David Beckham's 'favourite meal' is very unusual thanks to one ingredient
David Beckham is keen to show he's still a man of simple tastes. Despite having a whopping £400m fortune in the bank, the ex-England skipper previously said one of his favourite meals was a classic ham, egg and chips.
However, as we previously revealed, it came with some very controversial additions. The footballing legend, who turns 50 today (May 2, posted a snap of the meal to Instagram.
He accompanied it with the caption: "Last night's feast one of my favourites growing up. Thanks mum. Gammon, chips, fried egg, tinned pineapple, peas and baked beans, coleslaw."
Diving into the comments, one fan said: "Pineapple does not belong on a main meal." While another was flabbergasted: "Coleslaw and mushy peas? Has everyone gone berserk?"
But, supporting Becks' food choice, a fan said: "Perfectly acceptable dinner. Egg goes well with gammon, coleslaw with pineapple, chips with peas."
Health benefits of pineapples
Pineapple contains plenty of antioxidants and digestive enzymes that may support gut health. Canned pineapple has a large amount of vitamin C, which can boost the immune system and maintain healthy skin.
In fact, according to Live Strong, one cup provides 21% of your daily needs of the vitamin. But there are things to be wary of when opting for the tinned fruit variety rather than the actual fruit.
Some canned pineapple is preserved in sugar-sweetened syrup, which could prove an issue for people with blood sugar conditions such as type 2 diabetes. You should consult a doctor if you have such issues before adding canned pineapple or fresh pineapple to your diet in large quantities.
The Beckhams' other food favourites
While having some pineapple next to beans, eggs and chips may seem strange to many, it does come with its own health benefits.
David's culinary preferences starkly contrast with those of his stylish wife, Victoria.
Former Spice Girl 'Posh Spice', Victoria sticks to a regimented menu of grilled fish and steamed veggies to stay slender. Although David, a fitness enthusiast himself, has a taste more aligned with your everyday Brit.
Even with access to the world's most exclusive eateries, he claims nothing tops crisps and a hearty baked bean toastie. On the River Cafe Table 4 podcast earlier this year, David was prompted to reveal his comfort food picks. "After talking about all of this great food and all of these great restaurants I go to, my comfort food is a packet of salt and vinegar Discos," he confessed.
"And maybe a toastie made in the Brevile toaster with baked beans." David went on to detail his method for creating this simple yet satisfying dish: "I put the bread in – Hovis.
"A little bit of butter on the outside so it doesn't stick. I put the baked beans in, toast it for four or five minutes, and open it up. No cheese. That and a packet of Discos. I'm more of a crisp man than a chocolate."

Brit boat passenger, 75, drowns after vessel stops to let passengers swim during tour of Greek island coast
A British tourist has died after drowning while swimming during a boat trip on the Greek island of Kefalonia. The 75-year-old was pulled from the sea unconscious after going for a swim on Ammoudi Beach on Wednesday morning. The Brit was on a tourist boat which stopped at the beach to let passengers swim. He dived into the sea before fellow passengers noticed he was unconscious, pulling him back onto the boat. The man was given first aid on board and the vessel returned to the Port of Fiskardo. He was later taken to the Sami Health Center in Kefalonia before being pronounced dead, according to Kefalonia Magazine. The Fiskardo Port Station are currently investigating to find out the exact cause of his death. The tragedy comes just days after another British man, 74, was found dead on his sun lounger in Crete. The Brit, who had taken himself to the beach in a bid to enjoy the idyllic sea, went for a swim before sitting on a sun lounger to relax. However, he then became struck with a 'strong feeling' of sickness before losing consciousness. Hellenic National Center of Emergency Care (EKAB) were immediately made aware of the incident and called to the scene. Emergency services then worked tirelessly in a desperate bid to revive the elderly man, but unfortunately their efforts proved unsuccessful. The cause of his death is currently unknown, with an autopsy being undertaken. An FCDO Spokesperson said: 'We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Greece and are in contact with the local authorities.' It follows a series of deaths of British tourists on beaches in popular tourist hotspots, with a British tourist also found dead on a Greek beach just last month.

