2025 Caravan Show at Pettycur Bay will be bigger than ever

Pettycur Bay Holiday Park has announced that its iconic Annual Caravan Show, a huge, community event, is set to return In May.
Taking place over the weekend of the 24th and 25th of May on the Kinghorn park, the event also showcases holiday home sales. Available to view will be an exciting new range of reasonable priced holiday homes for 2025, including models from leading manufacturers, Carnaby and Victory. The park also has a limited stock of new 2023, and 2024 caravans that will be offered with substantial discounts, along with a large selection of used, ready sited, caravans.
A packed weekend of activities and entertainment is lined up throughout the Annual Caravan Show Weekend, which provides an opportunity to come together and say thank you to existing local customers, holiday homeowners and general members of the public, from all across the area. The itinerary kicks off on the Friday evening with kid's entertainer, Magic Al, who is performing between 6-7.30pm, followed by The Frets, a Fife-based band, on stage between 8-11pm. On both Saturday & Sunday 11am-3pm, a BBQ will be held, along with face painting, a silent disco, candy floss, Uncle Billy, another of the park's popular children's entertainers, a Bouncy Castle, Rodeo bull, Magic Mirror, Games, coconut shy, stalls, craft & tombola.
Local charities, Guide Dogs for the Blind, together with the RNLI, will also be present, with Pettycur Bay currently fundraising to raise money to name a guide dog. Such has been the success of the fundraising over the past eighteen months, that the park is now on course to donate not one, but two dogs. The first dog has been named Tom, in memory of the late Thomas Wallace SNR, who unexpectantly passed away in January.
On the Saturday night, between 8-11pm, singing duo, China Blue, will perform, with Sunday evening's entertainment coming in the form of karaoke with the very popular Chris Wainright, between 7-10pm.
'We are absolutely delighted once again to pull out all the stops to come up with a weekend of free, quality entertainment, and attractions, suitable for all the family,' said Janet Murray, General Manager. 'The caravan show is always a real calendar highlight for us all on the park. We love to see the whole community turning out for this.'
'But most importantly, this is our biggest and best local day of the year, and a fantastic fundraiser to boot for our designated house charities.
'We look forward to welcoming everybody to this year's caravan show.'

Happy couples flock to ‘Las Vegas of Europe' to get married but locals aren't happy

One hotspot is seeing a rise in the number of non-resident couples getting married but locals aren't necessarily happy about the influx of newlyweds Confronted with tangled red tape back home in Poland, Magdalena Kujawińska and her Colombian partner Heinner Valenzuela made the journey to Copenhagen to tie the knot. ‌ "We realised that it's not that easy to get married in Poland," the 30 year old Kujawińska explained whilst the pair awaited their 10-minute ceremony at the Danish capital's 19th-century City Hall. "You need a certificate that you are not married. We tried to get it from Colombia, but it's only valid for three months, and it couldn't get to Poland from Colombia in three months. It was just impossible for us," she explained. ‌ The pair, who reside in Krakow, had been betrothed for over three years when Kujawińska learnt about Denmark's comparatively straightforward marriage regulations from a work colleague. Collaborating with an online wedding coordinator, the duo organised the required paperwork. They spoke of their big day after couples in the UK revealed their dream honeymoon destination. ‌ "And in four days, we had the decision that the marriage could be done here," a beaming Kujawińska revealed. Couples who aren't Danish residents, including both mixed- and same-sex partnerships, are flocking to the Scandinavian nation in growing numbers to wed - leading some to brand Copenhagen the "Las Vegas of Europe." ‌ Anita Okkels Birk Thomsen, who heads the marriage department at Copenhagen City Hall, revealed that approximately 8,000 wedding ceremonies took place there last year. Among these, roughly 5,400 involved couples where neither person was a Danish resident. "That's almost double what we saw five years ago," she noted. "They come from all over the world." But the city recognises a drawback to this popularity: demand for ceremonies at City Hall now vastly outstrips the number of available appointments. Mia Nyegaard, the Copenhagen official overseeing culture and leisure, told The Associated Press that the "significant rise" in foreign couples tying the knot in the capital "poses challenges for Copenhagen-based couples wishing to get married." Local officials are planning intervention measures. Nyegaard revealed that roughly 40% of wedding appointments at City Hall will be set aside for Copenhagen residents from late October onwards. Whilst securing an appointment there remains the most straightforward route to marriage in the city, couples can alternatively organise ceremonies through private registrars, which won't face restrictions. ‌ Copenhagen councillors will examine additional measures after the summer recess to ease the overall strain on the city's wedding capacity. Denmark's matrimonial legislation is progressive in numerous respects. In 1989, the nation pioneered global recognition of same-sex civil partnerships. Full same-sex marriage rights were established in 2012. For all types of unions, Denmark - unlike numerous other European nations - doesn't demand birth certificates or evidence of single status to secure documentation permitting marriage within Denmark over a four-month period. Authorities may occasionally request civil status certificates when divorce documentation fails to clearly demonstrate finalised proceedings. Tying the knot in Denmark has become a breeze for international lovebirds, with the country's family law agency processing applications at a snappy pace and a fee of 2,100 kroner ($326), delivering a marriage certificate within five working days, provided couples meet the criteria. ‌ For those not residing in Denmark, a simple passport and, if necessary, a tourist visa are all that's needed to get hitched in the Scandinavian haven. "We get that thing like, 'Are you sure we do not need a birth certificate?' And we go, 'Yes,'" shares Rasmus Clarck Sørensen, the brains behind Getting Married in Denmark. Clarck Sørensen, a native Dane, launched the matrimonial service with his British partner in 2014, recognising the growing trend of international romances. "In the last 20, 30 years, people just meet more across borders," he observes. "Marriage rules are often made for two people of the same country getting married." He points out how outdated regulations can ensnare couples: "They kind of piled on patches onto marriage law, and a lot of people get trapped in those patches." His firm offers a "Complete Service" package for 875 euros ($1,014), which covers document collection, application processing, and ceremony scheduling. Last year alone, the company assisted over 2,600 duos in saying 'I do'. Copenhagen, Denmark's largest city and transport hub, tops the list as the most sought-after wedding locale, currently the only city feeling the pinch from high demand. However, any potential tweaks to Copenhagen's policies won't affect the blissful Kujawińska and Valenzuela, who have turned their attention to party planning in Poland with their nearest and dearest. "It means a lot for us because we've been waiting a lot for this," Kujawińska said. "We're really happy."

