High Noon issues recall over vodka seltzers mislabeled as Celsius energy drinks
The public announcement states that in February 2023, an almost 2-year-old child was asphyxiated after his shirt got caught on one of the hooks used to hold toy kitchen accessories, such as play pots and pans. The child was unable to free himself and died.
KidKraft, Inc. filed for bankruptcy in May 2024. The recall announcement states that Backyard Kids has agreed to provide free replacement hooks to all consumers with affected units as a part of the recall.
'Backyard Kids has voluntarily agreed to recall and provide free replacement hooks for all units, even though only about 400 of the 192,000 recalled units were sold to consumers by Backyard Kids. In addition, 12 were sold in Canada,' states the recall.
The play kitchens were sold online at KidKraft.com, Amazon.com and Walmart.com from 2018 through July 2025 for between $120 and $270.
Consumers are advised to stop using the play kitchens immediately, remove the original hooks, and contact Backyard Kids for free replacement hooks.

192,000 Play Kitchens Are Recalled After Child Dies of Strangulation
About 192,000 children's play kitchens that pose 'a risk of serious injury or death' are being recalled after the shirt of a 23-month-old boy got caught on one of its hooks and he asphyxiated, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said this week. The play kitchens, which were marketed as the KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchens, have three hooks intended to hang accessories. They can pose a strangulation and asphyxia hazard, the commission said. According to the recall notice from the commission, issued in conjunction with Canada's health agency, Health Canada, children who crawl onto the kitchen set could get caught on the hooks and asphyxiate or suffocate themselves. The product was sold by Backyard Kids of Plano, Texas, and previously KidKraft. In a statement, KidKraft said safety is its 'first priority.' It warned customers of the danger, adding that they 'should immediately stop using the recalled play kitchens.' Anyone who owns the kitchen toy set should remove the hooks and contact Backyard Kids for free replacement hooks, the consumer agency and the brand's statement said. A representative for Backyard Kids could not be immediately reached on Friday. A photo released with the recall shows a children's kitchen with a small fridge, sink and oven measuring 43 inches tall and 44 inches long. The area behind the sink and oven is backless with a rod that holds three hooks meant to hold play pots and pans. The promotional image for the product shows some toy kitchen utensils hanging from it. In February 2023, the clothing of the 23-month-old boy in Oregon got snagged on one of the hooks leading to his death, the commission said. The recalled kitchens were sold online at and from 2018 through July 2025. The model number 53411 is found on a sticker on the back of the play set, the commission said. KidKraft filed for bankruptcy in 2024, the commission said. KidKraft is a brand under Backyard Kids, according to the company's website. More information about the recall is available on the company's website.

Kids play kitchens recalled for strangulation risk after toddler death
Nearly 200,000 kids play kitchens have been recalled for a strangulation hazard after a child died while playing with one. On July 31, Backyard Kids issued a recall of about 192,000 KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchens, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. According to the recall notice, the play kitchens include hooks used to hold toy kitchen accessories that could catch on children's clothing, posing a strangulation risk that could cause injury or death. In February 2023, a 23-month-old child in Oregon who was climbing on the back of the play kitchen asphyxiated after his shirt got caught on one of the hooks. He was unable to rescue himself and died from strangulation and asphyxia, according to the notice. The companies said they have not received any other reports of the hooks injuring a child or catching their clothing. Which kids kitchen sets have been recalled? The sets being recalled are the KidKraft Farm to Table Model Play Kitchens, which can be identified by the model number 53411. The model number is on a sticker on the back of the product, according to the recall notice. The play kitchens were sold online by Kidkraft, Amazon and Walmart from 2018 to July 2025 for between $120 and $270, according to the notice. What to do if your kids kitchen set has been recalled Consumers who have one of the recalled play kitchens should immediately stop using the set and remove the original hooks, the recall notice said. Backyard Kids is providing free replacement hooks for consumers who have been affected by the recall. Consumers can contact Backyard Kids for the replacement hooks on KidKraft's website, by calling 1-800-882-0234 or via email at recall@ KidKraft has hook removal instructions on its website. Why is Backyard Kids, not KidKraft, issuing the recall? KidKraft, which is a separate kid's toy company from Backyard Kids, originally manufactured the sets. However, KidKraft filed for bankruptcy in 2024 and cannot conduct the recall, it said on its website. Backyard Kids purchased the remaining sets from KidKraft after it filed for bankruptcy and sold some units to customers, which is why it is issuing the recall.
