Shannon Sharpe shares raw, tearful Hall of Fame moment with brother Sterling. You know those rare sports moments that make even the toughest fans tear up? Yeah, this was one of them. On August 2, 2025, NFL fans witnessed a once-in-a-lifetime scene as Shannon Sharpe helped his big brother Sterling Sharpe into his gold jacket, making them the first set of siblings ever inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. That's right, two brothers, two legendary careers, one unforgettable legacy. And it wasn't just about football stats or highlight reels. It was about family, perseverance, and a decades-long fight for respect. For Shannon, it was the moment he'd literally said he'd trade his own career for. For Sterling, it was long overdue recognition. For the NFL? It was history. The Sharpe brothers become the first siblings in Hall of Fame history, and the ceremony couldn't have been more emotional Sterling Sharpe, the legendary Packers receiver, finally got his gold jacket in Canton. Standing beside him? None other than his younger brother, Shannon- The NFL icon, TV personality, and Hall of Famer since 2011, who proudly presented the jacket. Shannon didn't just show up, he broke down in tears while slipping it on Sterling's shoulders. Fans online were instantly emotional, calling it 'the most beautiful gold jacket moment ever.' Shannon Sharpe's tearful tribute brought it all full circle after years of fighting for his brother's legacy This wasn't just ceremonial for Shannon, it was personal. Back in his own Hall of Fame speech in 2011, Shannon said he'd give up every accolade he earned if it meant Sterling could be recognized too. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Moose Approaches Girl At Bus Stop In Fes-meknes - Watch What Happens Happy in Shape Undo That's how much he believed his brother deserved the same honor. Now, 14 years later, that dream became real. Sources say Shannon even asked ESPN to delay announcing his departure from the network so it wouldn't overshadow Sterling's moment in the spotlight. If that doesn't say brotherhood, what does? Sterling's career may have been cut short, but his numbers were always Hall of Fame-worthy Sterling Sharpe only played seven NFL seasons due to a career-ending neck injury, but the guy was an absolute force. He racked up five Pro Bowl selections, three All-Pro nods, and led the league in receptions, yards, and touchdowns at different points. In 1992, he completed the Triple Crown for receivers, an insanely rare feat. It was never about the quantity of seasons with Sterling. It was always about quality. Still, the Hall of Fame doors stayed shut for years. That is, until 2025. Shannon said it best: 'Everything I am, everything people know me for, I got from you.' This moment wasn't about analysts or sportswriters, it was about two brothers who beat the odds, inspired each other, and redefined greatness. Pro Football Hall of Fame 2025: Jared Allen, Sterling Sharpe, Eric Allen enshrined in NFL history
The Pro Football Hall of Fame welcomed its Class of 2025, including Jared Allen, Sterling Sharpe, and Eric Allen on Saturday (August 2). Their speeches, rich with gratitude and insights on perseverance and mentorship, highlighted their lasting impact on the NFL. Jared Allen, known for his calf-roping sack celebration, spoke about his "why" fear, respect, and the pursuit of greatness. "The 'why' is what makes you different. My why can be summed up with three things: fear, respect, and the pursuit of greatness," he said. Fear of failure drove growth, while respect for peers and icons like Jack Youngblood inspired him. He kept the NFL sack leaders' names in his locker for motivation. Allen thanked the Chiefs, Panthers, Bears, and Vikings, saying, "As a Norseman by blood, it was only fitting I became a Viking." Sterling Sharpe's speech focused on family and mentorship, peaking with a moment alongside his brother, Shannon Sharpe, the first brothers enshrined in the Hall. Sharpe credited coaches Buddy Geis, Sherm Lewis, and Jon Gruden for his Green Bay Packers success. "You have to learn to follow before you can lead," he said, noting how he emulated receivers like Michael Irvin to win the 1992 triple crown. To Shannon, he said, "Everything I did was for an audience of one," inviting him onstage to share their historic bond. Eric Allen expressed gratitude for football's impact. "The pursuit of excellence, in short, calls for everything you have got," he said. Drafted by Buddy Ryan in 1988, he valued his Eagles tenure with elite defenses. Allen thanked the Saints and Raiders, especially Al Davis and Jon Gruden, for his Oakland years with stars like Jerry Rice. He honored his wife, Lynn Marie, saying, "You've had my back since day one. I love you always and forever," emphasizing a life of respect. The 2025 Hall of Fame class, featuring Jared Allen, Sterling Sharpe, and Eric Allen, left a lasting impact. Their stories of grit, guidance, and family inspired all, with their bronze busts symbolizing excellence for future generations.

