Sheryl Lee Ralph wedding No. 2, 'Abbott' star renews vows in opulent ceremony

Sheryl Lee Ralph is reupping her wedding vows 20 years after tying the knot. The "Abbott Elementary" star, known for playing the firm-but-loving kindergarten teacher Barbara Howard on the ABC sitcom, recently hosted her own a vow renewal ceremony to mark two decades of marriage with her husband, Pennsylvania state Senator Vincent Hughes. The event, originally intended to be an intimate gathering, wound up welcoming some 250 guests at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where Ralph walked up the storied steps in a shawl with an 80-foot train, according to Vogue. "How could I walk up all of those steps without leaving a trail of something for everybody to look at," Ralph, 68, told the outlet. She climbed the steps – famous for their appearance in a workout montage from "Rocky" – and met Hughes halfway up, before ascending together to the top, where the ceremony kicked off. Ralph, a Broadway icon whose second act with "Abbott" has made her an even bigger star, made headlines earlier this year when she revealed that she and Hughes don't live together. Her work in entertainment keeps her in Los Angeles, she said at the time, and his as a state legislator keeps him in Philadelphia – so they make it work long distance. "I wasn't at a place where I was willing to give up my career, but I also didn't want to give up having a stable relationship with the kind of man that I knew would be there for me," the actress told Vogue. Bette Midler and Sheryl Lee Ralph dish on aging, their R-rated movie 'Fabulous Four' The pair married in 2005. To mark their anniversary, Ralph wanted to lean into her stage roots. "I come from the stage, and I love the drama of what you bring on the stage," she said of her fashion choices. Ralph wore a custom gown and Dior pumps. The shawl, in place of a veil, was carried by 22 ballerinas from the city's Philadanco company. Gwyneth Paltrow, 'apartners' and why some people live separately from their spouses A vow renewal represents a celebration not of new love, but of an old love evolved, Ralph told Vogue. "In marriage, we have so many things that happen in life," she said. "People live. People die. Relationships change. You change. Your partner changes. Your family, your immediate family, your extended family – there are changes in life." "Then there's just the everyday of it. How are you able to get back up again and continue being together? I love that sentiment," she added, referencing the fighting spirit behind the movie that made Philly's signature steps famous. KATSEYE's lesbian Lollapalooza moment — every lesbian and sapphic needs to see this today

KATSEYE made their Lollapalooza debut over the weekend — and got a little salaciously sapphic on stage in the process. The "global girl group," which has taken a lot of inspiration from the world of K-pop, performed at the Chicago music festival as part of Sunday's afternoon showcase. Fans both present and paying attention from the far corners of the internet were going wild over the set, with one moment in particular drawing attention. Group members Lara and Manon got a little bit frisky in their dance moves, doing some grinding and even some writhing while the rest of the group just kept on doing their thing. Can't stop thinking about @KATSEYE #katseye #lollapalooza 🎥: @Respective Collective "the way Manon grabbed Lara like cmon boutta make history," one TikTok commenter wrote. "The fic writers are about to actually go crazy," joked another. Lara has previously come out as queer, as has fellow KATSEYE member, Megan. Some fans used this as yet another opportunity to speculate about Manon's sexuality, but mostly, they just seemed to enjoy the show. "you're laughing. katseye is lezzing out on lolla stage and you're laughing." "thank you katseye, thank you twice, thank you lollapalooza." Lollapalooza marked almost one year since the very first time KATSEYE performed publicly together at KCON in Los Angeles. Reports suggest this weekend's performance pulled a whopping 85,000 attendees. A Quarter of a Million People Have Experienced ‘Baldur's Gate 3' by Giving Withers Big Naturals

The brilliance of Baldur's Gate 3 is that it takes a seemingly linear story and makes it damn near infinite. On the surface, it's a game about a player recruiting friends to try and get a parasite out of their brain. But each and every decision the player makes beyond that sends massive ripples across the game. Every choice branches off on a new path, then a new path, and by the end, you realize you can play through the game over and over and never experience the exact same things twice. Larian Studios officially released Baldur's Gate 3 two years ago today, August 4, and to celebrate its birthday, the company just released a mountain of incredibly specific, nerdy, and weird stats. (Much as it did last year.) One, for example, is that once players were allowed to modify the game in their own ways, over 250,000 people downloaded a mod that allowed one of the key figures in your party, Withers, to have large, natural breasts. Why? Who cares! It just made the game more fun for people when they talked to Withers to see that Withers had a massive rack. You can see all the birthday stats on this blog page, but here are a few others. There are many, many more stats too if you head over to this post. Writing about it makes me want to dive back into my own game, where I have about 50 save points that can take me into new directions with my player, a short, stocky, grey-haired rogue. Then you remember that's just a molecule in the mountain of the game, considering all the different characters you can create. What are your best Baldur's Gate 3 memories? Are you one of the lucky 250,000? Let us know below. Want more io9 news?
