Basildon Council investigating after 37 dead dogs discovered
The scope of the council inquiry would include, but was not limited to, any communications or complaints it received regarding the organisation.Aidan McGurran, the Labour cabinet member for environment and leisure, said the council was "committed to understanding all aspects of this deeply troubling incident"."I would also like to make it clear that neither the leader Gavin Callaghan, or myself, received any emails on this matter," he added."Obviously, checks will be made to see if any other councillors were contacted by concerned members of the public."We've seen comments from residents on social media suggesting they had raised concerns with the council previously. "We are reviewing all complaints received in the past two years to determine if any information was overlooked."McCurran added that the council would be conducting a comprehensive review of all kennels, animal rescue organisations, home boarders and dog breeders in the borough.
'Extensive investigation'
Mr Rahman appeared at Southend Magistrates' Court on Thursday and is next due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on 9 June. Essex Police said the fraud offences related to the "transfer of ownership of dogs".As well as this, Mr Rahman was also charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and failing in the duty to ensure an animal's welfare.A second man arrested in the investigation was released on bail until July, Essex Police said.Officers have been trying to locate the dogs' last-known owners, as well as 20 dogs that were found alive at the premises.Insp Steve Parry said it had been an "extremely extensive investigation" and urged people not to speculate on the case.

Teenager, 18, has ‘three-quarters of scalp ripped off' on funfair ride in Hampshire
An 18-year-old woman has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after her hair reportedly became caught in a funfair ride in Hampshire at the weekend. Emergency services were called to Netley Marsh Steam and Craft show shortly before 11pm on Saturday after the teenager's hair was said to have been trapped in the rollers of a swinging floor. Emma Perry, a nurse from Southampton General Hospital, told the Southern Daily Echo: 'Her friend came off the ride and said she was bleeding, so I offered my services as a first aider. 'When I got up there, I saw that three-quarters of the girl's scalp had been ripped off in what we call a degloving incident.' One woman told the BBC that she had helped provide first aid to the teenager, and that there had been 'shock and panic' at the scene. "One of the girl's friends came down and said how serious it was and some of us offered assistance,' she said. "It's very shocking it could happen on a fairground ride that young children go on. This must never happen again.' In a post on Facebook, the show's organisers said: 'The unfortunate incident that happened at the show last evening is being investigated by the relevant authorities. 'Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show Ltd are cooperating with all parties involved. No further comment will be made until such time as appropriate and more information is available. 'Any comments made at present on social media are NOT the views of the show organisers and we will continue to support all parties involved. A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: 'We were called at 10.53pm on 26 July with reports that an 18-year-old woman had sustained potentially life-changing injuries to her head while on a ride at Netley Marsh Steam and Craft Show. 'She was taken to hospital for treatment. 'Police attended and have liaised with the Health and Safety Executive.'

Colchester driver who crashed car was not wearing glasses

Man seriously hurt and XL Bully dies in Aberdeen attempted murder
A man has been seriously injured in an attempted murder bid in Aberdeen which left an XL Bully dog 51-year-old was hurt in the incident at Eric Hendrie Park in the Deveron Road area of the city at about 20:30 on were called to the scene following reports of a "disturbance" and a vehicle in the man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where his condition is described as "serious but stable", however his dog died.