Bengals' cornerback competition heats up with multiple players vying for first-team spots
CINCINNATI — At Bengals training camp, no position has had more players rotating through with the first-team unit than the cornerback spot. HT Image 'I wouldn't read anything these first couple of weeks into who's lining up with who, because oftentimes it's so fluid with us at 9:52 a.m. before a 10 o'clock practice,' coach Zac Taylor said. 'That's just part of training camp. There's plenty of time for a bunch of these battles to shake out.' Cam Taylor-Britt, Dax Hill and DJ Turner were the starters for most of last season. With Taylor-Britt being managed a bit for precautionary reasons, Hill coming back from a torn ACL and Turner coming off of a subpar 2024 season, first-team snaps have been up for grabs. Josh Newton is making a strong push for the starting slot cornerback spot, and DJ Ivey has impressed while getting regular reps with the first-team defense. Taylor-Britt has been a starter for the Bengals since the middle of the 2022 season. While 2024 was the worst season of his career, he's simplifying his approach entering 2025 and has a fresh start with new defensive coordinator Al Golden. Taylor-Britt went back to the drawing board during the offseason. He watched all of his bad plays. 'You can see my eyes,' Taylor-Britt said. 'You can see why the ball was caught. It was bad eyes. It wasn't technique or anything. I have to slow down at the line and be myself. Stay confident. Stay the same guy no matter what's going on.' Hill moved from safety to cornerback entering the 2024 season, and he immediately impressed at his new position. But the former first-round pick tore his ACL in Week 5. This year, he's a candidate to start at outside cornerback or in the slot, and he's the Bengals' most versatile defensive back. 'It's good for everyone to know different spots,' Hill said. 'At corner, it's a lot of mental. Knowing your matchup. Knowing the offense, that's the biggest thing at corner. Week-to-week at corner, there's a different mindset you have to go into the game with.' Turner had been struggling in camp, running with the second-team defense and regularly allowing receptions until last Thursday. Then during that practice, he astoundingly recorded five pass breakups, including highlight plays against Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Turner has always shown great athleticism and the ability to track receivers down the field. The next step for him is making more plays on the ball when quarterbacks challenge him down the field. 'It's just football,' Turner said. 'There are big names here. Joe Burrow. Ja'Marr. Trey. Big names. You have to look at it as normal people and just play football. You're here for a reason, too. It's just the mental aspect of going against people you watched growing up.' Newton, the Bengals' fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, made six starts last year after Turner's season-ending shoulder injury. His intensity, tackling ability and physicality in coverage have really been on display during a very strong training camp for him. He's consistently running with the first-team defense. 'We have the biggest question mark ,' Newton said. 'It's an honor to have that question mark because we have a pencil ready to answer it.' Ivey was one of the best tight end stoppers in the NFL last season and regularly played on third downs. He has great size for the cornerback position and has been getting plenty of opportunities to develop as a true outside cornerback with the first-team defense. 'I think growth is a good word ,' Taylor said. 'DJ continues to ascend in a lot of areas on defense and special teams, and I'm excited to watch him continue to compete in training camp. He's a guy who is a joy to be around. I like what he's about.' /hub/nfl This article was generated from an automated news agency feed without modifications to text.
