Colorado's Deion Sanders breaks silence on health concerns

Yahoo2 days ago
The Colorado Buffaloes are entering a new era with Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter both in the NFL.
The good news is that Deion Sanders is still the head coach of the program. Coach Prime was absent from campus as he dealt with some medical issues.

The biggest question everyone was wondering was the status of his health situation. Well, he provided an update at Big 12 Media Days on Wednesday, via Pete Thamel of ESPN.
"I'm really not going to tell you much. I'm not going to talk about my health. I living good. I'm living lovely. Not a care in the world," Sanders said.
Sanders didn't want to disclose any information on what exactly the situation was, and rightfully so.
In early June, Brent Schrotenboer of USA Today reported that Sanders' return to Boulder was unclear as he recovered from an unspecified health issue.
Sanders also made sure to give a special shoutout to Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark and Colorado Athletic Director Rick George, per Jake Schwanitz of DNVR.

'Brett Yormark, I love you man. I appreciate you. I think, I don't think, I know we have the best commissioner in college football… Rick, my AD, love you to life. You've always believed, you've always been a man of standard and I'm thankful for this tremendous opportunity you've gave me," Sanders said as his opening statement at Big 12 Media Days.
As Coach Prime said, he's "living good" and doesn't seem too bothered about the health issues he was dealing with.

NFL uniform rankings: How do the New York Giants stack up?

The NFL has updated its policies on uniforms, relaxing some of the previous policies and allowing teams to use alternate uniforms or throwback uniforms up to four times this season. Previously, teams were only permitted to use varying uniforms three times per season. They've also loosened the rule on combining alternate helmets with classic uniforms, something that hasn't been allowed in the past. In 2025, the NFL and Nike collaborated on new "Rivalries" uniforms and gear. This year, the AFC East and NFC West will sport the new design, with more teams being added each year until 2028. The uniforms are said to resemble the NBA's "City Edition" and MLB's "City Connect" jerseys, although the actual design has not been released. With these updated rules, USA TODAY's Nate Davis analyzed each team's "closet" of possible uniforms and ranked them accordingly. The New York Giants dropped in this ranking and now sit inside the bottom 10, meaning their uniforms are "meh." Previous rank: 19Current rank: 23 Thankfully their 100th season is over … and we won't have to see those ancient throwbacks featuring Montreal Canadiens jerseys paired with khaki-colored pants, which they wore (just once) last season. Their 1980s retro uniform remains their best look, and the bland red-and-white roadies (which inexplicably lack any blue notes) remain problematic. As of right now, the Giants have no plans to unveil a new uniform combination in 2025 and will continue with the standard blue home jersey with white accents and the white away jerseys with red accents. Despite calls for a refreshed look, the Giants will continue with the same uniforms adopted in 2000. They'll sprinkle in some alternates in 2025, and there are already plans for a game showcasing the 1980s throwbacks worn in 2023, and they have four games to use alternates.

Adam Schefter's latest on Bengals, Shemar Stewart isn't positive

Cincinnati Bengals first-round pick Shemar Stewart remains a focal point ahead of training camp. Stewart's contract saga with the Bengals took center stage on a recent radio show, with NFL insider Adam Schefter giving his take on the whole ordeal. Shefter, appearing on the 'Rothman and Ice Show' this week, wondered if the Bengals will have to throw in the proverbial towel on topic. 'I think he's dug in on the language', Schefter said. 'He doesn't want to be the first one and be made an example of. The Bengals haven't had this language before. Other teams have had it, but the Bengals haven't, and he doesn't want to be the guy. He seems unwilling to budge'. RELATED: Cincinnati Bengals' 53-man roster projection following 2025 offseason The Bengals were strange to choose this year as the time to attempt a reset of language precedent in their contracts relating to the voiding of guarantees. For his part, Stewart took a bold stance of his own in electing not to sign injury waivers and at least practice with his teammates while still unsigned, a rarity for rookies. A smart decision or not by the Bengals, both parties benefit if Stewart is actually on the field and developing. But whether that means one party blinks or they come to an agreeable compromise remains to be seen. RELATED: Joe Burrow feelings on Trey Hendrickson contract standoff revealed

New York Giants' Malik Nabers named a 'player to root for' in 2025

New York Giants star receiver Malik Nabers had one of the best seasons by a rookie receiver in franchise history. General manager Joe Schoen certainly got himself a star to build around, and it will be exciting to see what Nabers can do in a season without a revolving door at the quarterback position. Recently, Nabers was named the Giants' player to root for during the 2025 NFL season by Tom Blair of NFL Media. I tried to focus on what I'm rooting for when selecting players for this piece, but in making a case for Nabers, I'm flipping the formula. Because what I definitely do not want is for Nabers to become yet another talented receiver whose ultimate ceiling is shrouded by a forgettable quarterback and surrounding cast. It's great that he made the Pro Bowl and garnered some Offensive Rookie of the Year votes while catching passes from Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, Tommy DeVito and Tim Boyle last year. Next, let's get him into some meaningful late-season or playoff games. Whatever the Giants decide to do between Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart at quarterback, I just hope they're able to find the quickest possible path to an uptick in high-leverage targets for Nabers. Nabers may exceed expectations in his sophomore season with the upgrades in the quarterback room. A healthy offensive line will also go a long way for both Nabers and the rest of the Giants' offense. Topping his rookie campaign will be difficult, but with the Giants' schedule being as hard as it is, they may throw a lot if they're trailing in games. There's also a chance there is a shift at the quarterback position if the Giants' record is less than ideal early on. Nabers' explosive, big-play ability makes him a must-watch as he goes into his rookie season.
