Western Yilgarn secures new exploration licences in Western Australia's Gascoyne Region

Yahoo07-05-2025
Western Yilgarn has acquired new exploration licences, expanding its gold portfolio within the Gascoyne Region of Western Australia.
The licences, covering an area of 201km², are located just 8.7km from the high-potential Glenburgh Gold Project.
The newly secured ground lies over a highly fertile craton margin and metamorphic belt terrane, with the potential for significant gold mineralisation.
The licences are fully owned by Western Yilgarn and fall within the Dalgaringa Supersuite, which hosts the Glenburgh Gold Project.
The company said that the region has been recognised for its gold potential in recent decades but remains underexplored, offering a substantial opportunity for new discoveries.
Exploration activities are already under way, including comprehensive geological and geophysical analysis aimed at identifying prospective gold drilling targets.
The Gascoyne Project area is situated approximately 300km east of Carnarvon by road, with access from the west via Meekatharra-Carnarvon Road or from Jack Hills through Milly Milly station.
Western Yilgarn non-executive director Pedro Kastellorizos said: 'We are extremely pleased to secure the Gascoyne Gold Project as it provides excellent potential to delineate gold resources similar to the Benz Mining Glenburgh mineralised gold system, which now expands over 50km in length.
'The company has the same geological lithologies as the Glenburgh Gold Project located to the north of the current tenements. We have now commenced a geological and geophysics review for the purposes of delineating gold targets to commence ground exploration activities.'
In addition to this expansion, Western Yilgarn's management team has recently undergone a strategic restructure.
This included divesting from international subsidiary projects and acquiring new, highly prospective land holdings in some of Australia's emerging nickel-gold regions.

