One Nation, Two Laws: Digvijaya Singh's social media post kicks up political row
Captioned 'Ek Desh Do Kanoon' (One Nation, Two Laws), the post by the septuagenarian politician showed two pictures – one where the Kanwar Yatra is blocking the road and the other where a cop is seen kicking men offering namaz on the road.
The post pictorially questioned two sets of actions by authorities on the religious practices of different communities.
The post triggered angry reactions from the ruling BJP. Slamming the senior Congress leader over the post, the MP cabinet minister, Vishwas Sarang, termed Singh as 'Maulana Digvijaya Singh.'
'He only opposes Sanatan Dharma. He has not even spared the holy Kanwar Yatra. What else can be expected from a man (Singh) who has glorified anti-India Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, but questioned every operation of the Indian defence forces and never missed any opportunity to defame the Sanatan Dharma and Hindu sadhus. But mocking our festivals and holy Yatras through such social media posts will no longer be tolerated, he (Singh) needs to apologise,' Sarang said.

Indian Navy ships conclude Singapore visit, enhance maritime ties
Singapore: The four Indian Navy warships — INS Delhi, INS Satpura, INS Shakti, and INS Kiltan — under the command of Rear Admiral Susheel Menon wrapped up a successful port call to Singapore on Saturday which included professional interactions with the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN), discussions with the academia and multiple community outreach programmes. The Indian delegation on Friday visited the Information Fusion Centre (IFC) in Singapore and engaged in discussions on real-time information sharing, collaborative maritime surveillance and multilateral coordination efforts undertaken at IFC to enhance collective maritime security and domain awareness across the Indo-Pacific. In a major boost to India-Singapore maritime cooperation, four Indian Navy warships had arrived in Singapore on July 16 as part of the Eastern Fleet's operational deployment to South East Asia. The port call was a part of a wider effort to enhance maritime partnerships in the Indo-Pacific and reaffirm India's strategic commitment to the ASEAN region. Indian Navy and RSN share robust operational relations spanning over three decades of cooperation, coordination and collaboration with regular visits, exchange of best practices and reciprocal training arrangements. The visit underscored the strategic alignment between the two countries, particularly in upholding freedom of navigation and a rules-based order in maritime zones. The deployment of the Eastern Fleet ships to Southeast Asia reflects India's 'Act East' policy in action, promoting security, stability, and dialogue across the Indo-Pacific. Earlier this week, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar concluded a high-level official visit to Singapore, during which he held talks with the top leadership of the country on regional security, trade, and technological cooperation. Jaishankar described the India-Singapore relationship as 'a model partnership,' rooted in mutual trust and shared Indo-Pacific interests. India and Singapore enjoy over three decades of robust naval cooperation, marked by joint exercises, reciprocal training programmes, and regular port calls. With growing convergence in areas such as defence, cyber security, digital economy, and supply chain resilience, India and Singapore are poised to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership. Revanth asserts Palamuru's son will rule Telangana for next 10 years; Rajagopal says CM selection in Congress is democratic
Munugode MLA, Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, known for stoking controversies and speaking his heart out on any platform, has created political buzz in Telangana. He said that the Chief Minister in the Congress is elected by the party high command and with the support of the MLAs. In his post on 'X' on Saturday, Mr. Rajagopal Reddy disapproved Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's claims that for the next 10 years Telangana will be ruled by the Palamuru son - a reference that points to Mr. Revanth Reddy himself. Mr. Revanth Reddy made these statements at a public meeting in Jataprolu in Kollapur constituency of Nagarkurnool district on Friday (July 19, 2025). Tagging a Telugu news report in the post, Mr. Rajagopal Reddy said that Mr. Revanth Reddy announcing that he would be the Chief Minister for the bext 10 years was contrary to the Congress party policies. He said, in the post written in Telugu, that, 'In Congress, the selection of the Chief Minister is democratic, as per the wishes of the party high command. Sincere Congress leaders and workers will not tolerate any attempts to turn Telangana Congress into a personal empire.' Mr. Rajagopal Reddy, younger brother of Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, has been an aspirant for the ministerial berth and it was one of the conditions before he joined the Congress party from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just before the 2023 Assembly elections in the State. However, Mr. Rajagopal Reddy was denied a berth in the Cabinet initially as his brother, Mr. Venkat Reddy, a senior Congressman, was chosen. The Munugode MLA waited for the expansion, but the party was unable to accommodate him citing too many aspirants from the politically powerful Reddy community. All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary K.C. Venugopal had conveyed to him the reasons for excluding him in the Cabinet expansion but that did not satisfy the outspoken leader. However, he was hopeful that he would be considered in the vacancies in Cabinet, which the Congress may not fill till the local body elections are over. Mr. Rajagopal Reddy's resignation from the Congress and as MLA in August 2022 forced a bypoll in Munugode where he contested on a BJP ticket again. The poll, considered to be one of the costliest in history, saw a see-saw battle between the then-ruling BRS and the BJP. Though he lost by a narrow margin, it pushed the BJP to new heights in Telangana, raising its hopes of replacing the BRS. The earlier bypoll of Huzurabad, where BRS dissident Etala Rajender defeated the BRS candidate as a BJP nominee, and Raghunandan Rao winning in Dubbak bypoll gave the BJP new strength. However, him rejoining Congress in October 2023 helped the party change the perception that the BJP was out of the race in Telangana in 2023 Assembly elections.
