TVK chief Vijay slams DMK, says ‘publicity sarkar has transformed into sorry model sarkar,'
Addressing TVK's protest rally here, Vijay said the custodial torture victim Ajith Kumar hailed from an ordinary family and the chief minister apologised to the victim's family and it is appropriate.
Clad in black, Vijay held a placard that read, 'Sorry Vendam, Needhi Vendum (We want justice, not sorry).' The TVK chief asked whether 'Stalin said sorry' to the families of all the 24 victims of alleged custodial torture (which resulted in deaths) during the DMK regime, since 2021.
'Please say sorry to them all; also, did you give solatium to the families of all the 24 victims? Please provide solatium to them as well,' he said.
When the then AIADMK regime transferred the Sathankulam case (in which P Jeyaraj and his son J Benniks were allegedly tortured to death by police in 2020), Stalin had said that it was an insult to Tamil Nadu police, Vijay claimed.
The fledgling party's chief wondered if the DMK government, which days ago transferred the Ajith Kumar custodial death case to the CBI, has not caused the same insult and added that both instances were only the same.
Further, Vijay asked, 'Why are you hiding behind the CBI?', which happens to be only the puppet of the RSS and the BJP. It was because his party, the TVK has sought a court-monitored probe by a special investigation team and 'fearing' such a move, the DMK regime is hiding behind the union government.
The court has questioned the state government on several cases of 'atrocities', including Anna varsity girl student sexual assault and Ajith Kumar custodial torture.
'If the court has to intervene and ask questions for everything, then why are you there? what is the purpose of the government? and the office of the chief minister? Whatever may be the questions, there are not going to be any answers. The government may provide answers only if it had answers and it does not have any answers in this regard, he alleged.
'The maximum reply from you is sorry and the empty, publicity-model DMK sarkar has now got transformed into a sorry model sarkar,' he alleged, mocking at the DMK government.
Before the end of the 'inept DMK government's tenure,' it has to set right the law and order situation. Else, by joining forces with the people, 'we will make you do it,' Vijay said.
'Sarkar' (government) is a popular Vijay-starrer movie that was released in 2018.

In an intra party clash, police register case against three DMK functionaries in Mudukulathur
Mudukulathur police have registered a case against three DMK functionaries for getting into a brawl over an alleged tender issue. According to the police, at a private hall at Mudukulathur on Saturday, Minister for Forests and Khadi R. S. Rajakannappan's office assistant Tony, 35, was making arrangements for the 'Oraniyil Tamil Nadu' event's preparatory meeting. At that time, Kadaladi DMK South Union Secretary Mayakrishnan, Union Youth Wing organiser Muralidharan, entered the hall and got into a fight with Tony. As it turned into a brawl, the three started hitting each other. Tony sustained injuries on his neck and was admitted to the Mudukulathur government hospital. Police sources said the fight was over a dispute in allocating tender in Mudukulathur constituency. Following complaint from both sides, police registered case against the three men. Waste to electricity plant may come up at dump yard
Trichy: The govt has initiated preliminary work to expand waste-to-electricity plants to major cities in the state including Coimbatore, Madurai, and Trichy, said municipal administration minister K N Nehru on Sunday. In Trichy, it will be considered at Ariyamangalam dump yard. He said the govt is exploring an option to retrieve plastic waste from dump yards and utilize it in road construction. "Waste mounds in dump yards in major cities that have accumulated for over five decades are being cleared using a biomining method. The waste-to-electricity plant introduced in Chennai will be expanded to other cities as a long-term solution in another 3-4 years," Nehru told reporters on the sidelines of Oraniyil Tamil Nadu campaign held in E Pudur to add new members to DMK. He said no new infrastructure projects are viable in the 47-acre Ariyamangalam dump yard for the next 15 years except for public parks since the subsurface has accumulated plastic waste for decades. Responding to a question about his constituency, Trichy West, cornering a lion's share of new projects, Nehru said all 65 wards in the city are treated equally. On opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami's remarks about Rs 1,000 monthly assistance provided to women in the state, Nehru said, "We (DMK) introduced the scheme to provide financial assistance to women heads of the family. Who is he (Palaniswami) to say that people will not get the assistance? We will conduct more camps to continue and expand the coverage. "
