Does this viral $30 veggie chopper actually save you time in the kitchen? I put it to the test
I was searching for an all-in-one kitchen gadget to cut down time spent prepping ingredients, and I came across the Fullstar Vegetable Chopper on Amazon Canada. It has rave reviews and is a favourite among Canadian foodies, but I'm always curious if online claims stack up to real-life performance. So, I decided to buy it and put it to the test. Read on for my honest review and to find out if it's worth the money.
Designed to help with quick meal prep, the Fullstar Vegetable Chopper from Amazon is an all-in-one kitchen tool that allows you to slice, dice, grate or spiralize by switching out blades.
The Fullstar Vegetable Chopper is a durable, all-in-one meal prep tool with sharp stainless steel blades and BPA-free materials. It's ideal for quick, efficient cooking.
Crafted with durable, BPA-free materials, it's also dishwasher safe and includes a cleaning brush. With a 1.2-litre container, finger guard and a 100 per cent satisfaction guarantee, it's touted as a versatile essential for cooks of all skill levels.
As someone who isn't a fan of cooking — or the prep work involved— I was excited to use this tool. It arrived with everything outlined and was easy to clean and assemble.
In order to put this product to the test, I tried three blades while prepping dinner.
First, I used the smaller dicer blades to dice a red onion. This was relatively easy — I simply placed a quarter of a red onion on the blades and pressed down on the black top. The onion was immediately diced into the container below, and it required minimal effort and made no mess.

After that, I swapped out the blade. While attaching the first one was pretty straightforward, switching between blades made for different types of produce proved to be a bit trickier. The blades are incredibly sharp, so you have to be extra cautious during the removal process. Although the chopper is made to hold the blade firmly in place, I found the mechanism to be slightly stiff, which made it more difficult than expected to switch the blades between uses.
Next up, I used the mandolin blade to slice a cucumber.
Again, this was super simple! I especially liked how the product came with a finger guard to make slicing safer.
After transferring the cucumbers to another bowl, I used the mandolin to slice some carrots before switching out the blades again — this time to try dicing carrots using the larger dicer.

This is how the carrots looked, both sliced and diced, after using two different blade options.
The gadget also comes with a food scraper that was really helpful to remove pieces that stuck in the blades.
Overall, prep work for dinner took less than 5 minutes and required minimal effort.
It's durable: Made with extra-hard ABS plastic, it's designed not to crack or break.
It's dishwasher-safe: The vegetable slicer, dicer, chopper and spiralizer are all dishwasher-safe.
It's easy to use: It can cut fruits and veggies in seconds.
It's mess-free: The integrated container catches all chopped or cut ingredients.
It's convenient: The all-in-one design eliminates the need for multiple kitchen tools.
It's affordable: This is a budget-friendly alternative to other high-end food processors.
It has size limitations: Larger fruits or vegetables may need to be pre-cut to properly fit into the chopper.
There is manual effort required: You may need to apply more pressure to chop larger or harder fruits and vegetables.
The blades are sharp: The product's sharp blades can pose a safety hazard if not used carefully.
It can be difficult to switch between blade uses: Switching between blades may require some extra effort. They're easy to pop in, but take a bit of extra effort to switch.
The veggie chopper has tens of thousands of reviews.

🔪 "Totally worth it!"
The Fullstar Vegetable Chopper has more than 35,000 reviews and a 4.4-star rating from shoppers raving about the convenient gadget.
"Love this thing!" said one shopper. "Works perfectly!"
Another praised how the product is "easy to use and effectively cuts." They also noted how simple it was to clean.
However, several shoppers did note the blade can be quite sharp, so they recommended being extra careful when using it. Some also noted that it's "best to make sure the fruits or veggies are not too big," so they recommended pre-cutting larger items.
Shoppers say this multi-use gadget "works perfectly!"
After putting the Fullstar Vegetable Chopper to the test, I definitely agree with other Amazon shoppers that this is a great kitchen essential. I especially appreciate its all-in-one functionality that simplifies meal prep. It's also super versatile, easy to use and just as easy to clean, making it a practical tool for everyday cooking.