China and the EU: Partners for mutual success

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. Over the past half-century, China-EU relations have withstood the tests of global changes and maintained a stable momentum of development. This enduring partnership has strongly supported mutual progress and brought tangible benefits to nearly two billion people in China and Europe. The prospects for pragmatic China-EU cooperation remain broad. As China advances toward high-quality development and actively boosts domestic demand, European businesses are finding ample space to expand in the Chinese market. A large number of EU companies have invested in China, witnessing the country's reform and opening-up as well as the development of Chinese modernisation, while also reaping substantial returns. In the early 1980s, German automobile manufacturers were among the first to seize market opportunities by investing and building factories in China. Today, brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen derive over 30% of their global sales from the Chinese market, with profits in China reaching up to 30 times those earned in their domestic markets. In sectors such as chemicals, optics, aerospace and aviation, European products account for more than 30% and in some cases over 50% of China's total imports. In Europe, Chinese companies have leveraged their infrastructure strengths, utilising EU funds and complying with EU standards to deliver the 2,440-metre-long Pelješac Bridge in Croatia with high quality. The Hungary-Serbia Railway, China's first high-speed rail project in Europe, increased the local train speed from 50 km/h to 200 km/h, creating a fast track for improving the quality of life for local communities. New stage for China's investment in Europe China's investment in Europe has entered a new stage. Since the early 2000s and accelerating after 2009, China's cumulative investment in Europe has exceeded $100 billion, and annual investment flows are now roughly on par with EU investment in China. By the end of 2023, China had established over 2,800 directly invested businesses across all 27 EU member states, employing more than 270,000 local workers. Since the establishment of the China-CEEC cooperation mechanism in 2012, Chinese enterprises have shown strong interest in investing in Central and Eastern European countries across a wide range of sectors. According to incomplete statistics, total investment has exceeded $24 billion. For example, the acquisition of Volvo by a Chinese company revitalised the Swedish automaker and enabled its strong growth, with global sales rising from 374,000 units in 2010 to 763,400 in 2024. Similarly, the Piraeus Port in Greece, revitalised through Chinese investment, has emerged from crisis and decline to regain vitality. It now ranks as the fourth-largest port in Europe following Rotterdam, Antwerp and Hamburg. The project has created 4,300 direct local jobs and generated €1.4 billion in economic output, accounting for approximately 1% of Greece's GDP. It stands as a vivid example of China-EU solidarity in times of difficulty and a model project under the Belt and Road Initiative. China-EU green cooperation contributes to the economic transformation of both sides. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement and the 20th anniversary of the China-EU Climate Change Partnership. The two sides have achieved fruitful results in cooperation in areas such as environment, energy, circular economy, and water resources, effectively advancing respective green and low-carbon development while making positive contributions to global sustainable development. In recent years, China's electric vehicle and new energy battery industries have become key drivers of a new wave of investment in Europe, further strengthening the bonds of cooperation and injecting strong momentum into China-EU collaboration in the green and low-carbon sector. Companies such as CATL and Gotion High-Tech have established factories in Europe, providing localised support to European automakers and promoting joint progress toward a green transition. In Southern Europe, China and Portugal have deepened cooperation in the photovoltaic and lithium battery sectors, supporting Portugal's goal of achieving 22 GW of solar installed capacity by 2030. In northern Europe, a China-Finland joint venture is set to launch Finland's first lithium battery materials plant, expected to begin operations in 2027. China has built the world's largest and most environmentally friendly car carrier, as well as the world's first 7,500-cubic-meter liquid CO2transport ship for Norway. Meanwhile, Sinopec Green Energy Geothermal Development, a China-Iceland joint venture, has developed multiple 'smoke-free cities' in China through geothermal heating. In central and eastern Europe, multiple Chinese electric vehicle and power battery companies, both upstream and downstream, have established manufacturing facilities. A growing number of sustainable energy projects involving Chinese enterprises are increasingly delivering environmental benefits. Projects such as the Ivovik Wind Farm in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Korl at Solar Park — Croatia's largest photovoltaic power project — and a solar power station in southeastern Romania are all helping reshape local energy mixes. In China, Volkswagen Anhui has integrated the 'zero-waste' concept across its entire production process, contributing to China's pursuit of sustainable development and harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature. Scientific and technological cooperation steadily advancing China-EU scientific and technological cooperation is advancing steadily. The Chinese government remains committed to an open and innovation-driven policy, expanding international scientific and technological cooperation and prioritising the EU as a key partner. China–France nuclear cooperation began in 1982 and has made notable progress in fusion research in recent years. China–Italy collaboration on SME innovation, China–Germany cooperation in smart manufacturing and autonomous driving have all produced concrete results. The high-level dialogue established between China and the EU in the digital field aims to jointly promote digital transformation and economic growth. China is actively engaged in dialogue with the UK and France on artificial intelligence, working together to promote inclusive AI development for good and for all. China–EU cooperation in aerospace has also been fruitful. In 2024, the Chang'e-6 mission successfully landed on the Moon carrying the European Space Agency's lunar surface negative ion analyser, France's radon gas detector, and Italy's laser retroreflector, marking the first discovery of negative ions on the Moon. China has also approved requests from France and five other European countries to access lunar samples returned by Chinese lunar exploration missions for joint scientific research that benefits all humanity. Furthermore, China and multiple EU countries, through platforms such as intergovernmental science and technology cooperation committees, are jointly supporting flagship research projects in diverse fields, including agriculture, food and biotechnology, climate change, and biodiversity. These initiatives continue to deliver outcomes that help contribute to sustainable development. Mutual success delivers benefits to people on both sides China and the EU have achieved mutual success with practical cooperation, delivering benefits to people on both sides. With deeper high-level opening-up, China places greater emphasis on meeting the growing needs of its people for a better life. European products such as dairy from Ireland and the Netherlands and olive oil from Spain have become part of the daily lives of Chinese consumers. The 'From French farms to Chinese tables' initiative has become a signature of China-France cooperation, enriching Chinese palates while delivering tangible benefits to French farmers. The China-EU Geographical Indications (GI) Agreement is the first comprehensive and high-level bilateral agreement on GI protection that China has signed, marking a milestone in China-EU cooperation on intellectual property rights. Since its entry into force, premium products like Anji white tea, Jinhua ham, Zhouzhi kiwifruit, and French champagne have entered each other's markets, helping preserve cultural and natural heritage and injecting new momentum into deeper China-EU collaboration. As of June this year, the China-Europe Railway Express had operated over 110,000 trips, transporting goods worth more than $450 billion and connecting 229 cities across 26 European countries, significantly enhancing connectivity across the Eurasian continent. His Excellency Ambassador Cai Run is Head of the Chinese Mission to the EU.

