Supportive parents Wayne and Coleen Rooney watch their son Kai, 15, play for Manchester United in the Super Cup NI as he follows in his father's footballing footsteps

Wayne and Coleen Rooney were every inch the supportive parents as they watched their son Kai play for Manchester United in the 2025 Super Cup NI.
The Rooneys travelled to Coleraine, Northern Ireland, to stand pitchside and watch Kai, 15, play in the youth football tournament, which kicked off on Sunday.
The married couple also took their younger sons - Kit, eight, and Cass, six - to watch their older brother in action ahead of Man United's match against Co Tyrone.
Ahead of the game, Wayne and Coleen were pictured looking every inch the supportive parents as they smiled for the cameras alongside their younger sons.
Wayne - who also shares son Klay, 11, with Coleen - cut a casual figure in an all-black ensemble and flashed a huge smile as he stepped out to show his support for Kai.
Meanwhile, Coleen looked stylish in a pink T-shirt and jeans, which she styled with a burgundy jacket.
Kai took to the field when Man United played against Co Tyrone at Riada Stadium at 7.30pm on Wednesday night.
Earlier in the week, Kai secured a huge achievement as he nabbed a goal in a 3-0 win over West Cork Academy.
Wayne himself played in the Super Cup NI before shooting to stardom and shared some words of support for his son.
When asked if he gives Kai any tips, Wayne said he simply 'lets him play and watch' and praised his son for handling the added attention because of his surname 'well'.
Speaking to Super Cup NI, Wayne shared: 'He just plays, that's what he's done this whole time playing, I think it's very unfair for anyone to expect him to go and do all kinds, he's just playing as a young boy, he's 15, just playing and doing it.
'But of course he gets different attention to his teammates but he handles that really well.'
Wayne played in the Super Cup - formerly the Milk Cup - himself in 2000 for Everton's Under-14 side and described the time as some of his 'greatest memories'.
The Super Cup is renowned for showcasing young and upcoming footballing talents and kicked off on Sunday and will wrap up on Friday.
Kai has been showing off his burgeoning football talent all season, and recently took part in a match against Glasgow Rangers in the Super Cup NI.
United beat Rangers 2-0 as they continue their trajectory towards the top of Group C of the Premier section. Both goals were scored by Abdoulaye Douka Nkoto.
Manchester United have been sending a youth squad to the tournament for 40 years, with the team winning 3-0 win over West Cork Academy on Monday.
One of the goals was scored by Kai, who has been making waves at the tournament as one of the younger players to watch for the future.
The trip to Northern Ireland comes after Coleen, who has previously revealed her down-to-earth holiday tastes include locations such as Butlin's, attended Together Again Festival with three of her sons at Bolesworth Castle in Cheshire.
The family enjoyed performances from Olly Murs, Jamie Webster and Dizzee Rascal, with Coleen seen singing away in the audience.
Sharing a series of photos to Instagram on Monday, she gave an insight into their festival fun, where weekend tickets cost £199.
In a series of snaps where the family posed with Jamie Website, she wrote: 'Thank you for looking after us Together Again Fest… fantastic set up!!
'And thanks for the photos and lovely to finally meet you Jamie Webster…. Kids had a ball.'

Viktor Gyokeres' underwhelming debut shows why Arsenal need him so much

A debut defeat and an outing that was underwhelming but left the sense he was underused may matter little. When it comes to competitive games, Viktor Gyokeres ' Arsenal bow will come at Old Trafford against Manchester United on 17 August. But as he donned their No 14 shirt for the first time in a game, Arsenal at least showed the need for Gyokeres, for a forward who scored 97 goals in 102 games for Sporting CP. The first North London derby staged outside the United Kingdom yielded a 1-0 loss to Tottenham, with Arsenal registering a lone shot on target, which Kai Havertz directed at Guglielmo Vicario. Gyokeres was limited to the last 20 minutes, including stoppage time, as Arsenal were largely toothless. The argument that they needed a specialist goalscorer is scarcely new, but perhaps it was underlined when they spent an initial £55m to acquire one. Arsenal had been waiting for Gyokeres: for a year, some might say, given the desire of many fans to buy a professional predator last summer. For weeks, definitely, given the hope they would have sprung into action the instant the transfer window opened, rather than signing him on 26 July. They had to wait a further 77 minutes, Mikel Arteta waiting before bringing on the buy who – one way or another – is likely to define the summer spending spree. He got a rapturous reception from the Hong Kong public who may have envisaged seeing him sooner. 'It was a short one but at least that one is over now,' said Arteta. He had brought on Gyokeres along with a lower-profile recruit, in defender Cristhian Mosquera, and added: 'I'm really happy to have them here. I think they are going to add a lot of value. You see straight away the energy and the quality they are going to bring.' Arteta had started with Havertz, just as the German has represented Plan A for much of his two seasons at the Emirates Stadium. A sign that Havertz is the man in possession or simply that, with Gyokeres only linking up with his new teammates this week and only having one full training session, he is the fitter, the better prepared. But Arsenal drew a blank. They did too often last season. In his 20 minutes, the arrival from Sporting CP was a presence in the penalty box, albeit one Arsenal struggled to pick out. Gyokeres' best touch was to set up Martin Zubimendi for the second of his long-range shots; the first, landing on the roof of the net seconds after his arrival, was the more threatening. The Spaniard was not supposed to be the summer signing who delivered the goal threat. Arsenal may hope there is a role reversal in more meaningful matches, the defensive midfielder passing to the centre-forward. When Gyokeres joined, he got a welcoming letter from Martin Odegaard, offering to do anything he could to help the newcomer settle. Some assists would be appreciated, the Swede smiled. Odegaard was at least on the pitch during Gyokeres' cameo. He may not expect to spend his time on the pitch being flanked by Reiss Nelson and Max Dowman. The 15-year-old at least sparkled in his own substitute appearance. He looks a precocious talent whereas Gyokeres, at 27, was bought to be the finished article. He was given the ultimate Arsenal goalscorer's shirt, the 14 made special by Thierry Henry. Perhaps his first goal in it will come at the Emirates Stadium: Arsenal have further friendlies against Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao on home soil. Arteta promised Gyokeres a longer outing then. He also said that Leandro Trossard came off after Spurs after tweaking a muscle but that Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes, who did not feature, should be fit for the start of the Premier League season. In their absence, Arsenal ended their Asian tour on a relative low. After beating AC Milan and Newcastle, they lost to Thomas Frank 's Tottenham. It amounted to an encouraging outing for the new manager. Even before Spurs scored, Pedro Porro and Wilson Odobert struck the same post, the full-back with a corner, the winger with a low shot. They won courtesy of a spectacular goal, Pape Matar Sarr lobbing David Raya from 50 yards after Myles Lewis-Skelly had lost the ball. The goalkeeper's presence nearer the half-way line than his own box was because of his role in the build-up, but it was not the only time Raya's positioning felt faulty. Arsenal will trust that, when the serious business starts, Gyokeres will be found in the right place at the right time and it leads to goals.

