ITC receives two gold awards at Harvard Business Council International Awards 2025
ABU DHABI (WAM) Reaffirming its leadership in developing smart and integrated transport systems, the Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, received two gold awards at the 2025 Harvard Business Council (HBC) International Awards.The ITC was honoured in the Sustainability category for its 'Green Buses Programme' and in the Community Contribution category for its 'SALAMA School Transport Management System.'The awards were announced during the HBC AI & Innovation Convention & International Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA) in London.The Green Buses Programme embodies ITC's commitment to adopting low-emission transport modes. The project contributes to the annual reduction of carbon dioxide emissions through the gradual deployment of electric and hydrogen-powered buses, supporting the goal of achieving a fully green mobility zone by 2050.The 'SALAMA School Transport Management System' serves as a pioneering model for the application of artificial intelligence in the mobility sector, with a strong focus on safeguarding students and enhancing safety throughout their daily commutes. The project stands out for its integration of advanced technology with social responsibility, alignment with the UAE Centennial 2071 goals, tangible social impact, and broad partnerships with key stakeholders.Acting Director General of the Integrated Transport Centre, Dr Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, said, 'This international recognition highlights the impact of our work in sustainability and safety, and strengthens our commitment to developing smart mobility solutions that benefit the community and support Abu Dhabi's long-term vision. We will continue to expand these initiatives in close collaboration with our partners to deliver lasting and meaningful results.'These international accolades reaffirm the Integrated Transport Centre's role as a leader in smart governance and sustainable transport.

Remote work, once a niche privilege, has now ballooned into a global economic force valued at around $800bn a year. Nearly 40 million people globally identify as digital nomads, a number projected to swell to one billion by 2035. If it were a country, the global digital nomad community would rank 41st in population, according to the report. UAE highlights potential of deeper trade, investment collaboration between BRICS nations
5 July 2025 21:37 RIO DE JANEIRO, BRAZIL (WAM)The United Arab Emirates, represented by Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade, has participated in the BRICS Business Forum on the sidelines of the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, the Forum, Al Zeyoudi highlighted the UAE's strong relationships with BRICS nations, and the community's role in driving innovation, accelerating trade, and creating opportunities for cross-border Zeyoudi also promoted closer collaboration in key sectors, including logistics, agriculture, renewable energy, technology and BRICS Business Forum gathered leaders and business representatives from the community's 10 member nations – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Indonesia, Ethiopia, Egypt, Iran, and the UAE – to exchange views and ideas on how their public and private sectors can work together to navigate the world's current economic and geopolitical UAE's participation reflects its belief in constructive collaboration and its commitment to pursuing mutually beneficial global partnership. In 2024, they shared non-oil trade worth $243 billion, a 10.5% increase on momentum has accelerated in 2025, with non-oil trade reaching $68.3 billion, a year-on-year growth rate of 18.2%, and 2.4% more than Q4, UAE's total non-oil exports to BRICS countries grew to $39.4 billion in 2024, nearly double the level from 2019, while re-exports reached D$50.5 UAE ranks 14th globally among BRICS trading partners, and 5th when measuring internal trade among BRICS nations, behind China, Russia, India and BRICS community, which initially comprised of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa before expanding to 10 nations this year, represents a significant portion of the global economy. It accounts for approximately 40% of the world's population and around 25% of global GDP. The UAE became a member of BRICS in 2024, reflecting its strategic focus on expanding diplomatic and economic ties with markets throughout the world, and on further enhancing its role in driving global economic growth and prosperity.