However, I found the blades to be very sharp (and a bit tricky to switch out at times), so just be sure to handle with caution when using.
Overall, I can definitely see myself reaching for this again and again to speed up my meal prep and cut down on the mess. It's a small-but-mighty time-saver that ultimately makes a big difference in the kitchen.

North Shore man named commander of Canada's Pacific fleet
A man with North Shore roots is taking command of the Royal Canadian Navy's Pacific Fleet. Capt. Samuel Patchell signed on to the role in a change of command ceremony aboard HMCS Vancouver at the Burrard Dry Dock on Wednesday, taking over for Rear-Admiral David Mazur. Patchel said he looks forward to the challenges that lie ahead. 'I'm really humbled … it's a little emotional,' he said. 'I have an awesome responsibility to lead our Canadian sailors. It's absolutely incredible, the people, the best of Canadians serve in our navy. They need strong leadership and guidance. I'll do my best to support them, because the real hard stuff we're going to ask them to do needs strong leadership.' The long-serving navy personnel was born in North Vancouver and grew up in West Vancouver and even remembers delivering the North Shore News in 1989. 'I never would have imagined delivering the North Shore News and the guy here,' said Patchell, who now lives in Victoria. Patchell said he was inspired to enlist by his grandfather, a Second World War veteran who used to take him aboard visiting ships and tell him stories about his time in the navy. The new commander first joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 2001. Patchell served as a navigating officer in 2006 and, two years later, specialized as a deck officer where he was deployed on Operation Hestia, Canada's humanitarian response to the 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Patchell has also served as the executive assistant to the deputy commander of United Nations Command in Pyeongtaek, South Korea in 2018. Shortly after returning to Canada, he deployed on a Canadian navy ship to the South China Sea, part of the country's Indo-Pacific Strategy. Patchell's promotion was not the only reason for celebration Wednesday. HMCS Vancouver was being honoured its own ceremony marking its service in Operation Mobile. The mission was the Canadian Armed Forces' contribution to the global response of the uprising against the 42-year rule of dictator Mummar Qadhafi in Libya. Battle honour awards are given to publicly recognize a ship's role in significant battles, campaigns and operations throughout history. Through the ship's deployment, HMCS Vancouver engaged in surveillance, maritime interdiction and embargo enforcement. Patchell joined the ship as the operations officer and was deployed on the mission. Commodore Bradley Alan Peats, former commanding officer of HMCS Vancouver, shared a snippet of what it was like being on the ship during that time. 'Night after night, the city was alight with explosions from artillery fire, the reverberations of which we could feel on board the ship as we patrolled the coastline. Along with other NATO forces, we protected airtime routes and ensured that supply ships and aircraft could reach the besieged city,' Peats said. 'It was profoundly sad and deeply humbling to bear witness to this tragedy unfold, but it was heartening that Canada, alongside our NATO allies, had answered the call to help people that long for peace and stability from a brutal and hostile regime. Peats said the Battle Honour for the ship is a mark of distinction and a symbol of the crews' courage, commitment and operational excellence. 'Behind every mission are the people who make it happen – sailors, officers, technician, air men and women, and support personnel who live the values of service before self,' he said. 'As a former captain, I can say with certainty that honours such as these are not about the steel of the ship. They are about the strength of her people.' During the ceremony, a Royal Canadian Air Force CP-140 Aurora flew over the ship in honour. HMCS Vancouver is one of the navy ships at the Burrard Dry Dock for Fleet Week, an annual event aiming to increase public awareness and appreciation of the country's maritime defence efforts on the West Coast. While there is no tour available for HMCS Vancouver, members of the public can book free tours for other ships nearby from now until July 6 . This plush mattress topper transformed my bed and saved me from neck and back pain — and it costs less than $60