Ella Toone reveals her grandmother died on morning of Euro 2025 final

Ella Toone has revealed her grandmother died on the morning of England's Euro 2025 final victory over Spain. The 25-year-old played the opening 87 minutes of Sunday's match in Basel as the Lionesses retained their title thanks to a penalty shoot-out win following a 1-1 draw. Manchester United midfielder Toone lost her father Nick to prostate cancer last September. 'Even in the highest of highs life can hit you with the lowest of lows,' she posted on Instagram. 'My Nana Maz took her last breath on the morning of our Euro final. I have comfort in knowing she got to watch from the best seat in the house with Dad, her favourite person.' Toone, who helped England win Euro 2022 and finish runners-up to Spain at the 2023 World Cup, started five of her country's six games in Switzerland. 'I'll miss you forever nan but I'll cherish the special memories we made, there isn't enough words I can possibly say to sum up the person you were, but I'm grateful you were my nanna. My football loving, crazy, funny Nan,' her post continued. 'All those years ago when you put a bet on at the bookies that I would play for England one day & on the day you leave us we bring it home again. You always knew it.'

Flick rates Rashford performance for Barcelona as Yamal and Lingard swap shirts

Hansi Flick praised Marcus Rashford for coming on and making an impact after Barcelona maintained their 100 per cent record in pre-season with a thumping victory over FC Seoul. The Spanish champions have been ramping up their preparations for the upcoming campaign while on tour in South Korea and strolled to a dominant 7-3 win at the Seoul World Cup Stadium on Thursday. Robert Lewandowki opened the scoring before Lamine Yamal completed a brace in a tightly contested first half which ended 3-2, but the visitors showed their quality and pulled out of sight in a one-sided second period. After a brief run-out against Vissel Kobe last time out, Rashford was given 45 minutes to make a difference – and the forward seized his opportunity with both hands as he registered his first assist for the La Liga giants since joining on loan from Manchester United. With Barca holding a 6-3 lead in the closing stages, Rashford picked up the ball 20 yards out with his back to goal. In the blink of an eye, the attacker turned and found Ferran Torres with an exquisite through ball and the ex-Manchester City man made no mistake from close range. Torres made sure to credit to Rashford as he wheeled away to celebrate his second in what was a ruthless second-half display, in which Andreas Christensen and Gavi also found the net. 'Each player had 45 minutes. In the end, I'm happy,' Barcelona head coach Flick said shortly after the final whistle.. 'We had a good start in the first half and then we were a little sluggish, but we returned to a great level. 'In the second half, too, with Gavi, Ferran, Marcus… also Gerard Martin in a position that isn't his usual one.' On Gavi's best position, Flick added: 'He can play as a number six or a number eight. 'We saw him perform at the end of last season and he was at a very good level. 'Here, exactly what I've seen from Gavi is what I want to see: pushing the team forward, wearing the armband. It's good to see him like this.' There was a nice moment at the start of the second period when Rashford was brought on in place of Raphinha to rapturous applause from those Barca fans in attendance at the 66,000-capacity stadium. Rashford was smiling from ear to ear as he ran onto the field to be greeted by former Manchester United team-mate and close friend Jesse Lingard, who now captains FC Seoul. Videos taken in the tunnel after the match show Rashford and Lingard catchig up and chatting at length before they are joined by a certain Lamine Yamal. Yamal, who had earlier been pictured in conversation with Lingard on the pitch, could be seen swapping shirts with the FC Seoul skipper. More Trending After the win, Yamal took the opportunity to thank Barcelona's support who had cheered them on in Korea. 'I'm very happy. This has been my dream since I was little – to score wearing this jersey and this number. It's very special,' he said. I'm thrilled to have scored and for the team's victory Thank you so much for supporting us in every country. We're truly grateful. Hopefully, this season will be very successful and we'll win many trophies. For more stories like this, check our sport page.
