"Huge Blessing": Farooq Abdullah Takes A Ride In Vande Bharat From Srinagar
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah took a ride on the Vande Bharat train from Nowgam Railway Station in Srinagar to Katra.
Nowgam Railway Station is a crucial part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Railway Link (USBRL) project, connecting Kashmir to Jammu area and the rest of India.
Speaking to reporters, Farooq Abdullah expressed his happiness and termed this train as "a huge blessing" for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He added that the train will benefit the people of J-K and tourists a lot.
The National Conference chief said, "I am very happy that I am travelling on this train to Katra. This is a huge blessing for us and is going to benefit tourists a lot. It is difficult to travel by road, and prices for air travel are extremely high. This train is going to benefit us a lot."
The two Vande Bharat Express trains from Katra Railway Station, directly connecting the Jammu division with Kashmir, were flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 6.
The new Vande Bharat Express train will take just about three hours to travel between Katra and Srinagar, reducing the existing travel time by two to three hours.
These trains have been specially designed to operate in the cold climatic conditions of the Kashmir Valley.
The train will run through the Anji Khad Bridge, which is India's first cable-stayed railway bridge, and the Chenab Bridge, which is the highest railway arch bridge in the world.
Prime Minister also inaugurated the world's highest railway arch bridge - 'Chenab Railway Bridge' and India's first cable-stayed 'Anji Bridge' in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. This marks a major milestone in Jammu and Kashmir's railway connectivity.
The architectural marvel Chenab Rail Bridge, situated 359 metres above the river, is the world's highest railway arch bridge. It is a 1,315-metre-long steel arch bridge engineered to withstand seismic and wind conditions. A key impact of the bridge will be in enhancing connectivity between Jammu and Srinagar.
All these projects are part of the ambitious Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project.
The USBRL project is 272 kilometres long, constructed worth around Rs 43,780 crore, includes 36 tunnels (spanning 119 km) and 943 bridges. The project establishes all-weather, seamless rail connectivity between the Kashmir Valley and the rest of the country, aiming to transform regional mobility and drive socio-economic integration.

Marking a significant milestone in the city's advent as a premier destination for cruise tourism, Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA), in collaboration with the district administration, organised a grand flag-off ceremony for the vessel's onward voyage. Reiterating the Prime Minister's vision of promoting cruise tourism at all major ports, chairperson of VPA M Angamuthu shared the Chief Minister's idea of developing maritime hubs for every 50-km stretch, such as ship building, Maritime Skill Development and coastal or cruise tourism. He announced that the VPA would sponsor 5,000 students annually in cruise-led skill development programmes, thereby generating employment and contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of coastal regions. The chairperson shared plans to organise an Andhra-specific cruise dialogue to further accelerate cruise tourism development in coordination with MoPSW, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Government of Andhra Pradesh. As part of the celebrations, boarding passes were symbolically handed over to the families for their journey aboard the MV Empress in the presence of Collector MN Harendhira Prasad, Visakhapatnam MP M Sribharath, MLA Ch Vamsi Krishna Srinivas and others were present.

Bangalore Development Authority proposes new flyover at Hebbal Junction from Nagawara side
Bengaluru: The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), which took nearly a decade to build an additional ramp at Hebbal Flyover junction, has proposed construction of a new flyover. The new flyover from the Nagawara side will be linked to the national highway, connecting Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). BDA sources said the board of the authority approved the preparation of a detailed project report. BDA is also considering repurposing some of the 11 massive pillars erected in 2019 for an earlier ramp project, which had stopped midway, following objections from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). BMRCL objected to the alignment of the ramp as it would have interfered with future lines of Metro. The authority now plans to assess the feasibility of integrating the unused pillars into the upcoming flyover. The BDA spent Rs 25 crore to erect giant pillars inside the tree park at the junction. For years, the delay in constructing an additional ramp at the junction resulted in a harrowing experience for those heading towards Mehkri Circle and BEL Circle. To avoid the junction, many motorists from Nagawara side are using the inner road to reach Kempapura and then take the service road (from Esteem Mall side) to access Hebbal flyover and reach Mehkri Circle. This has resulted in heavy congestion at the junction. A BDA source stated, "Construction of the flyover and linking it with NH will provide seamless access for air passengers. The length of the flyover is unlikely to be more than a kilometre. Currently, NHAI is widening the road near the defence area (located close to Hebbal Lake); there is ample space to build the down ramp of the proposed flyover."