Mercedes' Vision for On-Road Meetings

Mercedes' Vision for On-Road Meetings originally appeared on Autoblog. Mercedes [literally] means business If any normal layman were to think about the typical Mercedes-Benz driver, you'd probably picture an on-the-go, deal-making entrepreneur or businessperson. You know the type, someone whose day consists of nothing but constant meetings and calls while navigating between airport terminals, office buildings in the city and the suburbs, and onsite client visits and dinners. Although Mercedes sells its cars to all types of people of various stripes, it is leaning even harder into that ideal image more than ever. Starting with its brand-new CLA, it offers a mobile workspace designed to keep you productive behind the wheel, even if your email signature says you are on the move. That Teams meeting can be taken while driving Thanks to a new collaboration with Microsoft, Mercedes models will get a tech upgrade that turns the driver's seat into a mobile office chair, starting with the upcoming CLA. The highlight of the new in-car tech suite is an updated version of Microsoft Teams called Enhanced Meetings for Teams, which will let you join video calls while driving. The car's built-in camera lets other meeting participants see you in real time, so you can dial in and check in with your team without pulling over to open up your laptop. Though this might seem like a dangerous opportunity waiting to happen, the moment someone shares their screen to show a PowerPoint presentation, Mercedes says it's keeping drivers safe while in meetings on the go. When the camera is on, the car's display automatically disables shared content like slides or spreadsheets, so you won't have to take your eyes off the road. Additionally, if you're not in the mood to be on camera or if you do not want to show your teammates that you're behind the wheel of your Benz, you have the option to turn it off. The new Teams app also makes managing your workday from the car surprisingly easy. A feature called 'Next Meetings' shows your upcoming appointments, while quick-access contacts and an expanded chat function help you keep up with your team. Everything is voice-controlled, so you can write messages or jump into meetings without ever touching your phone or laptop. The CLA's in-car office features don't stop at Microsoft Teams. Mercedes is also integrating Microsoft Intune, a platform that allows secure access to business apps while keeping your personal data separate. This means you can log into your company accounts from the car, while your IT team handles security behind the scenes, just like they would with your work phone or laptop. However, what adds the cherry on top is the inclusion of Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft's in-house generative AI assistant, which can be used to summarize your emails, find client details, or help you prep for meetings. Though the GPT-4-based AI assistant is traditionally controlled similarly to ChatGPT or Grok with message prompts, Benz drivers can control Copilot in the car with simple voice commands and prompts. Mercedes says that by working with Microsoft, cars like the CLA can effectively be turned into a 'third workspace' alongside the office and home office. 'Through our industry-leading collaboration with Microsoft, we are making it even easier for our customers to stay productive while on the move,' said Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG. 'By integrating the latest Microsoft workspace tools directly into our new operating system, we've created an intuitive and safe user experience that boosts efficiency and reduces distractions at the same time.' Final thoughts These new features will roll out in the CLA when it goes on sale and will require the selection of the Entertainment Package Plus and a data plan, though availability will depend on the market. As someone with experience being on both the receiving end and taking phone and video calls on the move, it seems fairly natural at this point that we move on from offering just 5G-powered Wi-Fi connectivity and begin to integrate actual apps into the infotainment systems of our cars. Personally, I wouldn't use this in my day-to-day work activities; however, as someone who lives in the same area as some big-money Wall Street types, I expect to see some blue-shirted broker or analyst in their Benz close a deal or "provide some color" to someone while sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic in the near future. Luxury automakers have a more aggressive tariff battle plan

Small businesses get a lot of attention during campaign season. You don't have to search long for a soundbite of a politician calling small businesses the "backbone of our economy" or the "lifeblood of America" or some other metaphor. While some argue that the giant omnibus bill that was passed earlier this month provides relief to small businesses through tax breaks, evidence shows that tariffs, President Donald Trump's primary economic agenda, have done immeasurable harm to small businesses. Related: Another luxury car maker is taken down by US tariffs More than 97% of the companies that import goods are small businesses with fewer than 500 employees, according to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Nearly half of those small businesses had fewer than 50 employees. Those small businesses were responsible for a third of the total value of goods imported. Big businesses also import a lot of goods, but they often have more flexibility when it comes to shifting supply chain strategies. This is not the same for small businesses. "For many small business importers, even a small increase in tariffs can have a profound effect on their bottom line," the Chamber of Commerce report states. "These businesses typically operate with tight profit margins and limited financial flexibility." This dynamic is also being played out in the auto space, where luxury automakers have been more aggressive with their strategy to combat tariffs, while non-luxury automakers, like small businesses, are forced to be more cautious. Image source: Lucy/Getty Images President Trump has been very clear that he doesn't want automakers to raise prices due to his tariffs. General Motors, Ford, and Stellantis, the three domestic manufacturers, have all agreed to those terms, usually blaming regular seasonal price adjustments for any increases. Foreign companies with large manufacturing footprints in the U.S. have also acquiesced to the president's wishes, while also attributing the minimal price increases to seasonality. But luxury automakers don't seem to be toeing the same line. Aston Martin British luxury automaker Aston Martin (makers of the iconic James Bond car) plans to raise prices on some of its cars and limit shipments to the U.S. Ferrari Italian marque Ferrari says it will raise prices as much as 10% on most of its models, even models that have already been sold. Ferrari sales contracts allow the company to adjust pricing due to changing economic conditions, according to Reuters. Mercedes-Benz German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz recently reported a 9% second-quarter sales decline that it blamed on tariffs. But Mercedes has a significant manufacturing presence in the U.S., and in response ,it plans to add production capacity at its Alabama plant. Jaguar Land Rover Jaguar Land Rover announced that it was pausing U.S. shipments from the UK in April before restarting them after the the U.S. and UK announced they had reached a deal on the framework for a tariff deal. BMW Group BMW Group, which includes BMW, Mini and Rolls-Royce, initially stated that it would absorb tariff costs, but it has since said that it will raise prices on the 2 Series that it builds in Mexico. Meanwhile Mini is delaying bringing its Chinese-built electric Aceman crossover and convertible Cooper to the U.S. due to the tariffs.
