Deion Sanders disputes report about New York Giants' pre-draft meeting with Shedeur
NFL Hall of Famer and current University of Colorado head coach, Deion Sanders, is speaking out about the reports that his son, Shedeur, was unprepared for several pre-draft meetings with NFL teams.
The younger Sanders was said to have had several meetings that did not go well, particularly with the New York Giants and head coach Brian Daboll. One rumor had Sanders wearing headphones during a meeting and appearing to be disinterested.
As a result, Sanders, who was projected to be a top-10 pick, fell all the way down to the fifth round where he was finally taken by the Cleveland Browns.
"They want to create these narratives and create these stories and then attach them to a kid that ain't never done nothing wrong," Deion said during an appearance on Say What Needs To Be Said.
"You gonna tell me he had on headphones, Shedeur? Anybody know my son understand he's a professional. Like he's gonna go into a meeting with headphones on?
"They're lying," continued Deion.
Either way, Shedeur is now vying to be the Browns' starter as early as this season. His father believes the draft ordeal will serve as extra motivation for him. That still doesn't help with the sting left behind by the bad experience.
The younger Sanders went from prized prospect to afterthought in the blink of an eye. And with it went millions of dollars.

14 Dolphins selections named best NFL draft picks ever taken at slot
Some of the greatest players in NFL history have donned the aqua and orange. In ESPN's look back at the best NFL draft pick ever at every draft slot from No. 1 to No. 262, 14 Dolphins selections found their way onto the list. ESPN's Ben Solak took "best" to mean some combination of "most talented" and "most succesful" and added some extra weight for players that were lifers with one franchise. Here's a look at the 14 Dolphins NFL draft selections that garnered inclusion from ESPN. Miami Dolphins' NFL draft selections included among ESPN's best ever Dolphins Hall of Famers Dan Marino, Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas were no-brainers on this ESPN list. Marino passed for 61,361 yards to rank ninth all-time in NFL history. Marino finished with 420 touchdown passes and guided the Dolphins to an appearance in Super Bowl XIX. During that 1984 season, Marino became the first NFL quarterback to pass for more than 5,000 yards in a season and set a single-season passing touchdowns record at the time with 48. Taylor was a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time first-team All-Pro. Taylor was named the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2006 after registering 62 total tackles, a team-high 13.5 sacks, two interceptions returned for scores, 11 passes defensed, 10 forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. During his 12-year stretch with Miami, Thomas led the Dolphins in tackles in 10 seasons and racked up 100 tackles in each of his first 11 seasons. Throughout his career, Thomas registered 20.5 sacks and amassed 17 interceptions for 170 yards and four touchdowns. Thomas was voted first-team All-Pro five times and was a seven-time Pro Bowler. Six players from the list were selected in the 1970s, four in the 1980s, three in the 1990s and one in 2019. Of course, quarterback Joe Theismann never played for the Dolphins. Theismann was drafted by the franchise in 1971, but he initially opted to play in the CFL with the Toronto Argonauts. In an ironic twist, Theismann would later beat the Dolphins in Super Bowl XVII with the then-Washington Redskins who Miami traded Theismann's rights to in 1974.

Cowboys Pro Bowler KaVontae Turpin lands in legal trouble just weeks before training camp
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver KaVontae Turpin was arrested in Texas on marijuana and weapons charges on Saturday. The speedy receiver and return specialist for Dallas is facing a pair of misdemeanor charges after being arrested and booked into Collin County Jail, per The Dallas Morning News. Turpin faces possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon, both being misdemeanors in Texas. Jail records also confirm that Turpin was released from jail on Sunday. There are no further specifics on Turpin's incident or whether he will face any discipline from the Cowboys or the NFL. This isn't the first time Turpin has dealt with off-the-field legal issues, as he was kicked off his TCU Horned Frogs squad due to assault charges, which he pleaded guilty to in college. Turpin ended up going undrafted out of college, where he played in several leagues before ultimately landing with the Cowboys in 2022. He ended up finding a solid home there, earning two Pro Bowl nods during his three seasons, most of which were due to his ability to make magic happen on special teams. He was a first-team All-Pro last season after totaling a league-high 904 return yards on kickoffs with one touchdown. He also had a punt return and 187 yards on those kicks last season. Turpin can also provide some breakout speed when Dak Prescott gets him the ball, hauling in 31 receptions for 420 yards with two touchdowns. The Cowboys will open training camp on July 21, beginning their preparation for their Week 1 matchup — a "Thursday Night Football" bout to kick off the NFL season against the Super Bowl-champion Philadelphia Eagles. He made his first Pro Bowl as a rookie in 2022 and his second last season, when he led the NFL with 33.5 yards per kickoff return and scored touchdowns as a receiver, a kickoff returner and a punt returner to become the first player in Cowboys history to complete that single-season trifecta. Turpin was kicked off the team at TCU as a senior in 2018 after two domestic violence allegations against him. Both cases involved the same woman. 3 KaVontae Turpin catches the football during practice at NFL football minicamp at the Cowboys' facility, Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in Frisco, Texas. AP It was three years before Turpin played football again. He joined the Fan Controlled Football League, The Spring League, the European League of Football and the USFL – where he was the MVP of the 2022 season while playing for the New Jersey Generals – before signing with the Cowboys. Turpin could be subject to discipline under the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy, though those penalties typically are not handed out until after the legal process is complete.
