Black Myth: Wukong, Dragon's Dogma 2, Mortal Kombat 1, and many others have all received big discounts on the PlayStation Store.
The PlayStation Store might rival DFS in its constant sales, but each refresh usually comes with some standout deals.
This month sees Sony kick off the Mid-Year Deals sale, which runs from today until Wednesday, July 2. While it is largely an assortment of the usual suspects (hello, Dead By Daylight DLC), some discounts are substantial across several series' with an upcoming sequel.
The most notable of these might be The Witcher 3. The complete edition, which includes both story expansions Hearts Of Stone and Blood And Wine, is 80% off at a mere £6.99. If you're subscribed to PlayStation Plus Extra, you can even play the base game for free.
In terms of other games with inbound sequels, Borderlands 3 Next Level Edition, which includes various cosmetics, is 90% off at £6.49. If you've never jumped into the series, it will give you a cheap taste of what to expect from Borderlands 4 in September.
There are other discounts on more modern titles. Black Myth: Wukong is 20% off at £43.99, while Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 – Vault Edition is 35% off at £64.99. Meanwhile, EA Sports FC 25 Ultimate Edition is 60% off at £39.99 and Silent Hill 2 Deluxe Edition is £41.99.
If you're looking for notable cheap deals though, Red Dead Redemption 2 Ultimate Edition is 80% off at £19.99, while Resident Evil 4 remake is down to £17.49.

Video game spending has dropped almost 25% amongst young people

Young adults are spending less and less across the board, but the games industry has been hit the hardest. Gaming has never been the cheapest of hobbies, but it has undeniably become more expensive in recent years, to the point that many have had to cut back their spending. Not only has the price of consoles gone up, with the Nintendo Switch 2's £395.99 price tag considered affordable by comparison, but so have the games. The ninth generation began with Sony insisting it had to start charging £70 for games and now we have Nintendo asking up to £75 for Mario Kart World. Regardless of where you stand on whether such price increases accurately reflect the value of the games, there's no doubt that they're a key factor in why spending on gaming as a whole is seeing a decline, especially amongst young adults. Matt Piscatella, executive director and industry analyst at Circana, has shared a chart on Bluesky collating data on the average weekly spending among adults aged 18 to 24 in the US, within the four weeks ending in April 2025. Aside from gaming, the data covers spending on things like houseware, accessories, and clothing. Compared to the same period of time in 2024, there have been sharp declines in spending among young adults in all areas, with gaming seeing the largest impact – a drop of nearly 25%. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. For what it's worth, video game spending among all other age groups hasn't declined as much, but it's still dropped by about 1 or 2%. This isn't universal among other industries though, with spending on sports equipment and beauty products up this year. Video game spend among 18 to 24's is down sharply."Young grads are having a much tougher time finding jobs. Student-loan payments are restarting for millions of borrowers… credit-card delinquency rates have risen to their highest points since before the pandemic…" — Mat Piscatella (@ 2025-07-01T14:25:35.367Z While this data is specifically for the US, spending habits between it and the UK aren't dissimilar, so it's safe to assume that more or less the same applies here. Even if it didn't, the US is a massive and important market for the games industry, so this should still be cause for concern amongst games companies. This all lines up with past data. Last year, chip company AMD (which both Sony and Microsoft are partnering with on their next consoles) admitted that demand for gaming had become 'quite weak.' Earlier this year, another Circana report revealed that more than 70% of active PlayStation 5 and Xbox players in the US were dedicating a significant amount of time to playing at least one of the 10 most popular live service games, such as Fortnite, Call Of Duty, and Roblox, rather than any new releases. More Trending A big part of this is because they're free-to-play, so there's less of a barrier to entry. As such, anyone who enjoys games but can't justify spending upwards of £80 on new releases is more likely to shift their attention to free-to-play fare. This in turn stands to further incentivise studios into making live service games, which earn their money through microtransactions; a strategy Sony has obsessively chased for years, with very little success beyond Helldivers 2 (which wasn't even made in-house). But even that isn't guaranteed to address the industry's woes, as evidenced by how many live service games have crashed and burned over the years. This is best exemplified by a March report that showed the vast majority of PC players are not only primarily playing live service games, but ones that were at least two years old. With the likes of Counter-Strike and League Of Legends still holding a fierce chokehold on the market, what chance do any new live service games have? Sony insider drops huge hint about PS6 release date

THE coveted PlayStation 6 could be released in as little as two years, according to analysts and a top Sony insider. However, Mark Cerny, the lead architect of several Sony consoles, is in no rush to get the PS6 onto shelves. 1 In a new interview, Cerny explained that PS5 Pro software enhancements, like FSR 4 upscaling, are his priority, Notebook Check reported. Many analysts have projected a PS6 release date in 2027 or 2028. While recent discussions have raised hopes that the PS6 release date may arrive sooner rather than later - it is still thought to be years away. Cerny, the lead designer of the PlayStation Vita, PS4 and PS5, appeared to be focused on boosting existing Sony consoles and games through software updates. "What I'm trying to do is prepare for the next generation of consoles, so my timeframe is multi-year here," he said. Talk of a "multi-year" timeline suggests analysts may be correct with their 2027 or 2028 forecasts. Although a handheld device that supports PS5 games may also be released around the same time, analysts have noted. Gaming rival Microsoft is set to launch its first handheld Xbox console later this year, after years of speculation. Surprise Helldivers 2 Xbox release announced for next month

Xbox enthusiasts are in for a treat as Helldivers 2 is set to launch on the latest consoles, and it's due to arrive incredibly soon. Contrary to popular opinion, the PS5 does indeed have games. With PS Plus recently adding Diablo 4 and all the titles announced in the Capcom Spotlight showcase coming to the console, it's difficult to continue poking fun at Sony for its lack of action, even if it's been silent on the exclusive title front for a while. There's plenty to anticipate as a PlayStation user, and for a long time, a key component in its ecosystem was Helldivers 2, consistently releasing new updates and new disasters for fighters to quell in the name of liberty for Super Earth. That's not to suggest that the quality has declined, far from it, but its prominence as a leading shooter has somewhat faded. However, this could be about to change. As part of what appears to be Microsoft's attempt to make Xbox the most extensive gaming company in the universe, it has been astonishingly revealed in the Helldivers 2 Discord that Helldivers 2 will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, after previously being exclusive to PlayStation and PC. It's a massive deal, particularly with active cross-play, and players will need to brace themselves. Prepare for lift-off, Helldivers. The Xbox blog has just spilled the beans: Helldivers 2 is set to land on Xbox Series X|S on Tuesday, August 26. Eager fans can secure their copy right now with pre-orders open for both the Standard and Super Citizen Editions. In a curious twist of fate, it's dropping the same day as Gears of War Reloaded. Game director Mikael Eriksson couldn't contain his excitement: "We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years – and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun." There's no word yet on an Xbox One version or a debut on Xbox Game Pass, suggesting these options aren't on the table at the moment. Nevertheless, the arrival of Helldivers 2 on Xbox is a significant leap, offering a warm welcome to all those potential fans who felt left out during its initial release. It's about time Xbox players got a taste of true freedom.
