Pembrokeshire's Oakwood Theme Park revival plan put forward

Pembrokeshire's Oakwood Theme Park revival plan put forward

The iconic attraction was shut down last March by its owners, Spanish leisure company Aspro Parks, who blamed decreasing footfall and rising costs for their decision to end the park's 38-year existence.
Aspro is now said to be considering the proposal from RLP (Richens Leisure Projects) and RLP said: "We'd love to open as soon as possible."
The man behind RLP, who lives in Carmarthenshire, close to the Pembrokeshire border, has asked to remain anonymous for the time being.
But he has happy childhood memories of Oakwood in its glory days as the top tourist attraction in Wales, when it brought in over 500,000 visitors a year.

'This is our one project, our full focus, and our commitment is absolute."

'I grew up in West Wales,' he added.' I remember every queue, every hill climb, every first drop.
"Oakwood wasn't just a theme park — it was a rite of passage for kids in this country. You didn't just go there. You remembered it.'
He continued: 'This isn't about nostalgia — it's about rebuilding pride. It's about giving today's kids the same memories we had, only with something stronger behind it: community ownership and a long-term plan.'

He confirmed that he understands that his formal acquisition proposal is being reviewed by Aspro Parks and added: "The public response has already been overwhelming — what's missing is movement from the owners. We're ready when they are.'
At the time of Oakwood's closure, Wales' First Minister, Eluned Morgan, said she was 'deeply saddened' at the news.
She is amongst key stakeholders throughout Wales – including Welsh Government economy and tourism divisions and Visit Wales – who have been contacted by RLP.

While not wishing to reveal any images of their plans for Oakwood's revival at this stage, RLP's owner says that the plan "isn't about flipping a distressed asset. It's about rebuilding something meaningful for west Wales - a park with pride, roots and identity."
"The moment we get the green light, we're ready to raise the serious funding this will require.
"That's already in motion — but it only activates once we have Aspro's approval to proceed. We've planned the infrastructure, the rides, the workforce, and the Welsh-facing identity.
"Now we just need the door to open."

Love Island winners revealed as Cach and Toni in close final

Cach and Toni have been revealed as the winners of Love Island 2025 after several weeks in the Spanish villa, and they have taken home the £50,000 prize over their fellow finalists Cach Mercer and Toni Laites have been revealed as the winners of Love Island 2025. The ITV2 reality show wrapped up its twelfth series on Monday night and viewers watched as the happy couple both looked shocked when it was declared that they had emerged victorious, and would be walking off with the £50,000 prize. ‌ The pair managed to win over the public, beating off competition from fellow finalists Angel Swift and Ty Isherwood, Harry Cooksley and Shakira Khan and Yasmin Pettett and Jamie Rhodes. Immediately after the big win was announced, the couple were greeted by their fellow Islanders as they rushed to congratulate them. ‌ Host Maya Jama announced their victory live on air. It comes after one Mirror writer claimed 'the new Bonnie Blue documentary may be the worst thing I've ever seen on Channel 4'. ‌ The pair looked shocked upon learning of their big win, and when Maya asked US native Toni if she had any words for the British public, she held back tears and screamed: "Yeah, I love you guys!" Viewers were quick to flood social media with their reactions, with one writing: "There you have winners Congratulations to Cach and Toni our American princess took the crown and our handsome and most gentleman we have this year." Another said: "They went from strangers to soulmates," and embellished their comment with a tears emoji and a red heart, whilst a third said: "Toni and Cach are such a deserving couple. Cach taught Toni the bare minimum she should expect in treatment from a man and Toni taught Cach that pride can sometimes stop you getting what you want. I'm here for it." Cach and Toni first laid eyes on each other during Casa Amor and although they struck up an instant connection, it was obvious Toni's heart was still with Harrison. Harrison however, had shared kisses with Helena in the main villa, leaving Toni with no option to explore, adamant Harrison would be doing the same. Of course, he did as he returned to the main villa with Lauren. The pair were glued to each other's hips, but Harrison continued to have flirty conversations with Toni. Harrison then persuaded Toni to couple up with him at the next recoupling, leaving Cach in tears in scenes that moved the nation. However, when Lauren was dumped from the villa, Harrison told his fellow Islanders that he saw himself being in a relationship with Lauren on the outside. ‌ As Harrison made his exit, Cach found it in his heart to forgive Toni, despite trying to get to know Billykiss at the same time. However, it looked like his family made need a little bit more convincing. Cut to the final week, and the couple couldn't have been happier despite all the tests and challenges thrown at them with Cach even telling (not asking) Toni to become exclusive with him. Although the pair reside across the Atlantic from each other, Toni has made it clear that she has no problems moving to London. During the final, the four finalists got all dressed up for one final meal together, and eventual runners-up Harry and Shakira reflected on their journey as a couple together throughout the series. She told him: "Doing this experience without you and watching things unfold was so hard because I felt so strongly towards you. You're everything I could possibly want in a partner. It's been an amazing last week and I'm excited for the future." Prior to coupling up with Shakira, Harry had a l ong-standing romance with Helena Ford and then his ex-girlfriend Emma Munro made a shock entrance to the villa before leaving in the weeks leading up to the final. Shakira was initially coupled up with Harry in the early weeks of the competition, but they got together again just days ahead of the final and he told her: "I came in here and thought it would be a lot of fun. Finding you in a Villa in Mallorca was not on my bingo card this summer. I do regret taking too long to tell you how I felt. We both know this is more than surface level - I think it always has been for me."

