The live-action Legend of Zelda movie, based on Nintendo's best-selling Zelda series, will feature two young British actors in the leading roles of Zelda and Link. In a post on X, Nintendo's legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto announced that Bo Bragason, 21, will star as Princess Zelda, while Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, 16, will play the role of Link. This marks the first time the iconic video game franchise is being adapted for the big screen, although it previously had an animated TV series in 1989. 'I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san,' Miyamoto wrote on X via Nintendo's official account. 'I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.' Bragason has previously appeared in the Disney+ series Renegade Nell and the BBC series Three Girls and The Jetty. She has also starred in the horror films Censor and The Radleys. Ainsworth is known for his roles in the 2022 live-action remake of Pinocchio, starring Tom Hanks, as well as The Haunting of Bly Manor, Everything's Going to Be Great, and All Fun and Games opposite Sex Education's Asa Butterfield. Wes Ball, who directed 2024's Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, is helming the Zelda movie. Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. is co-financing and distributing the film alongside Nintendo, with Miyamoto producing the project alongside veteran producer Avi Arad, the founder and former CEO of Marvel Studios. The Zelda movie will be an adaptation of Nintendo's hit The Legend of Zelda video game series, which follows young Link and Princess Zelda as they attempt to save the kingdom of Hyrule from the evil Ganon. The first Zelda game was released in 1986, and nearly 43 years later, the franchise maintains a devoted cult following. The Legend of Zelda film is scheduled to be released in May 2027. — 任天堂株式会社 (@Nintendo) July 16, 2025 Nintendo, long known for its video games and hardware, especially the best-selling Switch, has recently upped its Hollywood ambitions. Gavin Casalegno On Jeremiah's Growth In The Summer I Turned Pretty S3: 'Grief Makes Him Mature'
Gavin Casalegno reveals how grief challenges Jeremiah in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, calling it a test that leads to maturity and emotional depth. Teenage summers, complicated crushes, and bittersweet goodbyes—Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty is back with Season 3, and the emotions are running deeper than ever. As the beloved series returns to Cousins Beach for one final summer, the focus sharpens on the tangled love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers—Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). But this time, it's not just about first love and flirtation—it's about growing up, moving on, and dealing with the kind of grief that leaves a permanent imprint on your soul. In a recent interview, Gavin Casalegno opened up about Jeremiah's emotional evolution in the new season, noting that his character's usual sunny exterior is truly put to the test. 'Jeremiah is the optimistic, social butterfly, ray of sunshine in this story. He's definitely the life of the party," Casalegno said. 'However, when faced with a severe level of grief, the pain forces him and puts him through a test—to see what he's made of. This grief makes him grow in certain ways, and I think the story does a good job at showing the different ways of dealing with his grief and pain, something that everyone is or will experience. He's a good person to have as a friend." Reflecting on Jeremiah's final arc, the actor shared, 'It was fun, especially on my side of things, seeing how much the character grew throughout the season and how you could really see the maturity in the decisions toward the end of the series." Season 3 is once again helmed by creator Jenny Han, along with co-showrunner Sarah Kucserka. The duo serves as executive producers alongside Karen Rosenfelt, Paul Lee, Hope Hartman, and Mads Hansen for wiip. The series continues to blend heartfelt drama and coming-of-age romance, anchored by a strong ensemble cast featuring Sean Kaufman, Jackie Chung, and Rachel Blanchard.
