviour

BBC star Jay Blades, who has been charged with two counts of rape, hosts bizarre late night TikTok lives, declares himself a 'born again' Christian and is raking in cash from fans. Despite serious allegations against the TV presenter, who was charged with two counts of rape on Monday, the Repair Shop star seems unfazed as he turns to social media to earn money and help improve his public image. The Mail can reveal that Blades, 54, who is currently on a break from television following the disturbing allegations, has taken to hosting late-night livestreams from his bedroom – dancing to gospel and soul music, preaching about his newfound faith, and interacting with a growing online fanbase. During these TikTok sessions – some running well into the early hours – Blades is seen smiling, singing, and declaring himself a 'born again Christian', praising the 'greatness of God' to hundreds of viewers at a time. Fans, many of whom appear unaware of the serious charges he's facing, have been sending him virtual gifts during the livestreams – which convert into real money. The embattled TV star is reportedly earning income from the platform as he continues to build an enthusiastic following online. Blades currently has 15,000 followers on TikTok and posts regularly about his 'weekend sessions'. He has also gained 584 followers on Twitch, where he broadcasts his session. He is also 'earning' 389 bits - which on Twitch are a virtual good that viewers can purchase and use to 'Cheer' in a streamer's chat. Streamers earn revenue based on the number of Bits used in their chat. Jay's goal on his profile says his 'goal' is to earn 1,000 bits. The most recent video advertising his next 'service' reads: 'Sunday is for soul care. 'For grace, elegance, and moments that feel like velvet. Today, I invite you into a space of refined peace and timeless beauty. Music that calms the chaos, elevates the spirit, and reminds you of who you are beneath the rush. 'This is Sophisticated Sunday—where every song is chosen with intention, every sound is smooth as silk, and your presence is all that's needed. 'Unwind. Reflect. Feel deeply. Let the music move you.' According to his profile, his next online session will be taking place this weekend, late into the evening on Friday. Police said in a statement on Monday night that the 55-year-old father-of-three would appear at magistrates' court next Wednesday. A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: 'Jason Blades, 55, of Claverley in Shropshire, has been charged with two counts of rape. 'He is due to appear at Telford magistrates' court on 13 August 2025.' Blades is currently awaiting trial on a separate charge of coercive control of his estranged wife Lisa-Marie Zbozen. He denied the allegation when he appeared at Worcester Crown Court last October. The star was charged last September with a single count of 'controlling and coercive behaviour' between January 1 2023 and September 12 2024. The single charge relates to his fitness instructor wife Ms Zbozen, who announced on Instagram on May 2 last year that she had walked out of the marriage. The BBC show, which started on daytime TV in 2017 before moving to a primetime slot, saw Blades become one of the best-known faces on British TV. He was honoured with an MBE in 2021. He has been at the helm of the show for seven years, but was dropped from last year's live tour. Roman Kemp In 2022, a special one-off episode to mark the BBC's centenary saw Blades and the repair team visit the King, when he was still the Prince of Wales, at Dumfries House in Scotland. Blades was made an MBE by Charles in May 2022 for services to craft and in recognition of his work promoting heritage craft and restoration in the UK.
