Gotham FC of the National Women's Soccer League and Tigres UANL of Liga MX Femenil have advanced to the final with emphatic victories over Club América and the Portland Thorns.

Gotham topped América 3-1, navigating through windy and rainy conditions Wednesday evening at Estadio Universitario in Monterrey, Mexico. Tigres' two unanswered goals against the Thorns in the first 28 minutes of the game sealed their fate later that night.
The NWSL side started strong, with Brazilian striker Geyse volleying home a corner from Sarah Schupansky in the 21st minute, her second goal for the team since arriving from Manchester United in March. Gotham's second goal came from a penalty by Midge Purce, who also drew the foul in the box, her first since her return from her anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Just three minutes later, América's chances at advancing past the 2023 NWSL champions narrowed when defender Jana Gutiérrez deflected a rebound off the post into her own net and brought the score to 3-0.
Despite the early upset, América got on the board in the 38th minute through Spanish national Irene Guerrero, who took advantage of a deflection off a cross. The Mexican side looked more composed in the second half, creating more scoring opportunities, especially after Sarah Luebbert (former Chicago Red Stars and University of Missouri standout) came on as a substitute and threatened Gotham's defense.

The night's second semifinal served up a clash between NWSL heavyweights Portland Thorns and Liga MX Femenil powerhouse Tigres UANL, and it was all Tigres. The Mexican side dominated the game, taking advantage of the Thorns' weakness in defense. Tigres' first goal came in the 10th minute from 21-year-old Aaliyah Farmer. Shortly after, South African national Thembi Kgatlana took advantage of goalkeeper Bella Bixby's grave error and scored Tigres' second goal in the 27th minute.
Thorns came back with two tactical substitutions the second time, bringing on Payton Linnehan and Kaitlyn Torpey to inject pace and width on the right, but could not find goal positions as expected.
The final will take place at 10 p.m. ET Saturday. The winner of the Concacaf Women's Champions Cup secures a spot in the inaugural 2026 FIFA Women's Champions Cup and the 2028 FIFA Women's Club World Cup.

Raúl Jiménez's goal sends Mexico to 12th CONCACAF Gold Cup final with 1-0 win over Honduras
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Raúl Jiménez scored in the 50th minute off an assist from 16-year-old Gilberto Mora and Mexico advanced to its 12th CONCACAF Gold Cup final with a 1-0 victory over Honduras on Wednesday night. El Tri advanced to play the United States in the final Sunday night in Houston for the eighth meeting in the title game between the two countries with Mexico owning a 5-2 edge. Mexico has won nine Gold Cups, the U.S. seven and Canada one. Mexico broke through early in the second half on a play started by Alexis Vega with a pass to Mora near the top of the box. Mora slid a pass to Jiménez, who beat Edrick Menjívar with a right-footed shot for his 42nd career international goal. No. 17 ranked Mexico appeared to add to that lead a few minutes later when Edson Álvarez tapped in a goal off a set piece but that was negated when video review ruled he was offside. But El Tri managed to hold onto that lead as 75th ranked Honduras was unable to generate an equalizer. 'We had a deserved victory,' coach Javier Aguirre said through an interpreter. Honduras reached this stage for the first time since 2013 despite losing the opener of the tournament 6-0 to Canada. The Hondurans haven't made the final since the inaugural tournament in 1991 when they lost in penalty kicks to the U.S. Mexico hasn't allowed a goal in 383 minutes and goalie Luis Malagón has had to make only one save in the last three matches — an easy stop on Dixon Ramírez's shot from outside the box late in the first half. El Tri's had two good opportunities late in the first half. Johan Vásquez's shot in the box deflected off Honduran defender Denil Maldonado and right into the hands of goalie Menjívar. Menjívar then made a sharp save against Marcel Ruíz in the 42nd minute and Julián Martínez cleared the rebound out of danger. There was a chippy moment in the 11th minute when a ball was played into the Mexico bench area. Romell Quioto aggressively tried to get the ball for Honduras and Mexican reserve Guillermo Ochoa took exception, leading to players on both teams getting heated and a yellow card for Ochoa. ___ AP soccer:

