Coveted five-star offensive lineman says Ohio State and Texas are the \

USA Today5 days ago

Any coach in America will tell you that football games are won and lost in the trenches. That simple truth makes recruiting offensive and defensive linemen a priority, and Ohio State is in a battle for one of the top offensive tackles in the country.
Felix Ojo is the No. 1 tackle in the country according to 247Sports. The Texas native has been making his rounds this summer to places like Michigan, Florida, Ole Miss, as well as the in-state Longhorns, but there are two programs Ojo says are neck and neck. Texas has long been favored in this race, but the Buckeyes have closed the gap and are pushing hard for a commitment from the coveted lineman.
After Ojo finished his summer camp visits, Rivals recruiting analyst Sam Spiegelman gave a crystal ball prediction for Ojo to stay in the Lone Star State, saying, "There is a sense that Texas closed strong on this official visit and left a big enough impression on the elite OT ahead of his July commitment," Spiegelman said. "There is a strong sense that Ojo won't leave the state to play college football."
Not so fast, my friend. Ojo is in Indianapolis this week for the Rivals Five-Star Challenge, where Spiegelman had a chance to follow up with the prized recruit, and it sounds like the decision isn't going to be that cut and dry.
When asked about where his recruiting status stands, Ojo said, "I'd really say Texas and Ohio State (lead). Really just the atmosphere. The culture. Not only that. The opportunity to play early. I'd really say those two schools have really been pushing me throughout the recruiting process. Those are ultimately the two schools that are the biggest factor in my recruitment right now."
He'd go on to talk about how close the race is between both programs and what will be the final factor, stating, "I'd say right now with the race, I'd say it's pretty even. I'd say there's no clear-cut leader right now. I'd say the decision will be made in the next couple of weeks. It really just depends." He finished by adding, "Really just seeing where the best fit for me and my family is. Really seeing what the future has in store for me."
That's great news for Ryan Day and Ohio State. While Texas may still hold a slight lead being the home state team, the Buckeyes are really making an impression. It would be a massive win to get the young man to leave home, but it seems the Bucks are in as good a position as they could possibly be at this point, and it sounds like we'll have a decision sooner rather than later.

Ryder Lyons Turns Heads With Major Exposure For BYU Decision

Ryder Lyons Turns Heads With Major Exposure For BYU Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports. BYU Football made a monumental splash on the recruiting trail Tuesday by snagging five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons. The Folsom (California) signal-caller is the highest-rated recruit in program history. Lyons chose BYU over national powers, including Oregon and USC. Advertisement The announcement came live on ESPN's 'The Pat McAfee Show,' sending shockwaves through the recruiting world. Lyons became the first five-star prospect to commit to BYU since 247Sports began ranking recruits in 2010. He is also the No. 13 overall player and No. 4 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. 'They were the first ones to offer me, back in eighth grade,' Lyons said on the show. 'They believed in me early. It's crazy how it all comes full circle.' McAfee is known for his energetic commentary and praised Lyons' maturity and leadership. 'You're a beast,' he said. 'The way you spin it, the way you run and lead your team. It's why every college in the country wants you.' Advertisement Lyons won't be in Provo until 2027 and plans to serve an LDS mission before enrolling at BYU. He spoke candidly about navigating the complexities of NIL opportunities at a young age. He already has an agent and a full support team who navigates every move. 'It's confusing,' Lyons admitted. 'You're thrown a lot of money from a lot of different places. But you've got to stay humble. The goal is to make it to the NFL. That's where the real money is.' McAfee tipped his cap to Lyons' perspective. 'He's like a 45-year-old,' McAfee said. 'He gets it. He's mature enough to handle the attention and the pressure.' Advertisement Lyons also discussed his plans to submit mission paperwork in August. McAfee reflected on his past conversations with former BYU star Austin Collie, his teammate on the Indianapolis Colts, about LDS missions and culture. 'I believe it's a huge honor... A calling from God,' McAfee said. Lyons responded, 'That is it.' Michigan football picks up prediction for standout 4-star WR

The post Michigan football picks up prediction for standout 4-star WR appeared first on ClutchPoints. A big area of concern for the Michigan football team last year was the wide receiver position. The Wolverines struggled offensively, and not having the right talent there was a big reason why. Advertisement Michigan is trying to change that in the 2026 class, and one of its top targets is four-star Zion Robinson. Robinson is one of the top WRs in the class, and he was recently predicted to land with the Wolverines. '2026 4-star WR Zion Robinson has been predicted to Michigan by 247sports Sam Webb,' uofmcoverage said in a post. Michigan and Miami seem to be in the best shape with Zion Robinson, but Stanford and Nebraska are recruiting him hard as well. He has not set a commitment date yet. This would be a big recruiting win for head coach Sherrone Moore and his staff. Robinson is a four-star recruit, according to 247Sports. He is the #71 player in the 2026 class, the #6 WR and the #10 player in the state of Texas. Robinson currently attends Mansfield High School in Mansfield, TX. Michigan is pretty far away from home. Advertisement 'Tall outside target pushing 6-foot-3 with excellent multi-sport athletic context in basketball and track and field,' Robinson's scouting report reads. 'More polished pass catchers are out there but very few boast this combination of above-the-rim hardwood context, a state championship high jump gold medal, and corresponding high-level athleticism in pads. Frame and explosion foster contested-catch dominance.' Robinson is good enough to be a major impact player at Michigan, and he has pro potential as well. 'Displays sneaky run-after-catch effectiveness relative to frame and straight-line top-end gear,' his scouting report continues. 'Shows adequate acceleration that times requires a build-up runway, but leads to breakaway long speed. Advertisement 'Still developing hands consistency and route technique, but showed encouraging signs during junior season and Spring 2025 elite camp evaluation. A particularly high-ceiling outside receiver prospect who could become an impact player in college with long-term pro potential.' The Michigan football team is in position to land a commitment from Zion Robinson. Now, the coaching staff has to find a way to close the deal. The Michigan football team picked up a huge commitment on Wednesday as four-star wide receiver Zion Robinson announced that he will play for the Wolverines. Michigan has had trouble landing elite WRs in past years, but head coach Sherrone Moore and WR coach Ron Bellamy did not miss here. Robinson picked the Wolverines over Miami and Stanford.