Katie Price, 47, reveals what has got her through her 'painful' bum filler treatment after suffering 'inflammation'
Katie Price has revealed what has got her through her 'painful' bum filler treatment as she opened up in a new video on Instagram on Thursday. The former glamour model, 47, who recently shared a video revealing she was having filler in her bottom, has now shared an update two days later after suffering with 'pain' and 'inflammation'. Katie revealed that a bottle of CBD has been helping her 'get through' the awful time as she admitted that 'sitting on my bum' is causing her pain. Katie said: 'Bum filler update. As you can see I did a photoshoot today with Kerry and what got me through it was my CBD. 'Let me tell you why, I had my bum done two days ago and I've been feeling a bit uncomfortable in that area. 'So I've been taking this today to help with the pain and inflammation and at night sleeping. So it's been my best friend. 'So yeah, I've always said if anyone struggles with sleep, anxiety or pain this in my opinion is the way forward. 'What would I do without it, I know I'm going to have a goodnight sleep again tonight cause I'm going to put some drops in it and remember when you order this shake it load before taking it 'So yeah this has been a godsend because I got the train up and where I'm sitting on my bum walking and all of this, this has been a godsend, CBD oil all the way.' CBD oil, a cannabis-based product, particularly helps pain relief, anxiety reduction, and improved sleep but they are not licensed medicinal products and are not regulated for safety and quality. Katie captioned the post by gushing that the oil has been a 'massive help with her bum filler' and she is 'feeling more comfortable'. She wrote: 'Forgot to post this yesterday after the shoot but wow did I need my @supremecbd I've been so busy recently that I have been taking my oil out and about with me in my bag for if I get anxious or if I need to take a second to myself and calm down. 'Also it has been a massive help with the bum filler! I definitely do feel more comfortable after taking it and I sleep better. 'If anyone struggles with sleep, anxiety, aches or pains, fibromyalgia the list goes on! Give this a go you WILL NOT regret it'. Earlier this week, Katie returned from holiday in Dubai and headed straight to the beauticians for lip filler and bum filler. Sharing a video from the clinic, she said: 'I'm having filler done in my lips not to much though and having my bum done and after I'm getting the train back and taking Harvey to his new place.' The TV star went on to list the benefits of filler rather than undergoing a 'dangerous' BBL in Turkey. She continued: 'See if I had a BBL in Turkey they'd put me to sleep and it's more dangerous cause they use your own fat and this is just filler and I'm here for an hour and a half and go back home and carry on with my day.' Showing off her lips, she added: 'See I've not had my lips done to big today, gone a bit more classy'. In another clip, the star lay on the beautician bed showing off the results of the filler in her bottom as she wore a pink lace thong. She joked: 'BBL on your lunch hour'. Katie - who has previously admitted she suffers with body dysmorphia - is believed to have spent over £130k on cosmetic surgery over the years, with the model saying she has no plans to slow down. What is CBD? According to the NHS: Many cannabis-based products are available to buy online, but their quality and content is not known. They may be illegal in the UK and potentially dangerous. Some products that might claim to be medical cannabis, such as CBD oil or hemp oil, are available to buy legally as food supplements from health stores. But there's no guarantee these are of good quality or provide any health benefits. Depending on the type of medical cannabis you take, it's possible to develop side effects such as: - decreased appetite - diarrhoea - feeling sick - weakness - a behavioural or mood change - dizziness- feeling very tired - feeling high - hallucinations - suicidal thoughts If you experience any side effects from medical cannabis, report these to your medical team. You can also report them through the Yellow Card Scheme. CBD and THC can affect how other medicines work. Always discuss possible interactions with a specialist. CBD can also affect how your liver works, so doctors would need to monitor you regularly.

Why you should think twice about hugging lambs this summer
Health officials have issued a warning against kissing, cuddling, or holding lambs due to an outbreak of cryptosporidiosis. Cryptosporidiosis is a severe parasitic infection that causes serious gastrointestinal illness, with symptoms including watery diarrhoea and stomach pains. Public Health Wales has advised farmers to prevent close contact between visitors and lambs this summer to curb the spread; people should also wash their hands after contact with animals. The alert follows an investigation into 74 cases of cryptosporidium linked to a petting farm in Vale of Glamorgan earlier this year, which led to 16 hospitalisations, including a four-year-old boy. There were also 17 outbreaks of the infection connected to farms across England and Wales in the previous year.