Ruth Carr fan lands amazing £96,000 bet on day to remember for Yorkshire trainer

The Coral customer from Huddersfield put four of the trainer's runners in a £1 Lucky 15 which all won, including a 28-1 winner at Goodwood A fan of Yorkshire trainer Ruth Carr has collected £96,000 after pulling off an extraordinary accumulator bet featuring four of her horses. ‌ Stillington-based Carr sent five runners to the races on Tuesday, three to Beverley and two to Sussex for the opening day of the Glorious Goodwood Festival. Not only did four of them win, including Brazen Bolt at odds of 28-1 in the valuable Shaker Handicap, but a Coral customer from Huddersfield had included the horses in a £1 Lucky 15. ‌ Star Start got the bet under way by dead-heating in the first leg at Beverley, then Brazen Bolt scored under Warren Fentiman, before Joanna Mason rode a double for the stable on Jojo Rabbit and King Sharja at Beverley. The betting shop punter's total winnings came to £96,052.50. ‌ 'Our punter from Huddersfield is clearly a big Ruth Carr fan, and their confidence in the Yorkshire-based trainer paid dividends on Tuesday, as they scooped just over 96k after including all four winners in a Lucky 15,' said Coral's John Hill. 'Carr's biggest-priced winner came at Glorious Goodwood, with Brazen Bolt struck in the sprint handicap at odds of 28-1. It was a day to remember for the trainer, and arguably an even bigger day for the Huddersfield-based customer.' Carr said: 'Well done that person. I'm pretty sure we haven't had a four-timer before. It takes some doing. You never go down into a big sprint handicap down south at a Festival meeting full of confidence. 'But the horse had been in good form, his back form was there as well. We took a valuable 5lb off, he got a straightforward ride and the old boy got the job done.' Don't miss a FREE £2 William Hill shop bet inside your Mirror every day of Glorious Goodwood Festival Pick up your Mirror every day of the Goodwood festival to get your hands on 12 page pullouts packed with insight from the punters you trust, plus FREE William Hill shop bets every day of the festival from Tuesday July 29 until Saturday August 2, 2025. Find out more here. Carr did not travel to Goodwood for, preferring Beverley, where she has now trained eight winners in 2025. 'It's a long way and there are 40 other horses at home to train,' she said. 'I rode out and then went to Beverley which is just up the road. 'The horses are healthy and we appear to be getting in the right races. Luck is going our way and sometimes somebody else's bad luck is your good luck and we seem to be getting plenty of the good luck at the moment.'
