Kajol
has always been open about how much she loves and admires her mother, the veteran actress Tanuja. But in a recent chat, Kajol shared a story from her childhood that many people didn't know.
It's a tale that shows just how deep her bond is with her mother and the strong line of women in her family.
Growing up with strong women
Speaking to The Lallantop, Kajol looked back fondly on her childhood. She grew up in a busy house with four generations of women under one roof, her great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and herself. That kind of upbringing left a big impact on her.
She said, 'I got to know that my maternal grandmother's mother was very sick.
I called my mom, but she didn't allow me to come back home because I had exams. My holidays were in December, so she asked me to come in December only. I was 11 at that time." Even after so many years, Kajol remembered this moment very clearly.
A daring plan to escape
Kajol was just 11 then, studying in a boarding school in Panchgani, which is nearly five hours away from Mumbai. But she didn't let distance stop her from trying to be with her family.
Overcome with emotion and a strong will to act, she made a bold plan to run away.
'Another one of my friends was also unhappy, and we both decided to run away from the boarding school. We both decided to go to Bombay," she shared, laughing a little at the memory. It was a plan full of childlike bravery and love.
Almost halfway home
Kajol didn't stop at planning. She actually put her little plan into action. 'I went to my local guardian, my mama in Panchgani, and I told him that mom has called me home.
I asked him to take me to the bus stand," she said.
Her uncle believed her and took her to the bus stand. It seemed like everything was working out. But her freedom didn't last long. 'While I was waiting in the bus, the nuns came, and they pulled me by my ear and took me back to the school."
Boarding school taught her life lessons
Even though her runaway adventure was cut short, Kajol still thinks fondly of her boarding school days.
'There, kids learn the value of their parents. It makes you better at adapting to society," she explained.
Sending her own children to boarding school
Kajol believes so much in what boarding schools offer that she decided to send her own children there too. 'I like boarding schools, and I sent Nysa also to one. Now, I want to send my son Yug as well to the boarding school," she confirmed.
On the work front, Kajol's horror thriller 'Maa' is now running in the cinemas.

Kajol roasts Ajay Devgn for his viral 'finger dancer' says, 'he is the only actor who..'

Kajol roasts Ajay Devgn for his viral 'finger dancer' says, 'he is the only actor who..' In Bollywood, there are some moments from a film that quickly catch the attention of the audience and become a part of the meme culture. One such viral and humorous moment appeared in a recently released song of Sardar 2. Ajay Devgn, the action hero, is known for his intense roles and strong performance; however, when it comes to his dance, he is often seen providing unintentional comic relief. Why is Ajay Devgn Creating Waves On Social Media? Recently, Ajay Devgn is creating waves on the internet once again, but this time it's not for his acting or his upcoming project, but his dance step in the newly released song of Son of Sardar 2. As soon as the Pehla Tu Duja Tu song came out, Ajay quickly grabbed attention for performing the hook steps using his fingers. Instead of grooving on the song, this unusual step of Ajay Devgn caused a buzz on social media and invited a flood of humorous reactions. While fans are trolling this hook step, what got even more entertaining was when Kajol went on to share her opinion on this. What Did Kajol Say on Ajay Devgn's Viral Finger Dance? While promoting her film 'Maa', Kajol was asked about her opinion on the 'finger step' of Ajay Devgn. Bursting into laughter, Kajol said with heavy sarcasm, 'I think Ajay Devgan is one of the best dancers in the industry… because now he's the only actor who can dance with his fingers.' Her reaction had the entire audience in splits. She further joked about how Ajay Devgn has evolved as a dancer, from walking stylishly in older songs to now counting beats on his fingers. What's interesting is that Ajay Devgn isn't being trolled for his dance for the first time. His 'finger choreography' was previously witnessed in the song Teri Dhoom Dham, which has also become a subject of memes and online humour. Kajol's light-hearted roast on Ajay Devgn's finger dance speaks about the friendly bond they share and how the couple knows how to laugh at each other, without taking it personally. ‘Son of Sardaar 2' trailer: Ajay Devgn returns in comedy sequel set in Scotland

Ajay Devgn is set to return in Son of Sardaar 2, the sequel to his 2012 film Son of Sardaar. The freshly released trailer confirms the film's release date as July 25. Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the sequel shifts its setting from Punjab to Scotland, where the story unfolds around a wedding. The trailer opens with the question, 'Will he survive Scotland?' and follows Devgn's character as he navigates unfamiliar surroundings and a series of comic situations. The story introduces several characters tied to a wedding, with humour built around cultural contrasts and exaggerated misunderstandings. The film features Mrunal Thakur opposite Devgn. Other cast members include Ravi Kishan, Mukul Dev, Sanjay Mishra, Vindu Dara Singh, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Neeru Bajwa. Mukul Dev, who passed away in May 2024, appears here in his final film role. Son of Sardaar, released in 2012, earned approximately ₹100 crore at the box office. It released alongside Jab Tak Hai Jaan, the final film by Yash Chopra, and the simultaneous release led to a dispute over screen distribution. Ajay Devgn filed a complaint with the Competition Commission of India against Yash Raj Films at the time. Speaking about the issue in a recent interview with The Lallantop, actor Kajol, who is married to Devgn, said she felt 'helpless' during the disagreement. She noted that both sides were defending their positions and that time was needed to allow tensions to settle. Director Vijay Kumar Arora is known for Punjabi-language films including Godday Godday Chaa and Kali Jotta. Son of Sardaar 2 marks his return to Hindi cinema.
