Hikers Discover Porsche Panamera Mysteriously Blocking Trail in the Middle of the Woods
Last Monday, a Facebook user named Kayley Clare posted on the Roxborough Rants & Raves Facebook page a picture of a blue Porsche Panamera in the middle of a woody trail in Philadelphia's Wissahickon Valley Park. With that post, the questions — and theories — began to pour in. Was someone trying to hide the car from the repo man? Was it stolen? Was it used in a crime and dumped there?
The Philadelphia Inquirer began to investigate, and discovered that despite the bizarre scene, nothing nefarious was going on. According to their reporting, the Panamera's 84-year-old driver made a series of wrong turns on Sunday night and wound up driving roughly a mile deep into the park, ending up on the Orange Trail before stopping and calling for help.
Obviously, the man made a big mistake. However, we can't help but be a little bit impressed. According to the Friends of the Wissahickon website, the Orange Trail has an average width of just three feet and a maximum obstacle height of 24 inches. The trail has an 11% grade and is made up of dirt and rock. The car, meanwhile, appears to be a 971-generation Panamera — a capable car for sure, but not the sort of vehicle you'd usually associate with off-roading of any sort, let alone the kind where many Land Rover drivers would hesitate to tread. The car was pulled off the trail on Tuesday, and a video of the rescue was shared on The Philadelphia Inquirer's social media channels In the clip, an ATV uses a winch to help pull the car along the trail, giving a sense of just how narrow the path is.
The driver is extremely embarrassed over the whole situation, according to the Inquirer. But thankfully, no injuries were reported, and no crime was committed. Now if you'll excuse us, this incident has us daydreaming about a 911 Dakar-style Panamera build...

Squeaky Tesla Cybertruck Prompts Buyback Request from Owner
The Tesla Cybertruck launched with more hype than most vehicles in recent memory. Years in the making and wrapped in stainless steel, it promised performance, durability, and an aggressive departure from conventional pickup design. But it's facing a problem – primarily, pricing. Even with the most affordable Long Range version costing over $70,000 before options and credits, demand has not met Tesla's lofty forecasts. Sales in the first half of the year are down significantly compared to the same period last year. And then, quality issues. Several have been reported, but there's one that's getting traction among Cybertruck owners: a persistent squeaking noise – something that's apparently difficult to fix. In posts to the Cybertruck Owners Only Facebook group, user HR CG described an ongoing issue with their vehicle involving squeaky noises from the front left pillar. The noise appeared to originate from the windshield area. First reported in June, HR CG said service centers attempted to resolve the issue but to no avail. Other Cybertruck owners in the group reported a similar issue – all are in contact with their respective service centers looking for a solution. "After spending a total of 50 days in service-including 40 consecutive days-Tesla still hasn't been able to fix a persistent squeaking noise. They've replaced parts, added insulation, and tried multiple approaches, but the issue remains," HR CG said. HR CG noted that Tesla service staff had been responsive, but the issue remained unresolved. In their latest post, a supposed message from the service staff claimed that they reassembled the electric vehicle, but the squeaky noise remains. HR CG is getting understandably frustrated with the situation, leading them to other solutions beyond repair. "At this point, I honestly hope Tesla will either give me a 2025 replacement or buy it back at the original price," HR CG said in the latest post. HR CG's experience is not isolated. Other Cybertruck owners across forums and Facebook groups have reported their vehicles spending weeks – sometimes over a month – in service. Common complaints include rattling panels, inconsistent trim alignment, malfunctioning tailgates, and defective glass. One Reddit user compiled a list of known problems from early units, including electrical issues and extensive NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) symptoms. Some have described their trucks as essentially undrivable due to unresolved problems, with others posting photos of Cybertrucks on flatbeds headed for service. While Tesla has historically improved build quality over time, early Cybertruck adopters appear to be bearing the brunt of initial teething issues. For some, the novelty may still outweigh the flaws. For others, like HR CG, patience is wearing thin. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Seven-Passenger Lucid Gravity Crushes The Quarter-Mile Quicker Than Its SUV Competition — And Most Supercars