Once upon a time, my husband and I were sleeping on a really hard Queen-sized mattress. Almost every night I would toss and turn, waking up with a stiff back and neck. It wasn't fun. I complained to my husband — a lot. "Why didn't you just buy a new mattress?" you're probably thinking. Well, here's the scenario — we didn't want to buy a new king-sized bed — and all the accompanying bedroom furniture — until we bought our forever house. And we didn't want to invest in one of the best mattresses that we would only use for a year or so either before we'd move out. Finally, one night, while I was lost in the black hole that is Amazon Prime, I started looking at mattress toppers. I went straight to the page for Amazon's Choice products, which I've found to be a good starting point of well-priced and well-reviewed products. I found my favorite leggings this way, so I figured it would be a good way to find the best mattress topper, too. This is how I found the Linenspa 2-Inch Gel Infused Memory Foam Mattress Topper: a soft mattress topper that turned my bed from a hard plank to a squishy oasis. The best part? The mattress topper cost me just a little less than $60. Design The Linenspa mattress topper has a simple design: it's essentially a sheet of memory foam that goes right on top of your mattress. There's no straps to connect it to your bed: simply unroll it and it's good to go. The mattress topper is made of memory foam infused with cooling gel. The foams are CertiPUR-US certified, meaning they're free of dangerous chemicals, and the entire topper is Oeko-Tex Certified. It's available in two heights: two inches and three inches. The two-inch version is typically better if you prefer a medium-firm feel, while the three-inch version is best if you like ultimate plushness. The Linenspa mattress topper comes in a plethora of sizes from twin to California king, including twin XL, full XL, and short queen. Our review of the Linenspa Mattress Topper The mattress topper arrived the next day in vacuum-sealed packaging and was easy to unroll. It was easy for me to carry as it's less than 10 pounds, but if you have any trouble carrying that weight, I'd suggest getting a friend or family member to help. The mattress topper looked super flat at first but then quickly expanded to its full two-inches. The pad itself is blue, and the memory foam is infused with a cooling gel that supposedly captures and distributes body heat in order to help regulate temperature and keep you cool at night. I didn't really notice this aspect of the topper a lot since I just wanted to sleep on a softer surface, but my husband and I both sleep hot and we didn't wake up sweaty so I guess it helped a little. Depending on when you get your topper, I'd suggest opening it in the morning, placing it on your bed, and allowing it to "breathe" for several hours before sleeping on it. Some reviewers complain that it has an odor because it was vacuum-sealed, but I didn't experience that. Some mattress toppers come with a cover, but this one doesn't, so you might want to order one. Alternatively, you can place it under a mattress pad, which is what I did. Or you can just place it directly on your mattress and put your bed sheets on top. The first night sleeping on our doctored-up bed was honestly pretty awesome. While I can't say it was like sleeping on a cloud, it definitely transformed our hard slab to a plusher, more body-conforming mattress and we felt like we were sleeping on a new mattress. After sleeping on the bed for several weeks, my husband noticed that my back and neck pain complaints subsided substantially too. In retrospect, I should have gone with the three-inch version instead for a little more cushioning. After several months, the topper is still in great condition and has definitely made our mattress much more comfortable. I haven't noticed any sagging or denting either. Cons to consider While the mattress topper was extremely comfortable, it's worth noting that it doesn't come with straps to attach to your bed. If you're a restless sleeper, this might pose a problem, as the topper is more likely to shift around on your bed. Also, it can be difficult to know if the two-inch or three-inch topper is best for you. After trying it, I'd recommend the three-inch topper if you want a plush feel. What are your alternatives? The best budget pick in our best mattress topper guide is the Lucid Bamboo Memory Foam Topper. Like the Linenspa topper, it's a simple sheet of memory foam. It performed well in our cooling and motion isolation tests. Plus, it's super plush and has three thickness options. The bottom line The Linenspa mattress topper was an incredibly small investment for such a huge improvement in our quality of sleep. I'm really glad that I didn't spend hundreds of dollars on a topper, especially because this one worked just fine. As I mentioned before, if I could go back in time I might've chosen the plusher three-inch option, which only costs $20 more. But we're still happy with our two-inch topper and now my husband doesn't have to listen to me complain about my neck and back.
