Crabby controversy: TikTok users roast woman for air frying live crabs
Image: TikTok
When it comes to cooking, the methods we choose can often stir more than just flavours, and as TikTok continues to be a platform for culinary experimentation, one video has sparked a wave of controversy.
A video of a woman cooking live crabs in an air fryer to prepare a seafood boil has sparked outrage and disgust on TikTok, with many users criticising her for her cooking method.
The video, which has been widely shared on the platform, shows content creator @contentwithcee placing the crabs in the air fryer basket.
The crabs can be heard making sounds as she seasoned them while they were still alive and kicking, which sent her comment section into a frenzy since the crabs' legs were still twitching.
'I used the fish setting cause it didn't have a crab setting, and I let them cook for about 15 minutes,' Chels explained in the video.
'Don't knock it till you try it. It was kinda sad watching them, kind of, you know, but these crabs came out so good and juicy,' she added.
The Atlantic blue crabs went into the air fryer still in their original state, blue, but as the video cuts to the cooking process, you can see them turn red.
As the video continues, she mentions that she will be putting her crabs in the air fryer moving forward since they came out well-cooked, ouch!

'Married by best friend': Inside Springbok Vincent Tshituka's wedding
Springbok Vincent Tshituka and his new wife Katlego Monare are sharing a look inside their wedding day, which took place over the weekend. The DRC-born rugby star and his influencer bride have been dating since 2022, when he 'slid into her DMs'. Earlier this month, Vincent made his green and gold debut against Italy at Loftus. This follows the Department of Home Affairs officially granting both him and his fellow rugby-playing brother Emmanuel Tshituka their smart ID cards. On their joint TikTok account, Vincent Tshituka and Katlego Monare – a North-West University graduate – have been sharing content about their wedding day. In one clip, the couple introduce themselves as Mr and Mrs Tshituka at their reception. Another shows Katlego putting the finishing touches on her strapless white wedding dress. The video's title was 'Took this before walking down the aisle to marry my best friend.' @vncnt_ktlg Content loading 🎥 ♬ original sound – V&K @vncnt_ktlg Took this before walking down the aisle to get married to my best friend 😍 #vinceandkatgetmarried ♬ what falling in love feels like x turning page – alex Later, Katlego changed into a champagne gown with a matching shawl. Vincent also wore two looks, a three-piece suit for his wedding ceremony and a more casual look for his reception. The couple also showed off their wedding entertainment – showing off their moves on the dance floor. 'One minute you're in her DMs, and the next moment you're dancing with your best friend at your wedding', read the sweet caption, written by Vincent Tshituka. @vncnt_ktlg Fairytales do exist! #love #wedding #husbandandwife #marriage #firstdance ♬ original sound – Mason Blake In November last year, Vincent Tshituka and Katlego Monare celebrated their lobola negotiations with a ceremony merging their Congolese and South African cultures. The Springbok also posted a screenshot of a DM he had sent to his partner in 2022. In it, the brazen rugby player stated his intentions to marry the beautiful woman. 'I'll come back to this in a couple of years to see', she jokingly responded. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 . I AM ME Summit calls South Africa to embrace true inclusion
The Marriot Hotel in Melrose Arch became a sanctuary of transformation as the I AM ME Summit unfolded on July 29 and 30. Organised by Modern Centric, the two-day gathering wasn't just an event; it was a deliberate, soul-stirring call for South Africa to reimagine what real inclusion looks and feels like. With a theme rooted in disruption and dignity, the summit brought together young voices, thought leaders, and changemakers, all committed to building a society where authenticity is not only welcomed, but sacred. It was a space that asked hard questions, honoured vulnerability, and created room for every identity, especially those long pushed to the margins. Also read: Reinstatement coming for corner of Louis Botha Avenue and Corlett Drive From mental health to global LGBTQI+ rights, intersectional justice to community healing, the summit tackled the layered realities of inequality. It didn't shy away from pain or past failures, but instead, used them as fuel to imagine a better, braver future. In a world often quick to judge or silence, I AM ME was a reminder that real change begins when we choose to listen, to care, and to show up, not just as allies, but as co-conspirators in the fight for justice.
