Jail For Carrying Weapons In Kuwait Schools, Mosques, Markets
Speaking to KUNA following the weekly Cabinet session, Minister Al-Sumait stated that the amendments specifically criminalize the possession or carrying of bladed weapons or air guns (with a caliber of 6mm or higher) in public spaces—such as schools, mosques, and markets—without valid justification. Violators will face imprisonment ranging from six months to one year, a fine between KD 500 and KD 1,000, or both.
Furthermore, individuals who deliberately use such weapons to intimidate others in public places will be subject to imprisonment ranging from one to two years and fines between KD 1,000 and KD 2,000. The amendments also prohibit the unlicensed sale, importation, or marketing of these weapons.
According to the proposed changes, the Minister of Interior will be authorized to define the specific types of weapons covered by the ban and to determine the public areas where the restrictions will apply.
Minister Al-Sumait emphasized that these legal revisions aim to close a significant legislative gap by criminalizing actions that threaten public security. 'The amendment addresses a legislative loophole that has long needed attention,' he said. 'It reinforces the authority of the law and reflects legislative awareness in confronting emerging behaviors that endanger societal peace.'

KFAED, UK sign MoUs to assist Sudan, Somalia
Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development KUWAIT: The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to deliver joint emergency humanitarian aid to conflict-affected populations in Sudan and Somalia. In a statement to KUNA on Sunday, KFAED announced that both sides will jointly provide a humanitarian grant totaling $10 million—$5 million from each party—to support the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Sudan. The assistance will help maintain access to essential services including healthcare, nutrition, water, sanitation, and child protection for vulnerable populations in the country. An additional grant of $5 million ($2.5 million from each side) will be allocated to finance a joint project supporting the efforts of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Somalia, the Fund added. Acting Director General of KFAED Waleed Al-Bahar said the agreements underscore the Fund's commitment to strengthening international partnerships in humanitarian relief, development, and peacebuilding. Expat Victim of Online Scam; Entire Bank Balance Wiped Out
KUWAIT CITY, July 6: An expatriate in Jahra area lost his entire bank balance after unknowingly accessing a fraudulent payment link. Although he did not share his one-time password (OTP), his account was emptied within minutes. According to a security source, 54 yr old victim reported that he came across a product advertised at an unusually high price while browsing a social media platform. Eager to make the purchase, he clicked on a payment link and attempted to complete the transaction, but received a message stating that it had failed. Moments later, he was shocked to discover that KD 226.500 had been withdrawn from his bank account in two separate transactions. The incident has been registered as a felony under Case No. 149/2025, and investigations are underway.
