Gujrat CM Bhupendra Patel pays floral tribute to Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his birth anniversary
On this occasion, Health Minister Rushikesh Patel and Minister of State for Cooperation Jagdish Vishwakarma were also present, and they offered floral tributes to the portrait of the late Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
Minister Rushikesh Patel stated that July 6 marks the birth anniversary of India's great son, Syama Prasad Mookerjee. He gave rise to a new ideological stream in India. Due to the influence of his father, Ashutosh Mookerjee, who was known for his strict discipline, belief in Hindutva, and rich values, Syama Prasad was imbued with high Indian cultural values from a young age. After completing his M.A. and LLB, Syama Prasadji became the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calcutta, the statement said.
Later, he became an MLA. At the insistence of Veer Savarkar, he became active in the Hindu Mahasabha. In the first Cabinet of independent India, he was entrusted with the responsibility of Minister of Industry and Supply. He was deeply active and concerned about the issue of Kashmir and was the architect of the principle of 'Ek Vidhan - Ek Nishan - Ek Pradhan' (One Constitution, One Flag, One Prime Minister) for the nation. Throughout his life, he remained a staunch supporter of an undivided India and consistently fought for Kashmir. His life philosophy continues to guide us today to live with the spirit of putting national interest first, said Rushikesh Patel while paying tribute to Syama Prasadji.
The floral tributes to the portrait of the late Syama Prasad Mookerjee were also offered by Former Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama, Gandhinagar City BJP President Ashish Dave, Chairman of the Standing Committee of Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation Gaurang Vyas, Acting Secretary of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly CB Pandya, as well as officers and employees of the Assembly. This partnership has weathered several transitions and challenges,' Jaiswal said in response to several questions regarding Trump's tariff policy. Cong coined ‘Hindu terror' theory to target RSS & Vichar Parivar: Fadnavis
Nagpur: CM Devendra Fadnavis on Friday alleged that the "Hindu terror" narrative was a politically motivated conspiracy crafted by the Congress-led UPA govt in 2008 to malign Hindutva organisations, particularly the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and its Vichar Parivar affiliates and build a false equivalence to 'Islamic terrorism', a term coined globally at that time. He said the Malegaon blast case acquittals busted what he called as a "Cong-fabricated plot. " "The Congress and UPA govt coined the terms 'Hindu terrorism' and 'saffron terror' to deliberately target Hindutva organisations," Fadnavis said, a day after a trial court acquitted all seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon blasts. He was addressing media on the sidelines of the inauguration of a new administrative building and foundation of new hostel complexes of Kavikulguru Kalidas Sanskrit University's new campus in Waranga near Wardha road. The CM was reacting to both the verdict and former Maharashtra anti-terrorism squad (ATS) officer Mehboob Mujawar's claim, who recently alleged that he was pressured by superiors to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat as part of the investigation in an effort aimed at reinforcing the saffron terror narrative, he said. "From the early 1990s to early 2000s, the world was grappling with Islamic terrorism, with links pointing at Pakistan. The United States, Europe, and India all faced deadly terror strikes. Instead of confronting reality, the Cong sought to please its vote bank (with fabricated narrative)," Fadnavis alleged. He said that the attempt to brand Hindu organisations as terror outfits was not backed by any concrete evidence. "Many sincere and honest police officers took a stand. They categorically told the political leadership that there was no proof against RSS or Vichar Parivar functionaries. These officers refused to be part of any unlawful activity, which ultimately prevented the misuse of law enforcement agencies," he said. Fadnavis asserted that the fabricated narrative was a "deep-rooted conspiracy" to ban Hindutva organisations by projecting them as extremist forces. "This wasn't just about one case. The objective was to systematically defame nationalist organisations like the RSS. But now that the Malegaon verdict is out, truth is beginning to surface. More voices will emerge to expose what actually happened behind the scenes," he said. Targeting senior Cong leader Prithviraj Chavan, Fadnavis remarked, "Today, he talks about saffron as the sacred colour of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. But he was in the PMO under PM Manmohan Singh when the same colour was being painted as a symbol of terror. Why didn't he oppose it then?" The CM emphasised that bhagwa (saffron), Hindu identity and Sanatan dharma are not separate entities. "They are inspired by the same source — nationalism and civilisational pride. There is no distinction between them. These are not fringe ideas but central to our cultural identity," he said.

Congress shouldn't allow BJP to usurp saffron colour, says Prithviraj Chavan amid ‘saffron terror' charges
Appealing to his own party leaders to not term terror as 'saffron terror', former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan on Friday (August 1, 2025) said that the Congress should not let the BJP usurp saffron colour. '14 Crore Maharashtrians revere saffron, not because of BJP, but because of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj,' he told The Hindu. Hitting back at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who said there never was any Hindutva or saffron terror, he asked, 'Who was Nathuram Godse then? Who killed Comrade Pansare or Narendra Dabholkar? While terror has no colour, acts of terror need to be recognised. What is the colour of terror in Manipur?' He said that the current government had failed to give justice to the victims of terror attacks. 'There have been acquittals in the 7/11 train blasts and in Malegaon blast. What will you tell the victims? Who did it? Someone has to be accountable. The government should go in appeal against both the orders. Where is justice otherwise?' he asked. Mr Chavan said that as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra before 2014, he had sent a proposal to the Centre to ban Sanatan Sanstha under the stringent UAPA. ATS policeman's statement questioned He questioned the timing and the content of a former policeman of Maharashtra Police who has claimed that he was asked to arrest Mohan Bhagwat after the Malegaon blasts. 'How can you trust a former inspector? Can an inspector be privy to such high level discussions? What is the basis of his statement? Also, this is not the first time he has said it. When Fadnavis became the CM in 2014, why didn't he say anything about it?' he asked, calling the timing of the statement conspicuous.