TV fans baffled as sizzling period drama plays completely in Spanish

Fans of The Gilded Age were left completely baffled after the latest episode aired entirely in Spanish. The Gilded Age is an American period drama from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and usually airs in English on HBO. However, due to a technical difficulty, fans were treated to a Spanish-dubbed version of the show, which left many struggling to understand what on earth was going on. '@hbomax The Gilded Age is currently only playing in Spanish on my app and I cannot follow what is happening to Señora Russell. Help! Ayuda!' said kpfallon on X. 'Same here, ended up watching it with English subtitles, but it wouldn't let me switch it to English language audio. Kind of like watching a Tele Novella. Ay, caramba!'williamriccijr added. 'Is The Gilded Age in Spanish for everyone or am I having a stroke,' asked NKinRealLife. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Fans worked out that the only way to rectify the issue was to select Spanish for the audio – which, because of the switch-up, would play the audio in English. 'GildedAge tonight defaults to Spanish – go in and choose Spanish and it will play in English,' said 5horizns, a tip that was echoed by a lot of fans. Although many worked out this hack, many didn't and just resigned themselves to watch the entire episode in a language they didn't understand. 'Exactly! Me too – just tweeted the same. However: I watched the damn thing in Spanish,' said sharonwaxman. The series stars Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Cynthia Nixon, and Christine Baranski and is set around the boom years of the 1880s in New York City. Carrie stars as one of the main characters, Bertha Russell, and had a hilarious reaction to the Spanish mix-up. '¿A todos les gustó mi acento? GildedAgeHBO #BerthaRussell☺️,' said Carrie on X. This translates to: 'Did everyone like my accent?' As she poked fun at the error. Fans have praised the most recent third season, which kicked off in mid-June and is available for UK viewers on Sky. More Trending The synopsis for the third season reads: 'Bertha sets her sights on a prize that would elevate the family to unimaginable heights while George risks everything on a gambit that could revolutionise the railroad industry — if it doesn't ruin him first.t 'Across the street, the Brook household is thrown into chaos as Agnes refuses to accept Ada's new position as lady of the house. As all of New York hastens toward the future, their ambition may come at the cost of what they truly hold dear.' View More » The Gilded Age season three is available to watch on Sky. Love Island icon's bombshell revelations about one finalist - 'Walking red flag of a man'

Montana Brown has dropped some very juicy information about Harry - moments before this year's Love Island final airs and the winners are crowned Love Island legend Montana Brown has 'spilled the tea' on this year's contestant Harry Cooksley moments before tonight's final airs on ITV. ‌ The 29-year-old took to TikTok to tell her 581,000 followers some very juicy info on the villa lothario, who is currently coupled up with Shakira Khan. Dishing the dirt on the 30-year-old footballer, the mum-of-two has claimed Harry was actually dating one of her friends right before he went on the dating show. ‌ Urging fans not to vote for the 'walking red flag of a man', she said on a video: "Guys, I've not been involved in the whole Love Island chat. But I know tonight is the final - so this is the tea, right. ‌ "Harry was literally seeing someone that I knew, one of my good friends, right before he went on Love Island. He wrote her a letter and said, 'Oh my gosh. I know you're going to be really surprised at this, but I still love you and, you know, we're going to be together. And I just need to sort my head out.' You know, all of this crap." Getting more worked up, Montana continued: "And now, I'm like, this guy cannot win! Although, I love Shakira. From what I've seen of her, she's incredible. "So I think we just have to think about - let's save Shakira and not let them win. Because he will just grab the money and run from what we know about him. So that's the tea from me." ‌ Revealing the excuse Harry gave her friend instead of being honest about going on Love Island, Montana added: "Also, he told my friend he was going to Bali. Need I say more?!" However, some fans questioned the timing of the video - and wished Montana had said something sooner. One commented: "Montana the vote opened yesterday - it's too late for this info!" ‌ Another wrote: "Too late, I already voted for Shakira!" A third asked: "Why is Montana only saying this now on the night of the final? She could have said it two months ago..." A fourth asked: "Didn't he write a letter to his ex Emma stating something similar before going on? She said she thought he meant he was going to rehab." A fifth jokingly asked: "How many love letters is this man going to write?" While a sixth posted: "This information needs to reach Shakira's mum." ‌ But others were still 'team Harry', with one Love Island fan saying: "Harry has made this season, he's an inspiration, he has to win." Another wrote: "Harry for the win!" A third observed: "I don't get all these stunning girls going for Harry lol, although past week he's kinda won me over a bit." Love Island's finale, which airs from 9pm tonight, looks set to be a belter. After weeks of drama under the Spanish sun, the four final couples will be treated to one last date before finding out who will be declared the winners - and waltz off with the £50,000 prize money. Host Maya Jama will be in charge of proceedings as Harry and Shakira battle it out against Yasmin Pettet and Jamie Rhodes, Angel Swift and Toni Laites and Cach Mercer to be crowned the 2025 winners. Harry and Shakira are currently favourites to win, according to bookies. This may surprise some viewers, especially as they are one of the newer couples to snuggle up after weeks of exploring other connections. But will people still vote for him after Montana's 'spill the tea' video...