Did you ever imagine living in a world where massive seven-seat crossovers and SUVs are faster than most of today's supercars? Well, folks, that's the world we're now living in. And, at the top of the mega-fast crossover game, we've got the Lucid Gravity Grand Touring Dream Edition. It just beat out competition like the Rivian R1S Quad, Porsche Macan EV Turbo and Audi RS Q8 Performance in Jason Cammisa's latest Ultimate Drag Race video for Hagerty. In the video, which also features the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid and Range Rover Sport SV, the Gravity Dream Edition with its 1,070 horsepower, 909 pound-feet of torque and 6,045 pounds of weight finished the quarter-mile sprint in just 10.5 seconds. That's the same as the Panamera and R1S, but crucially the Gravity was pulling nearly half a G when it crossed the line, and its 139 mph trap speed was 8 mph higher than the Panamera and 11 mph higher than the Rivian, the latter of which was pushing up on its 130-mph limiter. Behind those three vehicles were the Macan, which finished in 11 seconds at 124 mph, the RS Q8 at 11.6 seconds and 117 mph, and the Range Rover Sport SV with 11.9 seconds at 118 mph. Read more: 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ Is All About Big Numbers Mind-Bending Speed To put the Gravity's acceleration in perspective, we've got to look at supercars for speed benchmarks. Clearly, normal crossovers and SUVs won't cut it when it comes to this vehicle. Cammisa's 10.5-second quarter-mile time and 139-mph trap speed are identical to what he saw in the McLaren 750S. It's also quicker than the Corvette Z06, Ferrari F8, Bentley Continental GT Speed and Mercedes-AMG GT63 — all cars that he has tested in the past on the same track. That's bananas. To be fair to the other vehicles Cammisa tested it against, the Gravity Dream Edition makes a lot more power than most of them. The closest you'll find is the R1S Quad, which has 1,025 hp and 1,198 lb-ft of torque. Both of those SUVs make nearly double the Macan Turbo's 630 hp and 883 lb-ft of torque. The RS Q8 and Range Rover also lag behind, putting out 631 hp and 626 hp from their twin-turbo V8s, respectively. Finally, the Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid lays down a gnarly 771 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque, but it's still not enough to overcome the Gravity or the R1S Quad. We're living in a brave new world when it comes to EV crossover acceleration, and I don't expect it to change anytime soon. Want more like this? Germany's biggest carmaker suffers £1.1bn hit from Trump tariffs
Donald Trump's tariffs have dealt a €1.3bn (£1.1bn) blow to Volkswagen after the German car giant's portfolio of luxury brands suffered a drop in sales. Marques such as Porsche and Bentley have been hit by the US president's sanctions on foreign vehicles, which impose a 27.5pc tax on cars imported from Europe. Britain has struck a deal with Mr Trump to reduce the tariff to 10pc, but the larger penalty remains in place for the European Union, which is still locked in talks with the White House. On Friday, VW said the tariffs added €1.3bn to its costs in the first half of 2025 and that it could add billions more still, because there was no guarantee of a deal between Washington and Brussels. Oliver Blume, the carmaker's chief executive, said: 'We cannot assume that the tariff situation is only temporary. 'We are counting on the European Commission and the US government to reach a balanced outcome on the tariff issue.' VW's luxury brands have been hit the hardest by the levies, results published on Friday showed. Profits in the company's 'progressive' stable of marques, which includes Audi, Lamborghini and Bentley, halved in the first six months of the year, while the 'sports luxury' segment – which mainly consists of Porsche – tumbled by more than two thirds. That was after Porsche sales fell by 11pc to around 135,000 cars. 'High uncertainty' VW warned: 'There is high uncertainty about further developments with regard to the tariffs, their impact and any reciprocal effects.' This gloomy outlook has led to the company slashing its prediction for 2025 sales. It now expects no change from last year, compared to an earlier forecast of 5pc growth. The blow from tariffs comes at a difficult time for VW, which is already carrying out a major restructuring to cope with the transition to electric cars. It is cutting tens of thousands of jobs across the group and even contemplated shutting factories in Germany as part of the shake-up. At the same time, VW and other Western carmakers are haemorrhaging market share in China, where domestically made electric vehicles and hybrid manufacturers such as BYD are becoming increasingly dominant. These Chinese rivals are also embroiled in a cut-throat price war at home. The turmoil has been particularly painful for VW, which previously relied on China for one third of its sales and a substantial portion of its profits. As recently as 2019, the German giant controlled 20pc of the country's car market, but that has since fallen to 15pc. Broaden your horizons with award-winning British journalism.
