Mizzou's New RB Transfer Expected to Make Immediate Impact
Mizzou's newest addition to the backfield is already turning heads ahead of the 2025 season.
Ahmad Hardy, a running back transfer from the University of Louisiana-Monroe, committed to the Tigers last December. He enters Columbia as the highest-graded returning SEC running back for 2025, according to Pro Football Focus.
The Mississippi native was one of the most sought-after backs in the transfer portal, receiving interest from SEC programs like Ole Miss and Kentucky. 247Sports ranked him as the No. 6 running back in this year's transfer portal class.

Ultimately, Hardy said the decision to choose Missouri felt natural.
'I feel like Mizzou was home,' Hardy said. 'They were saying the right stuff, and the coaches and staff, they did their job. And the players, they welcomed me in.'
The 5-foot-10, 210-pound back fills a critical need for the Tigers after the departures of Nate Noel and Marcus Carroll, who combined for 1,413 rushing yards in 2024. Their production helped Mizzou to a 10-3 finish and a Music City Bowl win over Iowa.

Hardy, a sophomore, had a standout freshman season at ULM, rushing for 1,351 yards and 13 touchdowns on 237 carries, an average of 5.7 yards per carry.

He earned Sun Belt Freshman of the Year and First-Team All-Sun Belt honors, topping 100 rushing yards in eight of his 12 games and scoring in all but two.
He also caught eight passes for 72 yards, showing his versatility out of the backfield. Perhaps most impressively, Hardy forced 94 missed tackles, the second-most in the nation behind All-American and Heisman contender Ashton Jeanty.
Known for his tough, physical running style, Hardy is a natural fit for Missouri's wide-zone offensive scheme—one he already thrived in at ULM.
'We run outside zone like I did at my old school,' Hardy said. 'So I feel like I'm perfecting my craft."

Hardy is already emerging as one of Mizzou's most intriguing breakout candidates for the fall, and a name fans will want to keep an eye on.

Caitlin Clark to get other opinions on right groin injury, uncertain timeline to return to Fever
INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark will be getting another opinion on her right groin injury, coach Stephanie White said Sunday as the team returned to practice. Those evaluations and meetings with doctors will paint a clearer picture on how long her recovery will take, and White already said she doesn't anticipate Clark to play against New York on Tuesday. Clark, along with fellow All-Stars Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell, weren't at practice Sunday afternoon so they could rest after the All-Star Game. "She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests around early in the week," White said. "You know, I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluations early this week and then once we've done that, hopefully we'll have a clear line of what it looks like." Re-live Caitlin Clark's rookie season with our commemorative book Clark suffered the right groin injury on July 15 against the Connecticut Sun in Boston. While it's unclear specifically when she suffered the injury, she was in visible discomfort with about 30 seconds left in the game after a bounce-pass assist to Mitchell. She twisted to get away from defender Leila Lacan, then twisted to bounce the ball to Mitchell, then turned around and immediately grabbed her her right upper-thigh groin area, tears already welling up in her eyes. She got some imaging in New York, where the Fever played the Liberty on July 16, and was ruled out for that game. This is the fourth muscle injury for Clark this season, which has caused her to miss 11 of the Fever's 23 regular season games along with the Commissioner's Cup. Clark missed the Fever's preseason opener with left quad tightness, then suffered a left quad strain May 24 against the Liberty. She missed five games with the quad strain. Then, shortly after returning from the quad strain, she suffered a left groin injury that kept her out another five games. She played four games in her return from that injury before this fourth injury popped up. Clark had to pull out of the 3-point contest and the All-Star game, where she was a captain in her home city, because of her most recent injury. It's been a frustrating few months for the star guard but she's trying to take a positive approach as much as possible. "When the injury happened, it was pretty frustrating, considering, I knew what the coming days were gonna hold for myself," Clark said Saturday ahead of the All-Star Game. "But I feel like dealing with that, and then also just like trying to look at it in the most positive manner that I can. ... I think just it all comes back to having good perspective on everything." 6-Time PGA Winner Faces Criticism After Missing The Open's Friday Cut
6-Time PGA Winner Faces Criticism After Missing The Open's Friday Cut originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The PGA Tour headed to Royal Portrush golf club in Northern Ireland this week for the 2025's 'The Open (also known as the British Open in the United States)' as a familiar face, Scottie Scheffler, finished with a field-best -10 score after two rounds on Friday. Scheffler's success obscured the struggles of Cameron Smith, the six-time PGA Tour event winner who signed a $140-plus million dollar contract with Saudi Arabia (Public Investment Fund) funded LIV Golf in February 2023. Smith missed the cut after a frustrating performance that caused fans to doubt where his career is headed, and where his motivation lies heading down the stretch of the 2025 Tour. Smith finished at +8 on Friday and did not make the cut. He has missed the cut at all four major PGA Tour events this year. Fans pointed to his lucrative LIV Golf contract as a reason for his struggles. "Got a jillion fishing 5-6 days a week except when he has to play," one reader said. "LIV Golf ruined him," a second added. "He got the bag (bag emoji) and checked out," a third said. "Took the bag and lost motivation," another said. "For some one title is enough." Another said that the competitive side of Smith vanished after his move to LIV. "Joining LIV is what went wrong," another story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jul 18, 2025, where it first appeared.

Indiana Fever update Caitlin Clark injury status, availability vs New York Liberty
With the 2025 WNBA All-Star break concluded, the Indiana Fever provided an injury status update to star Caitlin Clark entering their Tuesday night matchup against the New York Liberty from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Clark, who suffered a right groin injury late in the Fever's July 15 victory over the Connecticut Sun, missed Indiana's blowout loss against the Liberty last Wednesday and opted out of the entire All-Star weekend to focus on her recovery. According to head coach Stephanie White, the Fever do not anticipate Clark being made available when they take the floor in Brooklyn on Tuesday. "I haven't seen C [Clark] since the game last night, but I think she's progressing. I think that we're continuing to address everything that needs to be addressed. She's going to see some doctors and get some more tests done early in the week. "I don't expect her to be available on Tuesday, so we're just going to continue to take it one day at a time and let her get her evaluation early this week. Once we've done that, hopefully we'll have more of a clear mind of what it looks like," White said of Clark's status. With Clark most likely unavailable for Indiana, the team will need to rely heavily on Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston to bear the load on offense with impactful contributions off the bench for the time being. Indiana's Tuesday night clash with New York will tip off at 7 p.m. CT and will be broadcast on ESPN.
