LBS Bina's 'Makan Angin Lokal' campaign achieves RM537mil in bookings

KUALA LUMPUR: LBS Bina Group Bhd, a prominent property developer with a strong commitment to people-first values, recently celebrated the success of its 'Makan Angin Lokal with LBS' campaign, which achieved a remarkable RM537 million in total bookings.
Running from October 1 to December 31, 2024, the campaign was designed to reward buyers who completed their sale and purchase agreements and loan agreements and met all the necessary campaign requirements.
The bookings were largely driven by demand in key hotspots like Selangor (Cybersouth, Seri Kembangan, Puchong) and Johor (Molek), with a significant portion of interest coming from first-time homebuyers, further reinforcing LBS's reputation for offering value-driven, highly sought-after developments.
A total of 19 projects nationwide, including flagship developments like KITA @ Cybersouth, D'Island Residence, Prestige Residence, Centrum Iris, and Bayu Hills, participated in the campaign, showcasing LBS's strong market presence across Malaysia.
As part of the rewards, LBS unveiled its grand prize winners, who collectively received hotel vouchers worth up to RM250,000. Winners can redeem these exclusive vouchers at premier hotels in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Penang, and Johor — offering them the perfect opportunity to enjoy memorable local vacations.
The campaign culminated in a vibrant grand finale at the Raya KITA Fest, hosted at the LBS Discovery Gallery at KITA @ Cybersouth. The highlight of the day was the prize presentation ceremony, where LBS executive director Datuk Cynthia Lim personally handed over mock cheques to the jubilant winners.

"This campaign is our way of expressing heartfelt appreciation to our customers while spreading joy and excitement throughout the LBS community," Datuk Cynthia Lim, executive director of LBS, said.
"As a developer deeply rooted in community values, we take great pride in adding festive cheer for our esteemed customers and the broader LBS family," she said in a statement.
This initiative also aligns with the developer's Three-Year 8 x 8 Strategy, particularly its focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience — ensuring that every interaction is personalised, seamless, and meaningful, Lim added.
In line with the Malaysian government's push to promote domestic tourism, LBS's rewards aim to encourage homeowners to explore Malaysia's rich heritage while appreciating their trust and support.
"We hope these rewards inspire homeowners to explore the richness of Malaysia's heritage while serving as a token of our appreciation for their trust and support."
The festive event attracted over 200 guests, including LBS Perks & Plusses partners, campaign winners, potential buyers, and local community members.
The celebration was filled with festive spirit, unity, and joy, highlighted by a free concert featuring popular local artists Naim Daniel, Iman Troye, and Zarul Umbrella, all brought together by LBS in a special Hari Raya celebration.
To further elevate the experience, LBS's trusted partners — EON, Watsons, HWC Coffee, and Coway — added to the excitement with interactive booths and activities, ensuring a dynamic and engaging experience for everyone.

Paragon Globe eyes strong growth from industrial, residential segments

PETALING JAYA: Johor-based property developer Paragon Globe Bhd is positioning itself for sustained growth in the industrial and residential sectors, supported by strategic projects and the state's buoyant economic prospects, following a record-breaking financial performance in its recently concluded financial year. For the financial year ended March 31, 2025, Paragon Globe achieved a net profit of RM105.6 million, reversing the previous year's net loss of RM1.2 million. Revenue surged to RM306.3 million from RM51 million the year before, primarily driven by strategic land disposals and robust industrial property sales. Paragon Globe executive chairman Datuk Seri Edwin Tan Pei Seng said the strong performance was largely attributable to a RM337.3 million disposal of 67.6 acres of industrial land at Desa Cemerlang to Bridge Data Centres. 'Apart from strategic land sales, we experienced high demand for industrial developments at Pekan Nenas, significantly contributing to our earnings,' he added. 'Looking ahead, our growth will be underpinned by residential launches such as Calia Residences and The Iconic at Stulang Laut, along with continued industrial projects.' Paragon Globe recently opened its flagship RM10 million PGB Experience Gallery in Johor Bahru, aimed at enhancing customer engagement and centralising sales activities across its diverse project portfolio. Tan highlighted the strategic advantage of Paragon Globe's industrial projects – Desa 27 and Desa 100 – which are ideally located to leverage the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ). These projects have attracted prominent multinational tenants, including Hunter Amenities International and Meiban Technologies. Despite global economic uncertainties, Tan expressed optimism about Johor's property sector, buoyed by initiatives such as the JS-SEZ and the Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link. 'PGB remains committed to resilience, diversification, and sustainability, positioning ourselves to adapt swiftly and effectively to market changes,' Tan said. On shareholder returns, he said the company was actively reviewing its capital allocation strategy, including the possible introduction of a structured dividend policy, balancing prudent reinvestments with shareholder rewards. 'Despite global economic uncertainties, we remain optimistic about Johor's property market outlook, driven by sustained regional growth initiatives. PGB remains committed to resilience, diversification, and sustainability, positioning ourselves to adapt swiftly and effectively to market changes,' concluded Tan.

