Qatar, Philippines hold round of political consultations
Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs HE Dr Ahmed bin Hassan Al Hammadi chaired the Qatari side, while Undersecretary of the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations and ASEAN Affairs HE Maria Theresa Lazaro, chaired the Philippine side.
During the consultations, the two sides discussed relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them, in addition to a number of topics of common interest.
The round of political consultations was attended by Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Philippines HE Ahmed bin Saad Al Hamidi, and Acting Director of the Asian Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al Johara Yousef Al Obaidan Fakhro, along with the accompanying delegation.

60,000 people in Sri Lanka to benefit from QC's relief and development aid project
Tribune News Network Doha With support from philanthropists in Qatar, Qatar Charity (QC) has launched a relief and development aid distribution project in Sri Lanka. The launch event was attended by representatives from the Sri Lankan government, the Embassy of the State of Qatar, civil society, and several other donors. This initiative forms part of QC's broader collaborative efforts to respond to the aftermath of natural disasters, support individuals with special needs, and empower vulnerable families. The project targets approximately 60,000 people from vulnerable and displaced groups, covering 14 product categories, including grain and spice grinding machines, sewing machines, manual and electric wheelchairs, furniture and desks, blood pressure monitors, and other tools that contribute to improving the daily lives of sisterly families and joint development efforts. In his speech, Mahmoud Abu Khalifa, director of QC's office in Sri Lanka, stated that the project aligns with the organisation's vision of ensuring a dignified life for all. He explained that the distribution of aid is not a substitute for long-term support, but rather a strategic step towards economic empowerment and poverty reduction—particularly for vulnerable, displaced, and disaster-affected families. The credit goes to the people of Qatar for their ongoing support of charitable, humanitarian, and development initiatives around the world, including their meaningful collaboration with government and local bodies in Sri Lanka, he said. Speaking on behalf of Munir Muzafer, deputy minister of justice and national integration, he expressed gratitude to Qatar Charity for its significant efforts in supporting the people of Sri Lanka over the past six years. These efforts included addressing the needs of individuals and families in need, as well as providing relief to those affected by floods. He also extended thanks to the State of Qatar and the Qatari Embassy for their vital role in supporting the Sri Lankan people, stressing the urgent need to facilitate continued cooperation and ensure the sustainability of these initiatives. At the launch, Ali Hassan Al-Emadi from the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Sri Lanka highlighted his direct contribution to the important work carried out by Qatar Aid, which reflects the civilised and humanitarian values upheld by the State of Qatar in promoting human dignity and civil peace. He also emphasised the importance of continued cooperation between Sri Lankan government agencies and Qatar Aid to ensure the sustainability of various contributions for the benefit of Sri Lankan society. R M Madhushika Kanchanamalisaid: 'I am very grateful for this assistance at a time when I was in dire need of support. Now I want to start a small business that will help ease my children's suffering. My thanks go to the donors and for the drops of gratitude they offer through New Hope. I hope this assistance reaches many more women like me.' It is worth noting that the Qatar Charity office in Sri Lanka, alongside the distribution of these items, is currently implementing several development projects. These include the construction of schools and health centres, the drilling of water wells, the establishment of housing for Qur'an readers, and a variety of social and community development initiatives aligned with Sri Lanka's strategic development goals across various sectors.

Qatari students discuss cultural identity at Arab Parliament for the Child
Tribune News Network Doha A delegation of Qatari students participated in the second session of the fourth session of the Arab Parliament for the Child, hosted by the Emirate of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates from July 22 to 26, 2025. Fifty-six members representing 14 Arab countries participated in the event, which strengthens the voice of Arab children and refines their leadership skills. The Qatari delegation comprised students Tarf Abdullah Al-Afeefa, Maryam Ali Al-Namlan, and Fahad Abdul Aziz Al-Maliki, along with educational supervisors Amer Al-Naimi and Shaima Kamal. They contributed to rich discussions centered around the 'cultural identity of the Arab child,' as one of the fundamental pillars in building generations and strengthening national and patriotic belonging. The sessions are held under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and under the direct supervision of HE Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. This reflects a keen interest in the role of Arab children in shaping the present and anticipating the future. The session's programme included a series of specialised workshops and interactive dialogues, in addition to a plenary session during which the child parliamentarians expressed their views on cultural identity, based on working papers and analytical studies they had prepared themselves. This reflects the intellectual maturity and awareness of the nation's issues among Arab youth. The sessions are expected to yield specific recommendations to be submitted to relevant authorities at the Arab level to support national and educational policies related to cultural identity. This will contribute to building a generation proud of its language and culture, engaged in its nation's issues, and qualified to contribute positively to the development of its society. The Arab Children's Parliament, which has been permanently headquartered in Sharjah since 2019, continues to play its pioneering educational role as a platform that amplifies children's voices, enhances their participation in public life, and prepares them to become decision-makers and active partners in the process of sustainable development. This participation aligns with the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar to empower students and enhance their participation in regional and international forums, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Qatar attends World AI Conference opening ceremony in China
QNA Shanghai The State of Qatar participated in the opening ceremony of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference and High-level Meeting on Global Artificial Intelligence Governance, held in the city of Shanghai, in the presence of Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang, as well as representatives from more than 40 countries and international organisations. The Qatari delegation was headed by Consul-General of the State of Qatar in Shanghai HE Rashid bin Mubarak Al Khater.