Claire Hutton scores first international goal to help the United States beat Canada 3-0
WASHINGTON -- Just playing for the U.S. national team was a big opportunity for Claire Hutton. Then Canada left her a bit too much space at the edge of the 6-yard box — and Rose Lavelle found her with a perfect corner kick. The 19-year-old midfielder was ready. Hutton headed home her first international goal, and the Americans easily dispatched Canada 3-0 in a friendly Wednesday for their fifth straight victory. Sam Coffey and Yazmeen Ryan also scored. 'Set pieces are something we focus on. It's what we talk about,' Hutton said. 'At the international level, it's what sets teams apart, especially in big tournaments. So being able to get my head on Rose's perfect ball there was just amazing. Hoping for more in the future.' The Americans have won five straight friendlies by a combined score of 18-0 since their 2-1 loss to Brazil in early April. The 19-year-old Hutton was making her sixth appearance for the national team, and her goal in the 36th minute gave the U.S. a 2-0 lead. 'It's just amazing. To wear this jersey, wear this badge, it weighs a lot. I know the history behind it," said Hutton, who plays for the Kansas City Current. "We talked about the U.S. legacy this past week. Just knowing that I get to be a part of it, it means the world to me.' U.S. coach Emma Hayes gave many of her Europe-based options a break for this stretch of three games in seven days, which also included two 4-0 wins over Ireland. That left opportunities for less experienced players like Hutton. 'As I've said many times, I'm all about improving the whole ecosystem. I think more opportunities for more players with the national team will improve the NWSL,' Hayes said. 'Because it gives players hope and belief that if they perform, that they're going to get an opportunity.' The U.S. opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Lavelle delivered a free kick into the penalty area from near the left sideline. Canada's Janine Sonis tried to head clear, but the ball fell to Avery Patterson and then bounced to Coffey about 9 yards from the goal. Both Coffey and Patterson stabbed at the ball, and both appeared to make contact with it. It went straight into the net. Coffey was credited with the goal and Patterson with an assist. 'I will give her full credit for that. I did not touch it at all,' Patterson said, not entirely believably. 'I laid it up for her on a platter.' Claudia Dickey, who also shut out Ireland in her international debut last Thursday, stopped a shot from in close by Canada's Jordyn Huitema shortly after Coffey's goal. But the Americans created far more chances. Canada coach Casey Stoney called her team's performance 'inexcusable' and said her players' fitness wasn't good enough. 'A lack of commitment and desire, which is not this team,' she said. 'Losing draws, losing 50-50s, not getting up to the ball, not pressing — it's not good enough. I'm not going to hide away from it.' Lavelle received a standing ovation when she was subbed out around the midway point of the second half. The crowd also gave a big cheer when Tara McKeown — who plays locally for the Washington Spirit — came on as a late sub for the U.S. McKeown assisted on Ryan's goal in the 89th minute.

USWNT earn comfortable win vs Canada; Mexico Women upset Colombia
The Men's sides for both the US and Mexico were not the only national teams to take the pitch tonight on this side of the world, as both Women's sides of the Concacaf powerhouse pair featured in friendly action. Emma Hayes's outfit came to grips with rivals Canada at Audi Field, while Pedro López's El Tri Femenil locked horns with Colombia in front of home support. Advertisement Here is how all the action broke down tonight in Washington D.C. and Zacatepec. Ordoñez strike proves decisive Scorers: Ordoñez 58' El Tri Femenil will go home the happier of the two sides tonight in front of home fans after fighting to a narrow 1-0 win over South American stalwart Colombia at Estadio Agustín Coruco Díaz. In a hotly contested affair, one key moment would define the friendly tie on the night, with a 58th-minute goal from Diana Ordoñez holding up as the match-winner for Pedro López's side. Separated by 11 places in the FIFA Women's rankings, Mexico would survive to book an upset win over a Colombia outfit who were undefeated in their last four fixtures, which included an impressive result against Japan. USWNT make it five on the spin Scorers: Coffey 17', Hutton 36', Ryan 89' Advertisement The USWNT would extend their recent winning run to five after dispatching Canada in a comfortable 3-0 win in the nation's capital. Portland Thorns midfielder Sam Coffey would open the scoring in the 17th minute to set the US away in the run-up to the holiday weekend. KC Current star Claire Hutton would extend their advantage with a match-sealing strike in the 36th minute to put Hayes' troops out of sight before the interval. A late strike just before the full-time whistle from Houston Dash forward Yazmeen Ryan would pad the stats sheet for the US on a night where they coasted throughout. 📸 Hannah Foslien - 2025 Getty Images