Dakata Youth Cooperative a model for sustainable community entrepreneurship

Ewon releases tilapia fish fry into the pond during the project visit. PENAMPANG (July 15): Koperasi Pembangunan Dakata Sabah Berhad (DAKATA) has received RM100,000 under the SejaTi Madani Programme to carry out a tilapia fish farming project in Kampung Kiranau Inobong. The allocation, channelled through the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister's Department, is being supervised by ANGKASA Sabah, which is also overseeing the project's implementation. Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, Datuk Ewon Benedick, praised the cooperative — which is led by youth — as an exemplary model for young people nationwide, especially in Sabah, to venture into business through cooperatives. 'I am proud to see this cooperative run by young people. This aligns with the government's aspiration to foster greater youth involvement in the cooperative movement,' he said. Ewon made the remarks during a visit to the project site, accompanied by representatives from the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) and ANGKASA Sabah. Established just last year, DAKATA is not only involved in fish farming but also engages in ginger and chilli cultivation using fertigation methods, in addition to offering homestay services. 'The ministry will continue to support youth cooperatives like Koperasi Dakata so they can grow and contribute meaningfully to the state and national economy. I hope this initiative inspires more youth to see cooperatives as platforms for income generation and community empowerment,' he said. As the Member of Parliament for Penampang, Ewon also presented contributions from his parliamentary allocation to two other cooperatives: RM20,000 to Koperasi Putaton Jaya Berhad and RM10,000 to Koperasi Tampasak Berhad to support their business activities. 'This is part of the commitment I made during Koperasi Putaton Jaya's AGM. I want to see village cooperatives continue to grow and benefit their members,' he added. Meanwhile, DAKATA chairman Michael Fadilah Raio expressed his gratitude to the government, Ewon, SKM and ANGKASA for their continued support. 'With the help of the SejaTi Madani Programme, we can help our members generate income and plan to expand the project further to benefit more people,' he said. Michael also encouraged more youth in Sabah to pursue entrepreneurship through the cooperative model, which he described as a sustainable and collective income-generating platform.

Malaysia urges stronger Asean training ties to future-proof regional workforce

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has called on Asean nations to intensify collaboration in skills development to ensure the region's workforce remains competitive, adaptable and inclusive. This was the central message delivered at the Asean Training Market Conference (ATMC) 2025 in Berjaya Times Square Hotel today, where more than 600 delegates, including training providers, employers, policymakers and experts from across the region gathered to strengthen the region's training supply ecosystem. Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Sri Abdul Rahman Mohamad, who officiated the event, said that Asean's economic future hinges on its ability to train and retrain workers in response to disruption from automation, artificial intelligence, the digital economy and the green transition. "To transform our economies, we must first change how we train our people. We can no longer afford to teach yesterday's skills for tomorrow's jobs," he said. The ATMC, one of seven flagship events under Malaysia's Asean Chairmanship and the Asean Year of Skills (AYOS) 2025, is positioned as a key platform for aligning regional training efforts with emerging labour market needs. "We need training ecosystems that are digitally enabled, industry-led and forward-looking not just in one country, but across the region," said Rahman. HRD Corp chairman Datuk Abu Huraira Abu Yazid said there was a need to reform training systems and ensure access across all sectors, especially for women, youth, persons with disabilities and informal workers. "This is not just another conference. It is a deliberate step towards reforming how training is designed, delivered and scaled in Asean," he said. Abu Huraira added that HRD Corp, which oversaw over 50,000 trainers and a wide range of certified programmes in Malaysia, was committed to sharing its experiences while learning from counterparts in the region. "Let this be the start of concrete actions that translate into new frameworks, cross-border cooperation and a more unified Aseantraining ecosystem," he added. Themed "Empowering Asean's Training Supply: Bridging Skills Gap, Innovation and Collaboration for a Future-Ready Economy", the conference tackled issues including credential recognition, modular training design, public-private partnerships and industry co-creation. Regional experts also lent their perspectives, including Dr Markus Bernhardt, Learning and Development Strategist for the AI-Powered Workforce; Yue Yean Feng from IBM Asia-Pacific; and Mary Kent from the International Labour Organization (ILO), underscoring the need for inclusive, responsive and collaborative human capital strategies. Secretary-General of the Human Resources Ministry Datuk Azman Yusoff and HRD Corp chief strategy officer Dr Rony Ambrose Gobilee were also present. Earlier this year, the National Training Week recorded 3.7 million participants and offered over 73,000 free courses, with participation opened to Asean countries for the first time. Upcoming regional efforts under AYOS 2025 include the Asean TVET Conference, the Global Skills Forum and the Asean Forum of Manpower Ministers.
